Producer and actor Mark Wahlberg takes care of his business from the backseat. For added convenience, Wahlberg had a new Cadillac Escalade transformed into a mobile office by  California-based aftermarket specialists West Coast Customs. The customization process was captured for an episode of “Inside West Coast Customs,” which debuts Sun. Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. on Velocity, billed as a new "upscale male lifestyle network” by Discovery.

To make the space work for Wahlberg’s use on set, the interior was completely stripped. An automated partition was added, separating the driver from passenger area. Ergonomic, recliner seats were installed in the rear interior. The vehicle is equipped with a DirecTV satellite link and LCD monitors. Retracting table-tops were added to create a functioning work space. The exterior is blacked out to give the movie star privacy. New wheels and suspension adjustments give the vehicle extra flair.

Wahlberg will make a guest appearance to take delivery of his new vehicle. The show stars the shop owner Ryan Friedlinghaus. West Coast Customs was founded in 1993, and was major player in the craze that took the Escalade and other big-body vehicles to another level of over-the-top customization in the early to mid ‘00s. Think Xzibit, 30-inch wheels, candy paint and exotic interiors. The shop has grown to produce its own merchandise and has been featured in several reality shows. West Coast Customs will have a substantive presence at the  SEMA convention which opens on Nov. 1 and runs through Nov. 4, according to the Sacramento Bee. The shop will host two-hour classes at the convention with audio and video, interior, graphics and wheel specializations.
