Approximately 87 percent of NA’s 92 teachers and administrators hold advanced degrees and 20 have earned doctoral degrees. The average tenure of NA teachers is 10 years.
NA is the 1st IB school in New Jersey. Approximately 94% of the Class of 2024 is enrolled in at least one International Baccalaureate (IB) course. NA offers AP courses and exam preparation in select subjects.
More than 60 student clubs and activities are available to students in the Upper School. There are 24 extracurricular clubs for Middle School students.
Upper School students in grades 9-11 pursue a passion or discover a new interest during June Term. Middle School students engage in a year-ending Capstone travel adventure during the final two weeks of the school year.
NA's Jazz band Chameleon won 11-straight state championships. More than 40 visual and performing arts courses are offered and led by NA's experienced faculty.
The prestigious Ad Lumen Award is presented annually to seniors who, in the eyes of their peers and of the faculty, best represent the ideals expressed in the Newark Academy mission statement. While the award recipients typically excel in the classroom, what truly distinguishes them is their commitment to enriching the NA community.
