What a local gem this place is! I feel so silly admitting that I have lived in the area for over 20 years and I've never been inside this place. They have been on Harrison in the Arts District for around 12-15 years and I've never had a interest to go in and I can't tell you why. No specific reason, but I am so glad my mom decided to come here on a Friday evening for their live jazz set. I really enjoyed it. It's a local spot so mostly everyone here lives within blocks and know everyone here. I love that! It's like a upscale cheers. They sell the best wine and have wonderful food options too. I did not eat but my mom ordered the cheese burger, fries and her friend had a salad and both entrees looked delicious and it's all made to order. The wine was delicious and reasonable, costing $7.00 a glass and the portion was very generous. The jazz set was awesome. They have live sets on Saturdays and Sundays from what I was told. The live jazz on Sundays is from 3pm-6pm. I really enjoyed my outing here and will be back to support this local location because not only is it a great place with a great atmosphere, but they are the fabric of the community. Please stop in and enjoy a Saturday or Sunday afternoon here, you won't regret it and I guarantee you will enjoy yourself

Cute small and cozy neighborhood café in Oak Park. My first time coming here. I was searching on Eventbrite for things to do and I found an event for jazz night with Lady T. It sounded interesting and the Oak Park neighborhood has some really nice places to hang out. Street Parking is available until 11PM after that your car will be towed off.

I was the first to arrive so there was plenty of parking along the streets.
The food is ok. The cooks are not stingy with the portions of the meals. A casual and classy atmosphere that has live jazz on the weekends.
Nice romantic setting, delicious red Moscato wine (pricey for a glass).

The service was ok. After I was seated there were a group of other women who came in after me and was seated across from me. I didn't want to feel offended but the lady owner just instantly started talking to them about the food and drink menu. Ok hold up... I was just seated at my table no water, no menu no explanation. I'm like ok. I will give her a minute or two better yet 5 more minutes to come back to my table. Well after 15 minutes had passed. I started to get up and walk out. I looked up and the other table had their drinks. I finally had to flag her down like excuse me please. Once she came over to my table it's like she was not organized. She was a little too chatty with some of the customers and leaving out the other half. Running around and talking a little too much about how great her food was different from any other restaurants. I would still recommend this place considering a few hiccups. A hidden gem in Oak Park very laid back. Enjoyable getaway to come and listen to some nice live jazz music.

Wow! First time here and what a gem! I was fortunate to stop by when they had live music, the Sam Robinson Quintet, who were recording a live jazz album. I had the baked pasta which was delicious accompanied by a wonderful Pinot Noir. This whole Arts neighborhood of Oak Park is a must visit area and Eastgate Cafe is one of its highlights.

East Gate Cafe on Sunday was an absolute diamond. Live jazz and the Covid fries. Will have to return to enjoy an afternoon of music and good food.

I really like this cozy neighborhood cafe and have stopped by dozens of times for a lunch, cookie & tea break or book club meeting. The vegetarian lasagna is generously portioned and the soups are great, too. There has always been at least one vegetarian option which I appreciate. We've stopped by when there has been live music, too. Sweet, cozy, friendly prompt service. Reasonable prices. Easy, free street parking. Cute little gift shop area inside the cafe. It's s great location right in the Harrison Art District do you can stop by all those shops too.

Eastgate Cafe/Bistro is an artsy little shop on Harrison Street in Oak Park in Oak Parks Art District. It's a neat little shop that is a combination cafe, baked goods & wines. It's an eclectic little shop that has a feel of someone's home. It's a cool little place a few blocks from where I use to live. My friend and I went here after returning from Chicago to see the Cubs celebration W/5 million of my closet friends. Yeahhh it's not every year the Cubs win the World Series.

The woman that runs the shop is very nice and personable. She is a one woman show running the register & serving food. I ordered a roast beast aka roast beef sandwich. It was served on a roll w/lettuce and tomato. It was pretty good sandwich, but nothing exceptional.

As a first time customer she also gave me a chocolate chip cookie that was very good. It was freshly baked and loaded with chocolate chips.

When east Oak Park had only the Buzz Cafe, this A little restaurant in the basement of an apartment building was a curiosity. Run by a couple, this place felt thoughtful and was trying to offer good food in a comfortable atmosphere. The food is accessible and usually is well crafted. They also have community events like the ukulele club. I sometimes was underwhealmed by the service or the food, but kept coming back. Overall a good bet.

When I first moved to Oak Park a few years ago, Eastgate Cafe was one of my first stops.
I stopped in and had a Roast Beef sandwich and followed that up with a cup of coffee.
The sandwich and coffee were good.
One of the owners, let me know that she would be happy to bring food to me (even though they did not have an official delivery system) if I needed it.
What a great welcome to the community.

Came in randomly today and the customer service here is amazing! We were heading to buzz cafe and didn't realize they close early on Sundays. My son was disappointed and wanted something to drink after our visit at the park. So we walked to Eastgate cafe and were greeted right away. They made him a nice glass of cranberry juice and got me a very delicious iced coffee. We will definitely be back!

      My son really wanted juice!

Tonight (3-8-18) had pulled pork in pastry cone! Yum!
