Upon returning from his deployment to Iraq, Akshay Nanavati struggled with alcohol abuse and was even on the verge of suicide when he decided to find an outlet. That outlet came in an extreme form of ultra-marathoning, humanitarian work, and exploring some of the most hostile environments in the world, and now he's using that training to cross Antarctica without support or wind power assistance.
