This week's broadcast features Jakub Hrůša’s CSO debut concert program, Smetana’s Má vlast. Opening the broadcast is Pierre Boulez conducting Mahler’s Totenfeier from a 1996 Deutsche Grammophon recording.
Alan Gilbert conducts a staged production of Leoš Janáček's seventh opera, The Cunning Little Vixen, a playful, yet poignant, reflection on the cycle of life.
This concert features a legendary pairing of conductor Daniel Barenboim and pianist Martha Argerich, along with Berlin Philharmonic. Argerich takes the spotlight for Beethoven’s Second Piano Concerto, and the concert closes with the poetic Third Symphony by Brahms.
