One of my all-time favorites. I cry every time I read it.... [The book] is a beautiful script about parenthood, a poignant parable about life and death, a testimony to when the roles of child and parent become blurry. The story reminds you that no matter how grown up you are, you're always someone's child; that no matter how "adult" you are, you're never too old to be loved by your parents. It makes me appreciate even more how my mother still calls me and my brother (despite us being 32- and 22-years-old, respectively) by our childhood nicknames, Pussycat and Tchotchke (Yiddish for "knickknack"). Sheila McGraw was born in Toronto and began her career as an illustrator and copywriter for retail fashion outlets and editorial publications. In 1986 she was approached by Firefly Books to illustrate "Love You Forever" written by Robert Munsch. As that book achieved success she wrote and/or illustrated several craft and children's books. McGraw's "Papier-Mache for Kids" was awarded the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award. Her artwork has been widely exhibited and represented by the Loch Galleries in Canada.
The best seller Love You Forever has been voted Most Iconic Book Cover in a readers' poll conducted by CBC. Thank you to everyone who voted for Love You Forever.

Robert Munsch is the author of more than 25 books for children including The Paper Bag Princes and Stephanie's Ponytail. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and studied to be a Jesuit priest before deciding to work with children instead. He taught in a variety of nursery schools and daycare centers while he earned an MA in Early Childhood Education. In 1975, Munsch and his wife, Ann, moved to Guelph, Ontario. The Munschs have three children: Julie, Andrew, and Tyya (see them all in Something Good!).

I remember reading this as a kid and loving it. It’s fun being able to read this to my own kids now and see it take on a whole different meaning. I love that it comes in a board book version (paper books get destroyed real quick in my house). I will admit reading the story as an adult , I have a lot more questions about the strange nature of the mom sneaking into her adult son’s room to rock him. BUT it doesn’t matter because it still makes me tear up at the end, no matter how many questions I have. The sentiment of the book is sweet. I’ve always loved the saying, “I’ll love you forever ,I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living my baby you’ll be.” So much that I have a sign in my kids room to remind me of it.
