A Splendid Tour of India!
The Innkeeper will be coordinating a wonderful trip to the Golden Triangle of India in 2015.   Please join us for a two-week trip including travel time and 10 full days in Delhi, Jaipur, and Agra.

Guest Rooms
Two large guest rooms, each with luxury private attached bath, are located on the second floor.   As a leisure travel or romantic getaway choice, you can't beat Goodwin House for both romantic and family friendly surroundings.   The Innkeepers are attentive without being intrusive.   Take a look at the photos on the Rooms and Rates page to see what Goodwin House has to offer.

We welcome both business and leisure travelers.   Burton is a great getaway destination, or a good stopping point between the central U.S. and the East Coast.   As a business destination, Goodwin House is one of only a few choices close to the industy in Middlefield, Parkman, and Newbury.   See the Accommodations tab for more about business traveler rates for extended stays of three days or more.

The Building
Much of this 1828 home is in original condition, including fine woodwork trim and wood floors, as well as original foundation and mortise and tenon joinery.  Two large guest rooms, each with private “en-suite bath” provide a luxurious weekend getaway, or comfortable favorite stop for business travel.  The home was built for Dr. Erastus Goodwin, who was the region’s physician for decades.  See our tab on “About Goodwin House” for more about the history of the building and special furnishings.

Local Attractions
The local and regional area offers much for families, couples, and individuals to do.  Burton Village is an antique-shopper’s destination, with many more antique shops within 15 miles in any direction.  Festivals and fairs include the Apple Butter Festival, Maple Syrup Festival, Great Geauga County Fair, Pancake Breakfasts every Sunday in March, Burton’s Antique and Classic Car Shows, and Christmas and other Holiday events.  The Burton area is part of the 4th largest Amish settlement in the world.  See our tab on “Activities” for local attractions including nearby restaurants, a calendar of events, and links to special events and activities in the area.

Special Activities
Under the "Activities" tab, click on Special Attractions page to learn of special activities and services available through Goodwin House.  A new cooking class series began in 2008.  These classes are open to all.  Overnight stay at Goodwin House is not a requirement.  Sign up for one or many.

Award Winning Chili! - The "Buy Local Cooking Tour and Class" sponsored an entry to the 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off in Middlefield in February, 2008.   Using local ingredients such as Byler's freshly ground beef and pork sausage, organic garlic and onions from AB Organic Grocery Store (Amish), and Tame Your Tiger special blended spices, Robyn's chili entry was judged by a panel and won 2nd prize!   Click HERE for the recipe (PDF file).
