Updated: 8:24 p.m. Monday to correct that the car is not being auctioned. Normally when we hear about pink cars, we sort of clinch up expecting the worst. But this one seems subtle enough that it actually turned out well, and it's for a good cause.
It's the pink Bentley.
It's billed as a one-of-a-kind 2012 "Passion Pink" Bentley Continental GT coupe that is being displayed at an event in San Diego to to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It's up for sale for an asking price of $250,000, with a chunk going to benefit the breast cancer research cause.
Actually, it's going to be a showcase night for Bentley. A dealer, Symbolic Motors, is going to line the street with Bentleys outside the W hotel in San Diego, site of the event, next Friday night.
The W San Diego is going to serve, of course, pink cocktails. Guests will arrive on the pink carpet.
"While this car is stunning, it is going to save lives with the money that is raised and there is nothing more beautiful than that," said Laura Farmer Sherman, breast cancer survivor and executive director of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego.
For Bentley, the pink car underscores how it is able to handle just about any custom order -- and its high-end clientele dishes up plenty of them. In San Diego next Friday? Tickets are only $20.
