Honeymoon on California's Central Coast

California's a huge state, and there are many areas that might be considered ideal honeymoon destinations, but here, I am highlighting what I believe to be the perfect honeymoon destination beginning in San Francisco and with most of your stay on the central coast.

Attractions include Monterey,Pacific Grove,Carmel-by-the-Sea, Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, and much more!

The following intinerary is for those couples who want variety, romance, nature and adventure.

Sample Intinerary:

Day 1 & 2 - Fly into San Francisco. Stay two nights. Justenough time to experience the culture, nightlife and beauty that abounds in this romantic city!

Day 3 & 4 - Monterey

On 3rd day rent a car (in San Francisco) and drive to Monterey which is about 100 miles south. Spend the day in Monterey, see the Aquarium and perhaps visit Cannery Row. Stay overnight in Monterey.

4th day - Monterey - Experience the magnificent wine tours.Stay overnight in Monterey.

5th day to final day - Carmel
On 5th day, take the spectacular '17 mile drive' from Monterey to Carmel-by-the-Sea and Carmel Valley, (a little further inland). The famous '17 mile drive', is one of them most romantic and scenic stretches of road in the United States. It starts at Monterey and ends at Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Final day - On your last day, make sure you leave enough time to drive leisurely back to San Francisco airport.

Monterey:

Visitors come to the Monterey Peninsula and surrounding areas from around the world, drawn by the climate, the scenery and many other attractions. For more information about visiting the Monterey area, visit:

"Its history is the history of California itself; its traditions memorialized forever in the books of John Steinbeck. In a relatively few short years, Monterey has grown from a quaint fishing village rich in local color to a bustling seaside city . The days of Steinbeck's Cannery Row still echo along the famous waterfront of Monterey's boat harbor, and a thriving downtown and world-famous aquarium." http://www.mbayaq.org/

The world-renowned wine region of Monterey is not to be missed. You can find all kinds of information about wine tasting tours (and more) at:

They have touring maps available too!

Carmel

At the tail end of 17 Mile Drive http://www.pebblebeach.com/17miledrive.html
is the storybook village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. It's a European style village located above Carmel Beach's breathtaking white sand. "Its white-sand beaches, tree-lined streets and fairy-tale houses have made it an inspiration to poets and artists for years. There's plenty of unique shopping and dining among the winding, tree-lined streets. www.carmel-california.com

Carmel Valley, ( a little further inland) is also known as the "Sunbelt" of Monterey County with an average of over 250 sunny days a year.
