Growing up right down the road from FHU, Anna Marie Wyatt did not want to come to FHU, but after experiencing the welcoming nature of the university, her mind was quickly changed. As her time at FHU progressed, her once simple doodles in her notebook have inspired her to make a career out of her talents.
Your Gifts: His Glory – Keith Mattix
Keith Mattix is a Computer Science major with a passion for using artificial intelligence for social good. He has seen how it can be used to aid hurricane relief efforts and has worked to create his own artificial intelligence network through our a.i. course on campus. He continues his work and research, so that one day people can use if to further God’s kingdom by helping those in need.

FHU Bible student Thomas Yukich desires to become a pulpit minister. Yukich originally chose FHU because of its small class sizes but has become grateful for relationships built both inside and out of the classroom leading to internship opportunities.

Sarah Johnson, an FHU Bible and interactive digital design student, is the daughter of a former FHU missionary-in-residence. Being raised in a missionary family, Johnson has used her life experiences to help her grow academically at Freed-Hardeman by writing and participating in University Scholars’ Day, a campus-wide celebration of scholarship and academic achievement.

The Conductor’s Coda: FHU Celebrates the Musical Legacy of Dr. Gary McKnight
Henderson, Tennessee – (May 24, 2024) – In a poignant farewell filled with music and memories, scores of former Sonshine Singers and Chorale members gathered at the Henderson Church of Christ to mark Dr. Gary McKnight’s retirement. The risers were brimming as both past and present group members united to sing their traditional closing song, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You,” one final time. This touching moment not only celebrated the end of Dr. McKnight’s illustrious 34-year tenure at Freed-Hardeman University but also underscored his profound connection with students spanning generations.
Verses and Voices Unite FHU Students and Professors in Poetry Celebration
Henderson, Tennessee — (May 24, 2024) — Freed-Hardeman English majors and faculty came together to celebrate National Poetry Month and the conclusion of the spring semester. The event highlighted the annual poetry contest where computer science major Lou Joseph was awarded first place for his submission, “Mother.” His poem poignantly captures the emotional turmoil of leaving Haiti, and adjusting to life in the United States.
FHU Research Group, Memphis Collaborators Published in Journal of Chemical Physics
Henderson, Tennessee — (May 23, 2024) — One of Freed-Hardeman University’s research groups, along with researchers at the University of Memphis, were recently published in the Journal of Chemical Physics for their paper, “Plasmonic Couplings in Ag (gold) – Au (silver) Heterodimers,” which examined how the metals influence each other and transfer energy.
