This is positively the hardest thing we have had to do - come to terms that we have to sell our treasured pony, Laddie, aka Monroe Lad but we have decided the despite my daughter still being eligible to do Pony classes this year she is now too big for him and he needs to teach another child the ropes on their journey to becoming a great young rider.

This is the hardest advert to write as we absolutely adore this amazing pony. I bought him for my younger daughter as I had seen him competing with his previous rider and loved his style over a jump. We made contact and they rang me a while later to say they would be looking to find him a new home. My daughter was quite young (12 at the time) and had never ridden a pony like Laddie before. She popped him round a small course of 80cms fences and she was in love.

My daughter and ‘Laddie’ gelled very quickly and have had the most amazing 4yrs together taking her from BE90s to flying round BE Novice cross country courses and achieving her ultimate goal to have the most amazing ride round the enormous Belsay British Pony Championships P2*L in 2023 .

But very sadly she has just grown too big for him now and despite their amazing relationship she needs to move onto her horse and let Laddie teach another little girl to fly.

Laddie has never been lame or sick whilst he has been with us. In fact, he came with low grade ulcers but was scoped at the end of last season and he has no ulcers at all. He is a very loving pony, giving kisses for polos (be them rather sticky ones). He is just simply VERY SPECIAL and we really don’t want to part with him but he has much to give to another and we shall enjoy watching.

He had a few unusual stops jumping at the end of last season which was not like him; he was never lame but on high level investigation we found a minor injury which was treated and he is back loving his jumping.

We are looking for a very special family home for him where hopefully he can stay a while. We think it is now time for him to step down from top level competing and enjoy flying around smaller events/arena eventing/showjumping/ NSEA teams/ PC Teams etc… upto 1.05/1.10m

As a Mum, I have set Laddie and my daughter off round some huge cross country courses and I have always known she would be safe and he would take care of her. He has never failed to do that.

He is an amazing pony to look after with no vices. He is good to travel in the lorry or trailer. He is good in all ways but he doesn’t like smoke so we are careful when shoeing him but he is very good to be shod.

Trev, as he is affectionately known to his friends, has contested a couple of unaffiliated events at 90 level, pinged round show jumping up to a metre and is showing great ability on the flat too. He is a cool horse and boasts fantastic breeding, by the famous stallion, Hype and out of a Beachball dam.

At 6yrs old, we feel he is now ready to go on and be produced further in his new home, whether this be eventing, show jumping, dressage or as a working hunter. He was bought to produce, but we are giving the opportunity to purchase him now at a reduced rate before he does more with us. He will be entered into some GOBE 100 classes in the coming weeks, if not sold.

He moves impeccably on the flat, with the most gorgeous uphill canter and therefore has a lovely jump, so we feel he can excel across several disciplines. He has cross country schooled and proving to be brave, bold and straight. He’s tackled ditches, steps, water and a range of solid fences. He has competed at three unaffiliated events, scoring 22.5 dressage and running double clear in them all. He has also competed at 1m training shows and hunter trials. A really diverse chap!

He is easy to do in all ways and is snaffle-mouthed in all three phases. Travelled alone and with others, hacked solo and in company, just a generally nice horse to deal with. Very low maintenance and just wants to crack on with his job.

As a result the beautiful black horse was able to provide the mare winning foal at the German foal Championship in Lienen. But that is not all; the foals also inspired people over the national border.

A stunning black mare with beautiful floaty paces , she has many graded mares in her dam line as well as top class stallions. However not only her excellent beeding and type shines through but also her character, she is the most kind and easiest mare we have ever delt with which is a massively important attribute in day to day handling. Last years foal with the same sire-line took gold premium at grading which I have no doubt this little chap would also achieve, she passes a relaxed confident temperament on to her foals as well as the most beautiful elegant head.

This stunning little chap has been living out in a heard of yearlings over the winter maturing at his own pace, he is not bolshy or nippy and a respectable yet confident young horse.

He really does have it all, jet black, beautifully marked and uphill movement to be admired he is a stunning example of British breeding. He will be on the smaller side making around 16-16.2 a perfect ladies or young riders horse. He has been trimmed, loaded and travelled, vaccinated and microchipped.
