We had a great session with the young people from Tides. We drew and talked and covered all kinds of subjects in a discussion that lasted 3 hours!
The following week we started making the designs that had been inspired by that session.
This is what Lewis thinks about the project….
We worked for 4 sessions in All Saints School. The young people who made baby grows were all studying child development and had lots to say about relationships.
They went from initially making lots of designs saying ‘It’s up to you.’ and ‘You decide.’ to reflecting a bit more and making designs that are personal to them.
It was lots of fun and great to work with them. Thanks to Mrs Raynes too.
Here’s what Danny thinks about the project….
Here’s what Taylor thinks about the project…
We had our first session at Tides a support center for young people. At first there was alot of people saying ‘We can’t do it’. But one by one they took up the challenge, started sewing and by the end they had all made a bag each from scratch.
My favorite moment was Charlie shouting ‘I can’t do it. I can’t do it.’ whilst walking towards a sewing machine with material in her hands then sitting down at a machine and just doing it.
The young people were great to work with and it is going to be fasinating to see what they want to put on their baby grows.
We worked with young people from Westfield. We talked alot about relationships with friends and family. How these relationships can be both supportive and cause problems.
The designs show the results of this conversation. It was good to chat.
