The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact OP directly using the following contact information. You may report suspicious calls or emails to the Federal Trade Commission.

The Office of the Professions’ Verification Search is a free public information service provided to allow individuals, agencies, or employers to verify the status of NYS licensed professionals. This service is not intended to provide bulk license information to businesses or commercial entities and safeguards are in place to ensure the integrity of our website and the data it contains. To request bulk verification files of currently registered NYS licensees, please see the information under the Downloads tab.

The information furnished on this website is from the Office of the Professions' official database, which is updated daily. This is considered to be a secure, primary source for license verification.  However, the database is currently under maintenance for enhancement and you may encounter issues with search results. Any issues should be reported using our Website Feedback Form.

 

If the database search fields are not displaying above, please clear your cache (or browser data) and/or access the database using another browser (see instructions for clearing browser cache: Chrome; Edge; Firefox; Safari). Please note, Internet Explorer is not supported for this database, so an alternative browser will be needed to perform a search.

The Department issues written certification of licensure to provide a licensee’s official information on the basis of licensure for a variety of purposes. The Department also issues written verification of licensure confirming an individual is licensed in NYS and their registration status.
