Kevin Washburn to conclude his term as College of Law dean

Kevin Washburn, who joined the University of Iowa College of Law as dean in 2018, has announced that he will step down from the position at the end of the year, effective on Dec. 31, 2024. During his tenure as dean, Washburn developed a vision for the College of Law as the “Writing Law School” and helped develop an ambitious new environmental law program known as the Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative.

Law students tackle a complex issue, gain appreciation for Iowa community

Through the Community Empowerment Law Project (CELP), Iowa Law students worked with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities and their partnership with the City of Dubuque to collect and synthesize information, and create an action plan to help K-12 Marshallese students improve school attendance.

Iowa Law School announces faculty appointment for Lorraine Gaynor

Monday, April 8, 2024
The University of Iowa College of Law is pleased to announce that Lorraine Gaynor, who earned her law degree from the Iowa Law School in 2011, will join its faculty as assistant professor of legal analysis, writing, and research. Professor Gaynor currently serves as senior staff attorney for Iowa Legal Aid, a nonprofit organization that provides legal assistance and education to low-income and vulnerable Iowans. She will begin her appointment in August 2024.
