You just don’t know what is around the corner. I was upset and cried a lot when I was told I would go on dialysis. Ive had to learn patience. I was patient when I was working, then I had to retire and couldnt drive so I lost my licence. I felt useless. Its strange the way things happen. It’s made me stronger. Try and help yourself by thinking that there are people out there worse off than you.

A clinical midwifery consultant in birthing services will wear many hats in a day - providing clinical recourses, advice, mentoring, education and upskilling and technical expertise.

Nate, who works at RBWH, works with a team who have ten birth suites and four birth centre rooms, all equipped with a birth ball, shower, bathtub, railings, bean bag and mat to help facilitate different types of requests for birth. 🛁

Providing Holistic care throughout the pregnancy journey is one of the paramount goals of a midwife. Seeing a mum and her family walk out the door, safe and happy - we couldn’t ask for anything more, Nate said. 💞

RBWH is looking for its next clinical midwifery consultant superstar to join the birthing services team. If this sounds like you, apply here: https://bit.ly/4dczFsd #WorkforusWednesday

Lymphoedema is a chronic condition, where fluid (called lymph) collects in a part of the body causing it to swell. It occurs either because there is too much fluid for a normal lymphatic system to process, or the lymphatic system isn’t working properly.

People with lymphoedema around the world describe having a difficult time finding a doctor with expertise in this area, which is why RBWH senior physiotherapist Natalie is conducting research through Griffith University, supported by RBWH, that explores lymphoedema from the perspective of Australian medical interns.

In many countries, medical lymphoedema specialists are not available. People with lymphoedema describe this as having a big impact on their lives, often limiting access to timely treatment and care, Natalie said.

It is hoped that findings from this research will help us to understand more about how lymphoedema is taught within medical training, what the impacts are to healthcare services, and how access to medical care for lymphoedema can be improved. 🙌

Well that’s is wonderful that she can help and pick it up . But why can’t they have others in other Hospitals to help others I have had a swollen under the knee it has moved around my leg . Nurses and doctors can’t touch it as it hurts can’t lean on it . But no one does anything to help me it’s painful I had a fall many years ago. And I think it just got worse feel’s fluidity starting in the other leg now too . So why not train others in each hospital to help . To far to go to RBWH .

Go Nat! 👏👏

Yessss Natty! Gorgeous pic of you, my clever friend ❤️

This was misdiagnosed as cellulitis but apparently it's lymphoma.
