Today, we’re NSW’s largest private hospital, providing a comprehensive range of acute surgical, medical and obstetric care. Celebrating 120 years of caring for our community, we look back at some of the remarkable milestones achieved by Sydney Adventist Hospital since its opening in 1903. This video highlights over a century of dedicated service, ground-breaking medical advancements, and compassionate care.
The San has an ongoing commitment to the education and training of healthcare professionals – and as a teaching hospital, we also invest heavily in medical research through affiliations with major tertiary education institutions. We are proud to have forged a strong academic partnership with Australian National University, and our key partner in nursing education is Avondale University, whose students are able to study and live on our campus.
In 2020, Adventist HealthCare welcomed ELIA Wellness to the family. A registered charity dedicated to promoting good health, ELIA empowers the community to whole-person health, healing and hope, transforming lives in the process. ELIA stands for ‘Empower Lifestyle Innovation Advocates’ and their initiatives include health education resources and fitness programs. The evidence-based ELIA Lifestyle Medicine Centre at the San is aimed at tackling chronic diseases.

Sydney Adventist Hospital’s front lawn hosted the annual battle for the Golden Bedpan earlier this week. The bedpan relay event sees departments from across the hospital team up in groups of eight for the ultimate test of fitness and coordination.
If you went down to Fox Valley Community Centre earlier this week, you were sure of a big surprise... For San Babies, their families and their Teddy Bears were gathered there for certain because... It was the day of the Teddy Bear’s Picnic!
