The food was a'ight.
I was literally starving, so I would've eaten anything, but this place had the mimosas that we were oh-so-craving, so away we went!
If I were to base this just on food alone, probably would've been lower, but maaaaan, our server hooked us up and saved us a load of dollars! He was cool AH, and I would go back just to see him. However, for you unlucky duckies, he was only there filling in for someone, so you're all SOL.
Anyway, will probably check out a million other places before coming back, but I'll burn that bridge when I get there. Y'all can check it out if you're feeling greasy and need to keep that buzz going from the night before. Isn't that what brunch is all about anyway?

Waited 45 minutes for a table on a Sunday during lunch. Ok fine even though we paid $20 for ONE cocktail in a small mason jar and were even denied a straw. Then was seated by a rude receptionist who told me to wait patiently for my table when I didn't even ask for an update.
To make matters worse, our group of 8 mostly ordered the Brunch Buffet with Fried Chicken, Cajun Garlic Home Fries, Waffles etc. It was a $25 fee for all you can eat and another $17 for all you can drink mimosas. Disappontingly the brunch buffet did not have anything we wanted except the grits and catfish. Waffles were gone. Fried Chicken was gone. Potatoes, biscuits and gravy, dessert -- all of them gone. How do you charge $25 for all you can eat when there's nothing to eat?
It took an hour for fried chicken (only) to be refilled and our group got impatient, paid the bill and left. Way to treat your customers well by fooling them with a menu. 100+ minute wait for Fried Chicken AFTER getting seated and charging a premium for it? That's robbery. Highly don't recommend.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 29, 2015Previous reviewWaited 45 minutes for a table on a Sunday during lunch. This place had good reviews so a friend and I decided to come for dinner tonight. It looked busy which you would think would be a good sign, but unfortunately our experience was not the best.
We were sat at a small table next to the bar. There were massive stools that seemed like you needed to climb up just to get on them! The seating wasn't ideal. Besides having these awkward stools to sit on, the table was so small that both our plates did not fit on the table. There is also art on the wall that is not secured directly to the wall so it kept moving around and hitting us. What the heck. How uncomfortable.
I could have overlooked the seating issue. However what spoiled the experience for me was one of their staff. A rude petite waitress with short hair told me to push in my seat because she couldn't get through. Excuse me-have you ever been taught to ask people politely? How are you even in the service industry? I didn't ask to be seated here and am not responsible for the poor placement of the furniture. I don't need your attitude. Plus she dropped a full glass bottle right next to where we were eating so glass and beer were all over the place. Did she apologize to us? Of course not.
Also the food was nothing to write home about. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffles were incredibly soggy and you could still see feathers on the chicken. The chicken was also on the drier side.
Our actual waiter was nice but we had to ask for refills of water since their water cup was so incredibly small.
Overall, I'm sure some people may like this place. However my experience of eating here was the perfect storm of a disappointing dinner with underwhelming service.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Oct 14, 2018
5 points for decor and ambiance. There was different art pieces and other things to look at that made the establishment mesmerizing. I've been to my fair share of soul food places and I'm not sure if I'd have this place in my top 5. While the food was delicious, it wasn't as memorable as other places like Brenda's or Southern Cafe.
The chicken was lightly breaded to perfection; however, I personally prefer dark meat. The syrup for the waffle was unique in flavor because the base was corn? It wasn't bad, but definitely not as sweet as regular maple syrup. The biscuits was warm and fluffy. The complimentary cornbread mini muffins were moist too. The ribs were generously coated in a flavorful glaze. The cheesy grits and greens were delicious too. The pecan pie was alright. The crust harden as if it were sitting outside for too long and it was served with a generous dollop of whipped cream instead of ice cream.
All in all this place is good and a must try if you haven't already. Kind of pricey for some soul food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 2018
This was my first restaurant stop in my short weekend getaway in SF.
It was a bit tricky finding the restaurant which is in a sketchy area. I was dining solo and thankfully didnt have to wait long for a table. The bar area where I intended to sit was full so I sat in the main dining room area. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I was torn between the fried chicken meal with two sides or the chicken and waffles entree. As you can see the common denominator was definitely the fried chicken which they are apparently popular for. I decided on the fried chicken with collard greens and grits and cheese. The meal was absolutely delicious. Those grits for dinner hit the spot. I wasn't able to finish all the chicken and took some leftovers with me. The chicken held its flavor the next day, lol.
Overall I had a great experience with this restaurant and wouldn't hesitate to return and check out some other menu items.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Mar 14, 2018
We stayed at the a hotel about 2-3 blocks from Farmerbrown and judging from the photos we decided to come here for brunch!
They have a AYCE brunch buffet for $27/$28 and unlimited mimosas for $20! They also offer pitchers for $18 but no refills (which gives about 4-5 glasses of mimosas)
I decided to order the Chicken and Waffles along with a side of the pork sausage. My boyfriend decided to get the Farmer's Hash? Or Farmer's plate? I'm not sure but I believe it was the first thing on the menu in entrees.
Our orders came out relatively quick which was great because I was starving! The sausage was cooked perfectly with beautiful grill marks and my chicken and waffles were just as good!
I tried a few pieces from my boyfriend's dish however I liked my chicken and waffles better!
The mimosas were also pretty strong so we ended up sharing a pitcher.
Overall, I would definitely come back here again for my brunchtures!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2018
This restaurant is tucked away and almost hidden, but what a great place to enjoy food and good company! It had the most relaxed vibe and great service. Our waitress was very welcoming, but not overbearing. They made sure we were taken care of and gave us some suggestions.
My goodness happy hour margaritas are a yes please! Flavor packed with a little bit of heat! The fried chicken has flavor, juicy, and not over breaded. I really enjoyed the hamhock greens and shells and cheese sides. Lots of very earthy flavors, simple yet beautiful. Oh and their in house hot sauce Sweet Heat is a nice pairing to their chicken, give me the kick!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 18, 2018

Went there for dinner. They offer complimentary cornbread as soon as we were seated and I love cornbread so that was awesome. We ordered what other Yelpers raved about which was the fried chicken and tthe catfish. Fried chicken came with two sides and we picked the based cheese shell pasta and biscuits. Liked the pasta, biscuits were a little different from the typical ones you see for example at McDonalds. It was still good but it wasn't the flakey kinds that I like. Chicken came in 2 pieces, portion wasn't the most generous but it was okay since I am not a big eater. The other entree, catfish was overly salty but the fish itself was very flavorful.
I think I will still go back, probably for brunch which is what they are famous for! They take reservations by the way. Happy Yelping!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3277289010782Nov 27, 2017
Soul food craving and brunch to fix, completed here. Attempted to wait out at Dottie's brunch spot two blocks away or try the brunch here. We didn't feel like waiting for 2 hours, probably, so I sufor Farmer Brown's. It's been on my bookmarks for ages, so I'm glad I got it finally checked.
I wanted chicken 'n' waffles so that's what I got! Their fried chicken was on the dry side and waffles were decent. Maple syrup was good, but lacked an everlasting mark in my mouth in terms of signature flavor.
Jalapeño honey hot sauce was different, but also didn't captivate my taste buds.
Spacious place for great drinks and to get one's brunch on! Corner location creates good exposure for this restaurant.
It's a fun, chill place to take a group for a Saturday outing and start the day out early here!
Satisfied, yes.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0
