These elections have indicated how much the people of India value their democracy.”

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India - After His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in the Tsuglagkhang this morning, the second session of teachings for young Tibetans opened with the recitation of a verse of admiration for His Holiness and his accomplishments. Next, members of the Introduction to Buddhism Course, adult women and men, engaged in an energetic demonstration of their debating skills.

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India - As His Holiness the Dalai Lama drove through the courtyard to the Tsuglagkhang, the Main Tibetan Temple, this morning, costumed dancers whirled in welcome. At the foot of the temple two students stepped forward to offer the traditional ‘Chema Changphu’. His Holiness took a pinch of one and dipped his finger in the other. He surveyed the crowd, many of whom held up white silk scarves.

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India - His Holiness the Dalai Lama has written to Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, and Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim, to congratulate them both on their parties’ success in the state assembly elections. He observed that over the years, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have made tremendous strides in development and prosperity.
