IOS 11 + Android Gawkerverse Apps

Hi Everyone,
We want to address the iOS 11 compatibility for the gawkerverse apps and the development of an Android app, in a little more detail.

We have every intention of updating the apps, but ran into several unforeseen issues. We were simultaneously creating apps for both iOS and Android for over a year. The initial scope of the project was 3 months and the firm started working in April of 2015. That deadline came and went. It was still “in progress” until spring of 2017, when the development firm abandoned the project without warning. The app was tested again and again on our end, and we were very close to a final product. They took our money, strung us along with app builds, then quit on us and delivered nothing.

After a few months of attempting to communicate with the firm, we began the search for a new developer to help us build an Android app and (iOS 11 compatible) iPhone app.

We know this is frustrating for you and hope that a little more context can help. In the meantime, we hope that the mobile site and website will be sufficient, until we can get the apps up and running. Here is a video we made, showing iOS users how to create a shortcut to the mobile site for your home screen.

Thank you for sticking with us while we sort through this mess. We have every intention of getting these apps finished to share with you. It has taken much longer than our team anticipated. Nobody wants the apps updated more than us!

If you are an iOS developer and want to work with us to update our apps (objective-C) to be iOS 11 compatible, please contact us at contact@gawkerverse.com with your qualifications and experience.

If you’ve upgraded to iOS 11, the foodgawker app no longer works. We’re sorry! We’ve experienced some major developer delays and are working on a solution.

In the meantime, if you need your foodgawker fix - we recommend using the mobile website. To make that easier, you can add a button to your home screen.

1. Open Safari, navigate to your favorite gawkerverse website.
2. Press the “Action” button at the bottom middle of the window.
3. Swipe left and press “Add to Home Screen”.
4. Adjust the title, press “Add” and you’re ready to go!

We appreciate your support and patience! Thank you.
