Brian Branch DET CB
Lions' Brian Branch: Likely out until training camp
1d agoBranch recently underwent a cleanup procedure on his lower left leg and will likely be sidelined until training camp, Colton Pouncey of The Athletic reports.
The Lions initially thought Branch's lower left leg injury would heal on its own, but he elected to undergo a procedure so he could rehab ahead of the regular season. However, coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that Branch is progressing well and will likely be able to do some work before the regular season begins, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Branch was recently seen on a knee scooter around the team's facility. The 22-year-old was solid as a rookie last year, tallying 74 tackles (50 solo), including a sack, along with 13 pass defenses, three interceptions, a forced fumble and a touchdown.

Matt Judon NE OLB
Patriots' Matthew Judon: Back to full health
1d agoJudon (biceps) is back to full health and expected to be at the Patriots' mandatory minicamp in June, Karen Guregian of The Springfield Republican reports.
Judon tore his biceps early in the 2023 season and subsequently underwent season-ending surgery. It appears his recovery has gone well, and he will be ready to participate in New England's offseason program. Barring any setbacks with his health, the 31-year-old -- who racked up 15.5 sacks in 2022 -- is expected to start at outside linebacker, where he'll reprise his role as a key pass rusher for the team.

Dawand Jones CLE OT
Browns' Dawand Jones: Aiming for Week 1
1d agoJones (knee) is hopeful to be ready for Week 1 in the upcoming season, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Jones suffered a torn MCL and missed the final five games of the regular season, plus the Browns' wild-card loss to the Texans. He is not participating in OTAs yet, but doctors originally told him he could be back practicing as early as June. Thus, he could start ramping things up soon. He projects to back up Jack Conklin (knee) at right tackle when healthy this season.
-
T.J. Bass DAL OT
Cowboys' T.J. Bass: Participating in OTAs
1d agoBass (elbow) is participating in the Cowboys' OTAs, Mickey Spagnola of the team's official site reports.
Bass underwent elbow surgery following the 2023 campaign. The undrafted rookie earned a spot on Dallas' 53-man roster but spent most of the season backing up Tyler Smith at guard. However, Bass did start two contests. His participation at OTAs indicates his health is back up to par heading into his second season.
-
Tariq Castro-Fields WAS CB
Commanders' Tariq Castro-Fields: Working at OTAs
1d agoCastro-Fields (shoulder) is participating at the Commanders' OTAs, Stephen Whyno of the AP News reports.
Castro-Fields landed on Washington's injured reserve prior to Week 18 last season with a shoulder injury. He suited up for eight games in 2023, but was primarily used on special teams. He finished the year with four tackles (three solo). He is competing for a depth role in the Commanders' secondary in the upcoming season.
-
Abraham Lucas SEA OT
Seahawks' Abraham Lucas: Possibility for training camp
1d agoThe Seahawks are hopeful Lucas (knee) will be ready for training camp, Nick Lee of the team's official site reports.
Chronic knee issues limited Lucas to just six games in 2023 after he played 16 during his rookie campaign. The issues dated all the way back to his time at Washington State and ultimately were surgically repaired this offseason. Given the team's optimism regarding his chances to return for training camp, his odds of being ready for Week 1 are looking good at this point. The third-year pro projects to start at right tackle when healthy.

Johan Rojas PHI CF
Phillies' Johan Rojas: Swipes two bags in loss
2m agoRojas went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a pair of stolen bases in a loss to the Giants on Monday.
Rojas knocked a fourth-inning RBI single and proceeded to steal two bases but was left stranded at third. The outfielder finished with his first multi-hit game in over two weeks amidst a poor month of May during which he's batting only .203 (13-for-64). Despite his struggles reaching base this season -- Rojas' OBP sits at a meager .269 -- he's managed to carve out some fantasy value in deep leagues with 13 stolen bases in 14 attempts.
-
Randy Rodriguez SF RP
Giants' Randy Rodriguez: Grabs first win
13m agoRodriguez (1-0) pitched two perfect innings and struck out one to earn the win over the Phillies on Monday.
Rodriguez entered the game with the Giants behind by a run in the fifth inning, but he was sharp and the offense pulled ahead while the rookie right-hander was in the game. After allowing six runs (three earned) over his first three appearances, Rodriguez is riding a 7.2-inning scoreless streak over his last five appearances. He's at a 1.76 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 19:4 K:BB over 15.1 innings this season, and he's also picked up one hold. He has the ability to cover multiple innings, but that is likely to limit him to mostly low-leverage work despite his excellent ratios so far.
-
Paul Goldschmidt STL 1B
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Accounts for lone run in loss
17m agoGoldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Reds.
Goldschmidt has homered three times over his last two games, though it's still too early to say he's completely out of the woods for his slow start to the campaign. He's shown some encouraging signs, hitting safely in all but one of his last 14 games while going 18-for-61 (.295) in that span. The first baseman is up to seven homers, 22 RBI, 26 runs scored and three stolen bases with a .222/.297/.359 slash line over 50 contests this season. Despite his recent success, he's striking out at a 31.5 percent clip and has struck out 32 times over 21 games in May.
-
Ryan Mountcastle BAL 1B
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Racks up three hits
20m agoMountcastle went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-3 win over the Red Sox.
Mountcastle has hit safely in his last six games, going 11-for-25 (.440) in that span. During the streak, he has a double in four of those six games, though he's added just two RBI and has not hit a home run since May 8. Nonetheless, the first baseman is putting together a strong campaign with a .280/.317/.468 slash line, six homers, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, 15 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 47 games.

Thomas White MIA SP
Marlins' Thomas White: Moving to High-A
26m agoWhite is being promoted to High-A Beloit, Fish on the Farm reports.
White owns a 3.18 ERA despite posting a 1.59 WHIP and opponents batting .274 against him over 34 innings so far in 2024 at Single-A Jupiter. However, the southpaw has done enough to show the organization that he's ready to face hitters at the next level, and he'll jump to the next level alongside fellow pitching prospect Noble Meyer.
-
Noble Meyer MIA SP
Marlins' Noble Meyer: Jumps to High-A
35m agoMeyer is being promoted to High-A Beloit, Fish on the Farm reports.
Meyer has been strong through eight starts at Single-A Jupiter this season, cruising to a 2.65 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with a 43:23 K:BB across 34 innings. He's proven that he's ready for the next level, as opposing hitters are batting just .149 against the 19-year-old right-hander so far in 2024.

Andrew Nembhard IND PG
Pacers' Andrew Nembhard: Shines in bigger role
1m agoNembhard totaled 24 points (10-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, 10 assists, one block and one steal over 39 minutes during Monday's 105-102 loss to the Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Even though the Pacers were swept by the Celtics, one positive outcome of this series was Nembhard's excellent play, which proved he's more than ready to handling a more prominent role in this offensive scheme. Nembhard will end his postseason run by scoring in double digits in seven appearances in a row, reaching the 20-point mark in three of the last five.
-
Pascal Siakam IND PF
Pacers' Pascal Siakam: Double-doubles in playoff exit
2m agoSiakam posted 19 points (8-18 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists over 39 minutes during Monday's 105-102 loss to Boston in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Siakam did what he could to avoid the elimination and the sweep, but the Pacers didn't have a realistic chance to complete the comeback without Tyrese Haliburton leading the offense. Despite the woes the team had in the final two games of the series, Siakam was productive, scoring at least 20 points in all but one of the games in the series vs. Boston and posting two double-doubles in that span.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Sniffs double-double in Game 4
4m agoHoliday ended Monday's 105-102 victory over the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals with 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and two assists over 38 minutes.
Holiday was deemed available despite being initially tabbed questionable due to an illness for the second game in a row, and he made his presence felt as a do-it-all, two-way guard in an offensive scheme where he occupies a secondary role. Despite the fact Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown often carry the Celtics, Holiday had some excellent performances against the Pacers, averaging 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game in the series.
-
Jayson Tatum BOS PF
Celtics' Jayson Tatum: Sniffs triple-double in Game 4 win
8m agoTatum totaled 26 points (11-26 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 13 rebounds, eight assists and one steal across 44 minutes during Monday's 105-102 victory over the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Even though Tatum needed 26 shots to score 26 points, the star forward once again came through when called upon duty, and he finished just two assists away from recording what would've been his first triple-double since April 21. Tatum has been on an absolute tear of late and has scored 25 or more points in all but one of his last eight contests, so he arrives into the NBA Finals full of confidence and perhaps playing his best basketball of the entire postseason run.
-
Jaylen Brown BOS SF
Celtics' Jaylen Brown: Another excellent showing
10m agoBrown ended with 29 points (11-22 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals over 44 minutes during Monday's 105-102 win over the Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Even though Jayson Tatum led the Celtics in scoring throughout the series and Jrue Holiday grabbed headlines for his excellent defensive play, no player was more consistent than Brown, who was named the MVP of the Eastern Conference Finals. Brown surpassed the 25-point mark in three of the four games he played against Indiana, though he repeat the same feat just three times in the previous two series combined.
-
Myles Turner IND C
Pacers' Myles Turner: Battles through back issue
1h agoTurner left Monday's Game 4 against the Celtics due to a back injury but was cleared to return for the second half, Tony East of SI.com reports. He finished with eight points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in the loss.
Turner's performance indicates that his back injury slowed him down, as he wasn't much of a factor in the 105-102 loss. The Texas product also contended with foul trouble, which limited his ability to be aggressive. Turner will now shift his attention to the offseason after his squad was swept by Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals.
-
Connor Brown EDM C
Oilers' Connor Brown: Chips in assist
23m agoBrown recorded an assist in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Brown has a goal and an assist over the last two games, his first time getting on the scoresheet in consecutive contests in all of 2023-24. The veteran winger is up to three points, six shots on net, five hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through nine playoff outings. Brown's recently solid play has helped him maintain a spot in the lineup over Corey Perry.
-
Evan Bouchard EDM D
Oilers' Evan Bouchard: Offers helper in loss
25m agoBouchard notched an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Bouchard helped out Zach Hyman's opening goal early in the first period. The Stars have at least somewhat neutralized Bouchard in the Western Conference Finals, limiting him to two assists in three contests. He has 22 points (eight on the power play), 49 shots on net, 24 blocks, 13 hits and a plus-12 rating over 15 playoff appearances after playing above a point-per-game pace in the first two rounds.
-
Adam Henrique EDM C
Oilers' Adam Henrique: Scores in return
27m agoHenrique scored a goal and added four hits in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Henrique missed seven games with an ankle injury and returned to a third-line role, playing 13:41 in this contest. He scored a goal late in the second period to tie the game at 3-3, but the Oilers' offense stopped there. Henrique has three points, five shots on net, 26 hits and an even plus-minus rating through seven playoff appearances. He's played in a variety of spots in the Oilers' lineup -- if the team continues to struggle, he may be moved from third-line center to a top-six spot on the wing.
-
Zach Hyman EDM C
Oilers' Zach Hyman: Knocks in goal
30m agoHyman scored a goal on seven shots, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Connor McDavid took a shot that banked in off Hyman's body at 2:02 of the first period. With four goals and an assist over his last five games, Hyman's offense is humming along at a fine pace. He's up to 13 tallies, 16 points, 63 shots on net, 34 hits and a plus-7 rating through 15 playoff contests while filling a top-line role.
-
Connor McDavid EDM C
Oilers' Connor McDavid: One of each Monday
32m agoMcDavid scored a goal on six shots, dished an assist and added three hits in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3.
McDavid was pulling the strings in the first period, banking a shot in off Zach Hyman for the opening goal before scoring one of his own. The Stars bounced back in the second, and McDavid had no further involvement in the scoring. The superstar center is up to four goals, 21 assists, 43 shots on net, 32 hits and a plus-5 rating through 15 playoff outings. Two of his tallies have come in the Western Conference Finals.
-
Stuart Skinner EDM G
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Yields four goals in loss
34m agoSkinner stopped 17 of 21 shots in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 3. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
For the second game in a row, the Oilers' defense did well at shot suppression, but it wasn't enough. Skinner squandered a 2-0 lead after the first period and has allowed eight goals on 78 shots through the first three games of the Western Conference Finals. Skinner briefly lost his starting job in the second round, but this is the first time he's lost consecutive contests this postseason. Game 4 is Wednesday in Edmonton, and head coach Kris Knoblauch hasn't revealed if it will be Skinner or Calvin Pickard who starts that game.
