Got the namesake pizza. Was perfectly cooked, crispy, minimal flop, foldable, great ingredients and tasty sauce. It's just absolutely delicious, prices are a bargain, ideal to share with friends and family. This is closer to what your typically find in New York. Will be ordering again !
We also got the Marsala with homemade pasta. We added chicken to it, which ended up being the star of that show. Really flavorful! I wish there a bit more ham and mushrooms in there, but that's just my preference.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 376145218950Aug 19, 2019
One of my favorite food is pizza. I have a tradition, I go on a trip somewhere and I have pizza there. It's a thing I do. So since I was in Boston for a while, one of the types of food I had to try was pizza. I came here because my mother found this and recommended it because it was in Guy Fieri's Dinners, Drive-Ins, and Dives tv show. I thought sure why not.
Small place, cozy atmosphere. Service is wonderful as it's a mom and pop place. My brother and I had a pizza and my mother had some pasta. Food was good, but I was expecting more when I ate the pizza. I would give this place overall 3.5 stars if possible.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 21, 2020
This was our stop on the way to the airport and it did not disappoint! We spent around $20 for both the sandwich and pasta and both were delicious! The pasta was garlicky and cooked perfectly, the sandwich was generously sized, a good amount of sauce (and we got extra on the side because we love sauce) the bread was perfect for the sandwich and the two men working there were very friendly! All in all would stop here every time I fly

If you're in Boston & hungry for good Italian food, stop by Italian Express Pizzeria & you won't be disappointed. We highly recommend the spaghetti and meatballs - my husband said the "meatballs and the sauce were awesome!" He also said that if he didn't make his flight back to Florida he would go back to Italian Express Pizzeria - it was that good! It came with a yummy side of fresh bread that was perfect for soaking up the leftover sauce.
The restaurant is open for dine-in, and the tables seemed spread apart (not sure if 6 feet) in the small restaurant. Their focus seems to be on carry-out orders, and they offer delivery too. The parking attendant at the Embassy Suites Hotel recommended Italian Express Pizzeria - which was perfect because it was within walking distance of the hotel. It's always best to ask the locals where they go to eat, so you don't have to resort to tourist traps.
A picture of Guy Fieri is hanging up in the restaurant and on the back of their business cards. They said he stops by there a few times a year when in town, so he must like it too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim E.Greensboro, NC9911026Aug 6, 2021
Let me start by saying my phone will not let me post pictures but this was a 5 star plus food experience.
I ordered a large slice of pizza. Added pepperoni & mushrooms. Large is an understatement...1/4 of a pie! Foldable...just the right amount of sauce & cheese! I added pepperoni & mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh and cooked perfectly! Super satisfied! And full.
My friend ordered eggplant parm. Came out cheese covered and piping hot. Eggplant was not breaded and the dish was perfectly layered with homemade pasta. Sauce was chunky and plentiful! She ate and ate and can probably make two more meals from this entree!
Guy Fieri has visited twice and for sure he got this one right!!
Can't wait to return!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 20, 2017
We certainly came at the right time. In mid-December with the wind blowing and the temperature around freezing? We were the only people in the place. I swear! In the summer, the waits can run to three hours. Not today, my Yelp friends!
We got an order of the Spicy Calamari to start. A good sized portion that's pretty solidly battered and mixed with banana peppers and red pepper flakes for some "go" to it. It was quite tasty and a perfect appetizer.
For mains, my dining partner got the chicken parmesan and it was a massive portion. Certainly more than a pound of fresh fettuccine with two large chicken breasts. Enough food here for two.
I got the Frutti di Mare. Again, a large portion served super hot. Lots of clams and mussels and shrimp and calamari mixed in with the garlicky red sauce and on top of a whole lot of fettuccine. Just delicious all around.
Service was very good and the restaurant is super clean. It's only three short blocks from the Maverick MBTA station which puts it in reach of everyone. Prices are low. Honestly, they could double the prices for this quality/quantity and no one should blink an eye.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - MS M.Dallas, TX015346Feb 27, 2022
I found out last night that this restaurant had closed.
I dont know why this restaurant is closed, but after going there to eat several times before and now seeing that it was closed last night, I was upset.
Also, I saw some recent reviews that I know from going to this restaurant, are false. I hope that if Italian Express closed due to any false racist crap comments on Yelp, or other social media, that those haters are happy, because in my opinion those rumors were and are false & bullcrap!
I ate here with my family each time we visited Boston and I can say, the food was always excellent and the owners were not racist as my family is mixed race and, two of my children are gay. This restaurant will be missed.
- That is one thing I cant stand about Yelp. They let unscrupulous subscribers post FALSE negative reviews that simply are not true knowing they are not true because the owners contact them to remove the false reviews and they wont and there is no recourse for the owners. And Yelp still allows these unscrupulous subscribers to post negative false reviews knowing they are false and that they will ruin that businesses business, but they dont care.
Make sure that if you are reviewing Yelp reviews that you consider the multitude of the reviews and and focus on reviews discussing the food quality, taste and service . Then, If you have any questions after that, contact the owners or business representative and ask them. They will tell you the truth.
Lastly, there is nothing wrong with having a political opinion or sexual opinion that is different than what the media supports. This is America and we all have the right to our opinions and to have an opinion. That is how and why our country was able to grow and flourish and not be a third world country. Its our RIGHT. Stifling and censoring speech IS killing the success of this country.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - J G.Newton Highlands, Newton, MA472013Jul 9, 2019Updated review
Saturday night, I called in for two large pizzas, shrimp scampi and bbq chicken, and one big slice of cheese.
Customer service - The man who answered the phone was extremely unfriendly. His tone of voice was miserable and choppy. After all the times I said "please" and "thank you", he never once said "you're welcome". He didn't even say "bye" and simply just hung up the phone. He clearly needs to be re-trained on how to at least fake being friendly and courteous.
Quality of food - The toppings were minimal and they did not go close enough to the edge. There was far too much crust. The entire pizza was dry and crunchy. I'm not even sure if they put any cheese on the pizzas. The crust could have been a dangerous boomerang as it was rock hard.
Sad to say we won't be ordering from here again. I wish Jonathan and Jim would hire better employees. The pizzas and staff just aren't the same as they used to be. I wish my husband hadn't picked up the pizzas and kept the $45 to purchase elsewhere. If I had gone myself and opened the boxes to check the pizzas, I would have refused them. Maybe if they had adequate toppings, it wouldn't have appeared so over cooked. It's like they skimped on the toppings in order to make a second pizza with the normal amount that it would have required to make just one.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 20, 2017Previous reviewMonday night, I called in at 6:29pm to place an order for pick up. 3 large pizzas and 1 pasta dinner. I was told 30 mins. My brother-in-law went to pick it up at 7pm. He was told the order was not ready. He texted me at 7:19pm saying he was still waiting for the food. Customer service is slacking. It wasn't like this before. It won't stop me from returning but I wish things were like before.
The food is good but customer service could improve. I guess I know to call in earlier next time.
