My wife & I loved this place. Great food, friendly owners & staff and good service. I especially loved the crab legs.

Unfortunately they close this weekend due to a conflict with the landlord. We are watching and hoping that they reopen soon at a new location.

I have eaten here twice now. It is a small restaurant with a small bar section. The food here is really good. As the name implies, mainly seafood with a few chicken dishes. Ask about the specials. I have had excellent luck ordering the specials, like the curry mussels and flounder on grits were damn good.

      Summary
      - Oysters Rockefeller is really good
      - Check out the specials
      - Seafood is not fried so don't expect fried menu items
      - Beer on draft is a combination of local and national brands
      - Beer is very cold which is great
      - Good location downtown by the river

      Highly recommend.

Location is right off the riverwalk in Wilmington and there sign out front says something along the lines of "voted best oysters for 18 years". Ok I'm sold, so in we go to escape the heat and enjoy some oysters. It's already pretty busy around 4pm so after we get sat by our hostess we peruse the drink menus. Good amount of local drafts, including IPAs and lagers!

They have a lot of options for the seafood along with some specials. We agree to get a dozen oysters and 1/2 lb of fresh shrimp to start. We get the oysters first and they look delectable. The first one was tasty but left dirt and grit on our fingers. The next one has shell pieces and dirt on the outside, right on the slurping edge. My third and last oyster left me with a black smudge on my nose and more dirt all over my hands and mouth along with more shell pieces. We let our waitress know and she is barely apologetic but takes the rest of the oysters away. She tells us they only wash part of the oyster off.....why???

On the other hand the shrimp are steaming when we got them and were perfect! Just incredible, fresh and wonderful. After they oyster fiasco we were thankful for something so good. The waitress doesn't really come back to us for a while so we sat & waited for clean oysters and to order more food. When she does come back and we ask about the oysters she says we can get news ones but she would have to put them in again, although we told her that we still wanted some earlier.

By the end of the ordeal we were hungry and disappointed. At this point we just decide to cut our losses and not order more food so we pay and leave. Of all the places that have fresh oysters this has got to be at the bottom is the list, skip this joint.

We were touring the USS North Carolina and after ascending and descending the multiple stair cases, my family had worked up an appetite. Wanting some seafood, we found this small downtown restaurant and loved every minute of it.

We started with a mixed dozen of steamed and raw oysters. They were fresh, well prepared and delicious. What a great start to lunch. From there we went our separate ways with some getting crab clusters, others getting fish tacos, while I got the pesto crusted grouper special. While everything was good, both the clusters and the grouper were amazing. In fact, if they had not been so busy I would have demanded to speak to the chef to learn out he got the pesto crust so crunchy and delicious.

Service was friendly, efficient and unhurried. I never once had to ask for a drink refill, extra napkin or for a plate to be cleared.

Parking is an issue, as there is not private parking nearby, so expect to pay for parking and if it is a busy day, to walk a block or so.

Fresh! Fresh, clean seafood that will make your tummy want more. I must say the oyster sampler was my favorite. You definitely could taste every ingredients in just one bite. Mad, I only order half a dozen. Our server was very friendly and made sure we were ok.

We ate here twice in 3 days. That's a hint how much we enjoyed it. Food is GREAT, service is quick, staff are friendly, prices are good, decor is fun and funky, noise level is moderate.

Also, biggest freakin' mussels I have ever had in life!

I really do want to know who they got to do their murals. They're gorgeous.

Enjoyed a delish dinner here. Two of us had specials-fresh snapper and mussels, calamari, shrimp and an order of steamed shrimp. All fresh and very good!
Blood orange martini is very good-I would've liked 2 but I only drank one.
Fun atmosphere, jimmy buffet playing over the sound system, colorful and friendly staff!!

Fresh ass oysters. We ordered six to make sure they were good and they were so good we ordered six more. They're local and you can taste it! The service was outstanding and the entrees looked fresh and incredible (would have stayed if we were not having seafood the next day). Check it out if you like oysters or seafood!

This place is known to be the best oyster restaurant in the area for about 15 years! It looks packed and the wait was a bit long. I had to wait about an hour or so. This gave us some time to explore the area but we had to keep coming back to check up on them because they don't give you a timer or call you when your wait is up.

The parmesan shrimp cakes were so good. It was better than any crab cakes I've ever gotten and this is just shrimp cakes. You can definitely taste the parmesan with the spinach in it. It was very tasty all throughout the meal so I didn't get tired of it. The sides however was a bit much. I'm glad they gave me a lot but it wasn't as good as I would say it was. The pasta salad was good though.

The oysters were good and clean. I didn't swallow any broken shells which was wonderful. The crab legs were a bit salty but I guess I could deal with that one. My friends loved the crackers provided and kept eating it all.

This place is a bit pricey. I'd personally rather go somewhere that had unlimited seafood but if you're going on a date or don't mind spending the money then this place is for you.

The waiters were nice and even gave us tips as of where to go and visit around the area.
