Creative Photography Fall 2012

Hi everyone,

Enrollment is low for the Fall 2012 Creative Photography class.  If you’re interested in taking Art 62 or know someone who would like to take the class, there is still room.  Please contact me as soon as possible if you’re interested.

Additional Photography Class Added

We’ve just added Art 71 – Intermediate Digital Photography to the Fall 2012 schedule.  If you’ve had Art 70 and would like to take Art 71, you kn longer have to wait until spring!

If you’ve already had Art 71, you can’t repeat it, but you can repeat Art 70.

Email me if you have questions, and please spread the word to anyone else who might be interested.

Annular Solar Eclipse

On Sunday, May 20, Shasta College will host a solar eclipse webcast from the main campus North parking lot. The partial eclipse begins at 4:00 p.m. and progresses to a total eclipse at 5:25 p.m.  Attendance is free, so come early, and bring your lawn chair! Solar glasses will be available for $2.00 per pair at the event.

University of North Dakota professors Dr. Timothy Young (Physics) and Dr. Ronald Marsh (Computer Science) will be broadcasting live imagery as part of a collaboration called SEMs, whose mission is to help the public take the first step towards understanding astronomy and celestial mechanics.

Redding is in a unique location to witness this annular eclipse in which the moon aligns exactly with the sun, although since the moon is slightly smaller, a ring of light from the sun is visible. The next eclipse in Redding will not take place until the year 2045.

For more information on the SEMs project, visit their website at www.sems.und.edu.

Final Critique

Just a reminder…

The final critique is Thursday, May 17 at 12:30.

Your prints and a written, 1-2 paragraph statement are due in class.

We are out of mat boards, so either purchase some from Ellis or the bookstore or neatly trim your prints.

If we don’t finish on Thursday, we will continue on Tuesday, May 22 at 1:00.

Work will not be accepted after Thursday.
