The terms of the deal aren't known, but what we do know is that pairing a photo service with a shopping site seems like a bit of a head-scratcher at first glance.

However, Lockerz has a social incentive -- PTZ, or points, can be earned by watching videos, listening to music and inviting friends. And the points can be used to lower the price of onsite merchandise; in effect, social activity acts like coupons for Lockerz's users.

With the Plixi deal, we can imagine that "sharing photos" will soon be added to that list of points-earning activity, as well.

"The acquisition enables Lockerz to offer its millions of members the most social and easy-to-use photo sharing experience, as well as introduce millions of Plixi customers to Lockerz' interactive, engaging and rewarding site features, including e-commerce, music and videos," said Lockerz CEO Kathy Savitt in a release this morning.

Or, as Plixi CEO Sean Callahan said to us in an e-mail: "Lockerz members are already sharing photos across the web, and Thousands of Lockerz members have been requesting the ability to share photos with their friends on the social network. We want to create a one stop shop for Lockerz members and reward them for all the things they love to do on the web -- which includes sharing photos!"

Plixi will get its third name change to become Lockerz Photos, and new Lockerz features will be developed around Plixi's existing feature set.
