Win Air announces string of firsts in Taiwanese aviation market

Win Air announced today that it will hold formal launch ceremonies for its new charter and aircraft management service — the first in Taiwan — in Taipei on Oct. 29. Win Air flies an all-Gulfstream fleet and Gulfstream Aerospace is proud to support this groundbreaking new venture in Asia.

"This new service will provide increased mobility for Taiwanese executives and for others in the region and around the world," said Win Air President David Fei. "Our airplanes will carry them to all continents, most of them non-stop. And we will provide this service from the most convenient location for business in Taiwan."

"Mr. Fei and his team are pioneers," noted Roger Sperry, Gulfstream regional senior vice president, Sales, South America and Far East. "Asian businesses increasingly need this kind of service and Win Air brings together an experienced team to provide the highest level of service and safety. We are happy to do our part by providing legendary Gulfstream product support on a global basis."

Win Air, which began as a private flight department, earned its Air Operator Certificate (equivalent to Part 135 certification) from Taiwan's Civil Aeronautics Administration on Aug. 19, 2010. The company operates two U.S.-registered aircraft, a Gulfstream IV and a G450, and recently took delivery of a G550, which is the first business jet to receive Taiwanese registration.

In 2014, Win Air will take delivery of the first G650 to enter service in Taiwan. This aircraft will also be available for charter, offering the highest speeds, longest range and most comfortable and productive cabin of any business jet in the world.

"It would be an understatement to say that we are excited to be able to offer the G650 to the business community. We are thrilled," said Fei. "We will be able to save executives up to an hour versus any other business jet flying on routes to Europe and America. This airplane will bring our clients the ultimate in high quality service."

One of Win Air's first charter missions carried an executive team to European destinations including London, Helsinki and Prague before returning to Taipei — a trip accomplished in 26 hours of flight time. The company expects high demand for similar long-range missions, as well as shorter trips to Japan, China and elsewhere in Asia.

Taipei base is ideal for business aviation

In another first for business aviation in Taiwan, Win Air is located at Taipei's downtown Taipei Songshan International Airport, making it extremely convenient for business travelers. The airport has long been divided between commercial and military use, but business aviation had been excluded. Win Air received strong government backing to convert a part of the airport for business aviation.

"We are fortunate that the government recognizes business aviation as an important part of the transportation mix and valuable to the growth of Taiwan's global business activities," said Fei.

Win Air expects to have a dedicated FBO facility in operation by the end of 2011.
