It's been about 7 years since I've been to this location. The original location. Things sure have changed since it the husband and wife running it. They've expanded locations and menu items and changed the name on some items.
I had just come from my spa session and was starving. Couldn't decided on pizza or Mac n cheese. I remember this place was across the way.
When I got there, no one in the place so I could take my time and peruse the me menu. I spotting the Mac n cheese pizza and that solved me dilemma.
The food came out quick and I actually like this. I just wish there was some red pepper flakes or hot sauce. I didn't ask so I could have had.
Would probably order again, but for now I'll stick to their regular Mac NC cheese concotions.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 6, 2012Previous reviewSo our little one boldly announced she wanted to go to the "mac n' cheese" restaurant this weekend. We haven't been here is a while, and still recovering from a cold, not cooking and comfort food sounded good.
It's been about 6 months since we had been here, and was glad to see they were still there. They've expanded their menu and now offer different types of Grilled Cheese. Definitely on my list to try next time, is Bramapple. Ham, brie and caramelized apples. Vaguely recall seeing this a Mac special on one of my trips.
Apparenltly we have just missed the wave. The owners remembered us and asked how we are doing and commented they hadn't seen us in a while.... Always a good sign... And they seem to have there same staff.
They also offer salads now. I also saw these cute little combo dishes. For those of you in a hurry you can order online and they also deliver.
I'm still a fan....Apr 2, 2011Previous reviewAfter reading the reviews from my fellow Yelpers, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place. Conveniently located across the Los Cerritos Mall. The menu is very accommodating to vegetarians, as we perused the menu on-line before hand. Being Indian, my boyfriend's eye caught the Masala Mac. Any dish that has meat can be left out.
We got there an hour before they closed and decided on the trio. Keep in mind, both of us hadn't eaten for 8 hours. We tried the Masala, Truffle, and Cajun. We also got their potato stix. Yes, you guessed it, too much food, but I'm a fan of leftovers. Hey I paid for it, I'm takin it.
In case your wondering, Masala Mac? The owners are Indian and from Zimbabwe. Cool folks! They gave us the option of mild, medium or hot, for this one. For those not familiar with Indian spices, ALWAYS go for mild. We went for medium and it just spicy enough.
I have to say it was pretty damn good. My boyfriend commented on how the cheese was not greasy. I told them that's probably because they used REAL cheese. No Kraft or processed cheese used in the making of this. The winner however for us, for the time being, was the truffle.
While we didn't order individually, I see the two sizes and they looked like pretty healthy portions.
I wasn't too much of a fan for the potatostix. even with the season salt, which looked like they put in the middle, it didn't have much flavor. We will go for the sweet potato fries next time.
Downside, the place was small, and could potentially cause some problems for your borderline claustrophobs. Also, I think the containers should be microwaveable. If you had a small portion they had a clear box, but for the larger portions they gave us an aluminum container,
I think this is a great place for those who have children and are picky eaters. My experience is ALL kids like Mac'n'Cheese. They have a kids combo which we'll try when we bring the little one.
Like a lot of others the parking is a bit tight, but be patient you can find something eventually.
We will definitely be visting again. Off to eat my leftovers! - 27613105174Jul 21, 2022
Elbows have been on my radar for a long time and I finally got around to checking it out while hanging out with my noodle-obsessed niece who will never turn down a carby meal. There is one vegan option on the menu called "I Can't Believe It's Not Cheese" made with vegan cheddar, grilled peppers, and onions. It was about $14 and large in size. It was good, and impressive enough for a plant-based mac and cheese, though not very memorable. https://bit.ly/3OoXmQI
My niece got the Okey Dokey Artichokey. She asked if they could make it with vegan cheese, though she still opted to keep the parmesan. I'm fairly certain that the spinach artichoke dip would also has dairy in it as well. That said, I now know that any menu item can be made with vegan cheese at an extra charge. Just keep in mind that doing so doesn't always automatically make it plant-based.
The staff was pretty average. The dining area had minimal seating. Parking in this shopping center is pretty crowded, especially close to the restaurant. I don't see myself going out of my way to eat at Elbows but if I ever ended up eating here again, or if I feel like overloading on carbs and vegan cheese, I'm glad to know they have a solid vegan option.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 49983762246May 27, 2021
Me and my friend glen wanted to try this place 2 years ago and haven't had an opportunity to go until just recently. The instagram and other videos showing the process of creating this gooey macaroni and cheese in different forms was unique.
The drive was an hour away from where we live and decided to finally try it out. What I can tell you is that it did not live up to the hype. We ordered a pizza mac in cheese as part of the top 5 favorites and a Buffalo chicken mac and cheese which was also in the top 5 favorites. To be honest, it was average. The visuals are good enough for instagram but the taste and combination of the mac and cheese was extremely salty and kind of bland to be honest.
The prices are around 15$ as an average between the regular and large aluminum size bowls. The presentation and service were great however. The parking lot was medium sized and the interior was narrow for sitting down. Overall, it's a one time and done kind of place. But I do think it is worth the try. The Buffalo macaroni and cheese one was better than the pizza one. I haven't tried the other 3 favorites but they included pork in them and I'm not a fan of pig.
The menu is also massive and there are plenty of choices between sandwich macaroni and cheese, burger macaroni and cheese, fried macaroni and cheese, but the aesthetics and tanks are what is keeping this place in business. Bon appetite!Helpful 40Thanks 0Love this 42Oh no 0 - David T.Santa Ana, CA0136Feb 1, 2023

Made a special trip to get Mac n cheese. The picture I saw of pizza tots looked so good. So drove 20 mins to check this place out and was sadly disappointed. The pizza tots we ordered were very cheesy and the tots
were buried under so they aren't crunchy. My feeling was the calories to flavor/texture isn't justified. We also ordered the so shellfish. I didn't like the flavors together. I like peas and lobster but I didn't love them together. Won't return for the Mac n cheese but their grilled cheese might warrant a return visit. Also the lunch was about $40.00. The price isnt too bad considering the amount of food. Portions are huge, 2 can split a meal and still have leftovers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jonathan A.Whittier, CA0107Feb 20, 2022

I love some good ol'mac n cheese. Even better when you can jazz it up with different toppings. First time trying this place and I decided on the "Don't Be Afraid O" mac n cheese. It has parmesan and mozzarella cheeses with chicken and broccoli inside. On top is drizzled with pesto sauce. It was pretty good. I really enjoyed how much chicken was packed inside the small serving!!
Only downside was the ordering. I placed an order online for pick up and (30 minutes later) went to Elbows once the time passed saying it would be ready....and it still wasn't ready. Booo.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jan 26, 2022
I ate here once before years ago and don't really remember it. I think I got something standard and the food was standard.
But I gotta give 5 stars for the pizza mac. I thought it sounded good, but it was so much better than I even imagined. Every bite was delicious. Cheesy and gooey and salty and the pepperoni was crisp and added the perfect bite to the mac... makes me wanna try more offerings to see if they live up to that quality. Didn't seem to bother my stomach either for as intense as it was.
One note - if you like old fashioned/real sugar sodas, be sure to check the soda you're thinking of getting first because the one I bought had high fructose corn syrup which bothers my stomach. Luckily they let me switch it out and helped me find one with real sugar. Very nice!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Glen P.Santa Clarita, CA2567314641May 28, 2021
Macaroni in a pot that's a WA... uhh I better not haha.. Ok so I've heard about this place for years but was never in the area to try it out. Mac N Cheese with such interesting flavor combos like pizza and buffalo chicken?? That was enough to sell me right there!
And that's exactly what me and my friend got. We got the 2 regular sized portions and just shared the both. I feel like 1 Mac would get boring because it's pretty big and gets repetitive. Still tasty though! Personally I liked the buffalo chicken better than the pizza flavor, which sounds crazy because pizza makes anything better haha. I know it sounds a bit different but I swear it's so tasty. And the mac was cooked perfectly, soft, creamy, cheesy mixed in and not just all of it thrown on top. It's well done! I've never really had Mac as a main course and not just a side dish but I wish I could have had all the flavors! If I go back again I would love to try the pulled pork flavor. And they have good looking sandwiches as well. Imagine pulled pork mac on a sandwich.. OMG.
Price point for a regular is about $10 and the large $12.
Indoor seating is full available and there's some outdoor seating too if you're more comfortable with that.
I enjoyed my lunch here and would for sure come back! Definitely recommend going here.Helpful 37Thanks 0Love this 35Oh no 0 - Lauren B.Long Beach, CA3171Jul 22, 2022
Just a heads up for anybody going here for the first time, If you get a kids meal, you won't be given the juice box or cookies that come with it unless you know to grab it yourself. Visited this place for the first time today and got my child a kids meal and took it to go. I assumed everything was in the bag of course when she handed me my items but now that we are home and I realized things were missing.
I called to ask and the worker said that I was supposed to grab those things myself (they are apparently by the register). I'm not a mind reader and I'm also not an employee there, therefore I had no idea that that was what we were supposed to do and the employee working never informed me of any of that. Not a huge deal but definitely something that people should be aware of and employees should help customers with. The employee on the phone offered to write my name down so that I could pick it up on my next trip which was a nice offer but it's not necessary.
The kids meal came with nuggets and fries and a side of barbecue sauce-which my child does not eat. I wasn't offered any sauce options either but of course again, I guess should have asked. The Mac and cheese balls were good.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
