Came across this cute cafe in Culver and decided to work from here for the day. Upon entering I was kindly greeted by the barista. I ordered a Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk and Vanilla and he also delivered it to my table! This is one of the best matcha latte's I've ever had and I told him that and he was very kind. The other staff members were very kind as well.
There is very peaceful quiet jazz piano music playing which is a great for work. The wifi is good and I had a table with several outlets. It was pretty empty and quiet during the day which was very nice. After 2pm the place gets a bit packed with young middle schoolers, who can be a little noisy but nothing some headphone can't fix!
I definitely be back soon to work here again and try their Boba and empanadas!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jordyn C.Santa Monica, CA031May 13, 2024
I've been going here since I was a little kid with my dad after school, it is my favorite little coffee shop and it's true, they really do serve the best boba in Culver City, maybe even all of LA. Service is amazing, I've known the owner since I was a little kid and he is so nice, always making conversation when he has time. Great seating, plenty of tables, except for immediately after school, but that can be avoided if you go at 4:00- to 4:30. They have amazing snacks, my personal favorites are their coffee cake, lemon bars, s'mores bars (which are to die for), and their chocolate muffins. Best coffee shop in Culver City. Period. Full stop.

Cute little cafe!
Service: you walk in and are very quickly with a friendly "hello!" He makes sure to clarify your order and brings the drink straight to you. He seems to know his regulars well and remembers things about them to talk about!
Drink: I ordered an iced green tea matcha latte and it was excellent! A great amount of matcha. Blended well with just the right amount of sweet. I appreciate that he gave it in a cup that makes it easier to mix!
Ambience: nice jazz music in the background that isn't too loud. Very nice environment to get some work done. There are outlets and the WiFi is fast. Ask the servers what the WiFi password is.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 18, 20232 check-ins

I decided to visit this cafe because I've been looking for a good place to get authentic matcha lattes in Culver City. Unfortunately, I quickly found out this is not going to be a place I will be returning to.
I decided to go around 2:15pm and apparently that's around the time when the local school gets out. I have no problem going to a cafe that's around a school because kids deserve a treat after a long day but, I can't say that my experience wasn't dampened a bit because of this. I came through the front entrance and a group of teenage boys ran in from the back. I was walking up to the register when they cut in front of me and began ordering. I understand, they're just kids and were excited for their drinks. But, I wasn't very happy that the barista saw this happen and proceeded to take 5 of their orders before mine when I was already at the counter ready to order.
When it finally was my turn to order, I asked if I could have a simple matcha latte with no sweetener and was informed all their matcha is premade with sugar that's not adjustable. Therefore, my long wait to the counter wasn't really worth it. I decided to order a simple café latte instead, hard to mess up. The latte itself was alright. I give it a 4/10 because I could tell the coffee has flavor potential, however, they put way too much milk for me to even get a proper taste. Normally when you order a latte that's 24oz, you get extra shots of espresso so the milk doesn't conceal the flavors of the coffee. Given the color of the latte being almost completely white, I am assuming the recipe remains with 2 shots of espresso regardless of what size you order.
Overall, not a place I would recommend if you're looking for a good cup of coffee or authentic teas. Big bummer! Would've loved to become a regular but my search for authentic matcha lattes and a cozy spot around Culver City continues.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Liz R.Los Angeles, CA1313515Jul 24, 2023
Cute little cafe. Parking was easy on a Monday morning.
Staff were really friendly and was greeting customers by first name as they came in. Customers seemed talkative and friendly.
Had a spinach and cheese empanada which was simple and tasty. The matcha green tea latte was perfect. Will definitely come here next time I'm in the area again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - gene s.Santa Monica, CA53513Dec 24, 2023
We love the The Spot Cafe it is our morning safe place the ambiance reminds of our favorite local bar(Cheer) sans the alcohol. The owner knows all the regular customers by their 1st name. We highly recommend it for a short or long stay...

Stopped by this place for a quick breakfast before heading to an art event. Service was super friendly and fast. As we were browsing the pastries in the front, the person working the counter directed our attention to the empanadas. Definitely a great recommendation - full of flavor, great texture, and super satisfying on this cold morning. They also serve groundwork coffee, teas, and have a small selection of boba drinks.
In terms of logistics, thirty minute street parking in the front with less time limited parking in the back. The inside was cute, decorated with art from 4th graders that are thankful for the existence of this place. Very chill jazzy vibes. I also think this would be a great place to study - outlets on the wall, WiFi, and it's not too loud.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sami E.Los Angeles, CA0141Jan 5, 2023
I didn't want to write this because I have loved The Spot for years... however, today my sibling went to order a drink after school and an asian male worker at this location was extremely rude.
My sibling ordered a very popular drink and when the drink was called out, my sibling did not pick up the drink in fear that it might be another persons drink. The Spot is usually packed after school and the cookies and cream milkshakes are very popular so I understand why they didn't want to pick up the drink. However, once my sibling realized that no one else had order the same drink they went up to the counter and the worker proceeded to tell my sibling in a very unprofessional and rude manner something along the lines of "Raise your hand!!" and walked away while my sibling was trying to tell him that she wasn't sure it was her drink.
I am aware that food service is VERY fast paced but this does not excuse rude behavior. If anything, to make it easier for both the workers and customers, The Spot should implement some type of order naming for their orders. The drinks don't have names on them... they literally just call out random drinks. So, if someone before me orders a cookies and cream milkshake (and I am unaware that they ordered that) and I also order a cookies and cream milkshake and the person behind me orders a cookies and cream milkshake... how am I suppose to know which one is mine when it's being called out?
I'd like to acknowledge that there IS a very large crowd of middle schoolers and high schoolers at The Spot, but that should be expected because the school is literally around the corner. If you don't have the patience, then maybe find a job away from schools. These adolescents deserve the exact same respect that is given to the adults that come into The Spot. I'd love to see this same worker give the exact same treatment to an Adult... they would not get away with their rude behavior.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Isaac B.Murrieta, CA344534Jun 6, 2022
Small, quaint and local.
It's a good spot for a coffee fix.
PRO: good vibes, nice staff, good coffee.
CON: Parking can be tight. A thorough dusting never hurt.
I recommend hitting up The Spot; I will be back for some more Joe in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
