Belle's Classic Pecan Brioche Bun is one of Seattle's favorites and the Almond Croissant is equally amazing. The 'not to miss' lunch selections include the Ham and Gruyere Cheese Sandwich made on the fresh baked house baguette or the Wild Mushroom Soup. My coworker had high praises for Belle Epicurean and I would have to completely agree. We went on a chilly morning, but I was told that when it gets warmer out, they arrange outdoor seating, which I definitely look forward to!
Surprised that I've never been here, because I absolutely adore the decor and set up in this cafe. There is a large display case with fresh pastries that I'll be back to try. I was told their brioche is fantastic. I ordered just a soy latte and I really enjoyed it.
Overall, this is a great spot! Ample space, minimal seating, and great coffee makes for a cozy place to stop by for a quick bite to eat. Plus, the marble decor adds a nice touch to their modern European vibe.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 238911159Jul 10, 2018
Do not come here if youre only here to get coffee. Service is slow because every damn pastry needs to be heated up and too bad they do not have a separate line for beverages only.
Pastries are generally good, Do Not get macaron because they taste like WindexHelpful 17Thanks 0Love this 17Oh no 0 - Nov 25, 2017
I have had some goodies from Belle Epicurean before but never had been to its store at all. I was around the area to attend an event and found their store to be open still in early afternoon, so I decided to stopped by.
The store itself is quite small but definitely has a charming European flair to it. There were some croissants and brooches left but I have always preferred savory over sweet, I got myself the last rosemary pesto brioche and a soda and was really happy I went with that choice. The brioche was slightly flakey on the outside but super moist and soft inside. I took a bite..got carried on by rosemary aroma and I immediately felt satisfied with the choice I made.
Overall, this cafe is good!! I would love to stop by again. The brioche was a bit small but I think it was just $3ish so it was quite reasonable given a nice location+awesome taste they offer.
P.S. I saw a note thar they will be moving their current store to another downtown location soon.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 6, 2017
Have only been here a couple of times but service has always been friendly and informative. I've been in the hospitality business and appreciate it when a person in the customer service industry states what they're doing when they step away from you. Very cute space.
Waiting in line today I found out they're known for their brioche. So I went with a raspberry brioche instead of the twice baked almond croissant I was checking out and it did not disappoint. Flaky, caramel and loved the fresh raspberry on top.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jorden D.Los Angeles, CA2310478Jul 18, 2019
Oh my flaky goodness. Belle Epicurean has literally the best pastries I have EVER eaten - and I've eaten my way from Seattle to Italy to the middle of the Pacific Ocean. So far I have tried their turkey chèvre breakfast sandwich, their twice baked almond croissant, twice baked pistachio, multiple macarons (my favorite is the rose), their chocolate chip cookies, every single flavor of brioche, their fresh raspberry triangle, and their summer lemon cake. Yes you read that correctly. I have tried every one of those.
Lately my go to is their twice baked pistachio croissant (see photos). It's flaky, warm, rich, but not too rich - and has pockets of tiny chocolate chips that dance on the tongue in every bite. I don't even know how I wound up in a place to have such an appreciation for all things pastry, but somehow Belle Epicurean took my tastebuds and sent them on a horse ride at sunset. It's that romantic.
I'm especially keen on their efficient staff, because every time I'm in they all remember my name, the space is clean, the music is at a perfect volume, and it's a nice little break away from the otherwise busy monotonous hustle of the city.
You must stop what you're doing and come here right now if you've read this far. À la prochaine, mon boulangerie préférée!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 30, 2016
The unassuming storefront opens up into a beautiful classy small coffee shop with delicious smells circulating throughout the space. My husband and I stopped in here for coffee and a quick breakfast bite on our way to the Seattle Art Museum.
Choosing what I wanted to eat was tough! There were so many pastries which looked delicious and their offerings for breakfast sandwiches also looked tasty. I settled in on a ham breakfast sandwich and was very satisfied. Between the ample melted cheese and soft bun, my taste buds were in heaven. The only thing that would have made it 110% perfect was to have a runny yoke (I know...personal preference that I will ask for next time).
Yes, I will be back to try more of their delicious baked goods and other coffee offerings! If you find yourself in the Seattle downtown area and are looking for a cute little cafe, don't miss this one!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brian B.Everett, WA107222135Oct 30, 2019
Wow, this place is gonna be a new workday staple for me. All the pastries I've tried were delicious. I'm a sucker for pumpkin ANYTHING, I was surprised when I got a pumpkin croissant and it was filled with actual pumpkin puree and spices inside. And not just a little. A very generous amount. And loaded with pumpkin seeds on top. I tried brioche buns, a feillete (full disclosure, no idea if I spelled that right), a quiche and a breakfast sandwich. And that was just the first week!
Good coffee too. Iced americano and a wild one. A turmeric latte. Very interesting and very good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 27318676865Dec 1, 2017
Fine to grab a quick bite and head out. There were a lot of uncleared tables when we came here so it might it a little difficult to find a spot to sit down. I ordered a quiche lorraine with a chocolate croissant. My quiche was being reheated so I sat down to wait for that. When I was called up I grabbed both plates and sat down. When I got back to my seat I noticed that the croissant looked like a plain croissant. I brought this up with the cashier who huffed at me, slam dunked the old croissant in the garbage, and set down the new one a little too hard without so much as looking at me. She didn't seem happy about the mix up but I'm not sure why that was my fault. Anyways the quiche was pretty darn good and I would definitely come back for it but going to skip to avoid the attitude.

Came here again to try some other items for lunch. I enjoy how relax it is inside, a good place to have a coffee or a lunch.
I tried their roast turkey & cheese baguette sandwich. Very tasty! A good schmear of butter, they have this delicious onion jam spread inside of it, tasted like they made it with cherries.... it made the sandwich that much better! Also I got a small pear tart for dessert, not overly sweet and quite good.
Staff was friendly and fast!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 4, 2015Previous reviewDidnt realize this place was closer to my office than I thought. Not crowded when I went in here, staff was friendly explaining the menu items, pastries, or any dietary needs. Clean, relaxing little cafe/bistro like spot on 4th Ave.
Got the croque madame (its basically a grilled ham & cheese sandwich with an egg), I believe it was about $9. I didnt have much time to dine in so I got it to-go. Its probably a little better if you dined in while eating it. In the to-go box it steamed itself causing the bread to go a little soggy. Flavor was good, ham was nice and salty & peppery, cheese was melty and flavorful(gruyere I think), egg was nicely cooked too. All served in between brioche bread.
Also ,I got one of each of the macarons they had in the case thinking it would be a nice treat to my coworkers for a meeting we have later. I think each macaron is about $2, so it can add up quick! Macarons were quite good, crunchy/cracky top layer of the macaron, nice and soft/moist inside and a variety of delicious flavors.
They serve coffees, all kinds of other pastries, baguette sandwiches in the case, quiche, salads etc. All what you would expect from a French bistro/cafe.
Gots to come back to try other items on the menu.
