VMI Community Updates

Institute leadership continues to communicate important information for cadets, their families, faculty & staff, and the VMI community at-large:

  • VMI will implement summer hours beginning Friday, May 24 and ending Thursday, Aug. 15. The Institute will be open Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Visitors to VMI's museums are encouraged to visit each museum's website for specific hours and tour availability.
  • The May 2024 Institute Report is now available. The latest edition of the Institute Report is now available on vmi.edu. Stories include a look at notable retirees, spring FTX, the latest theatre production, and a visit from Gov. Glenn Youngkin to post.
  • Congratulations to the Virginia Military Institute Ethics Team who recently placed second at the Military Ethics Case Competition held at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Stockdale Center for Ethical Leadership in Annapolis, Maryland.

VMI Welcomes American Legion Riders

The 7th annual Legacy Run of the Virginia American Legion Riders will make a stop at Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, June 14. The group, consisting of 50 to 100 motorcycles, will arrive on post at 8:45 a.m. and tour several buildings.

Biologists Share Research on Parasites

The Department of Biology at Virginia Military Institute hosted a joint meeting of the Helminthological Society of Washington and the Southeastern Society of Parasitologists in April. Over 100 biologists met in Marshall Hall.

Maj. Gen. Cedric T. Wins '85, superintendent, named Jamaal Walton '07 as Virginia Military Institute's next director of intercollegiate athletics. A decorated graduate of the Institute, Walton will assume the role effective next month.
