I go to crepe restaurants in search of anything like Ti Couz and it just doesn't exist. Ti Couz was on a level all their own. The guy who said he is crying a river of bloody tears that they are out of business is 100% spot on. Such a shame that it's so hard for small businesses to keep things going over time. Support local always. Keep your money in your community. Boycott corporate greed.

So I didn't know Ti Couz is supposed to be a creperie bretonne. That's fancy French talk for Brittany-style crepe house. No, not ooops, she did it again Britney. Brittany like in France next to the water. I guess in Brittany they make crepes into these wide, squarish pancakes out of buckwheat flour. Buckwheat....did I say Buckwheat?
Take a wiffen...

But I digress. Eddie ain't here. Just that damn chalkboard nobody sees 'cause nobody tells you that you're supposed to go the next room and sign up for a table. Ah, the French. Once you figure that out, that is, if you figure that out, then it's relatively smooth sailing on the Seine. It has that unmistakably Frenchy French country vibe like you're in France like in the country. Get it?
Jamie W. went for the Complete Crepe ...Overpromising? perhaps ...it has a scrambled egg, gruyere cheese and ham (see my photo). Very French, n'est-ce pas? It was decent but could have used a sauce. He didn't take advantage of the free creme fraiche and came to regret that decision. I went for the Champignon, Fromage & Amandes, which is fancy French talk for 'shrooms, cheese and almonds. Mine was better 'cause they spilled a can of cream of mushroom soup on top, I think (see my photo). It was okay, too. I'm guessing each were $8 since the menu requires you calculate the price yourself. Ah, the French.
Honestly, what overshadowed the entrees were the soup and salad. The $3.75 Salade Verte is a nice, refreshing bowl of greens dominated by the butter lettuce and the vinegary house dressing (see my photo). Best of all is the $4.75 Onion Soup, a pretty hefty bowl topped with melty cheese steeped in a salty broth (see my photo). That would have been fine as a meal in itself. No room for the dessert crepes this time. Demain peut-etre. Kiss-kiss.

Ti Couz is an excellent choice for a weekend brunch. I found their Bloody Mary to be one of the best I've had in the city. While it was missing the typical celery stick, they give you a cocktail shrimp.
Yes, this place is quite popular and you may need to wait in a line. As you walk in, go to the room to the right and place your name on their board. We went around noon on a Saturday and waited 20 minutes.
As you may all know, street parking in this area is quite competitive.Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Jul 17, 2010
I walked to Ti Couz feeling stressed and depressed. It was only noon...what is wrong with me?
I ordered the Salmon and Onion Crepe. The $10.00 signatured crepe had slices of lox, chopped chives and caramelized onions in a thin rye crepe with a drizzle of creme fraiche.
The savory crepe tasted very unique and loaded with taste. Kinda reminds me of a Lox Bagel.
My crepe: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ZEPkIeOUs-ZFRocSwVISRA?select=eOyAN-9Dlq-hKfiiP6WQvw
I also ordered a Cosmopolitan. The $9.00 "Girly-girly" cocktail indeed looks a like drink for a girl. All I know that the popular cocktail comprised with Vodka and Cointreau, but I'm not sure what other kind of potent ingredient(s) the bartender put in my cocktail. Nevertherless, that cocktail got me extremely "BOMBED"!

After my meal and cocktail, I felt happy and contented; despite stumbling left and right along busy 16th Street.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jun 7, 2010Updated review
I don't know what we were thinking going here AFTER Little Star but we still went...
Note: they don't serve any alcohol unless you're eating. Just be warned b/c that's what they told us...
I shared a banana nutella crepe with HI haole (took a couple of bites and I was done. Way too full... was saddened but I didn't want to feel that ill!)
I love their mocha here! It's just great!
The rest of my siblings ordered dessert crepes too but I forgot what they got... I remember them devouring it so they liked it.
Love this place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 8, 2010Previous reviewWent here for dessert with my date - we were both chocoholics and even if we were stuffed from Little Star - we managed to save room!
We got there before they were closing, place had 3-4 groups of folks. We sat inside and since my date let me choose the pizza, I told him he can choose the dessert. He suggested the crepe with nutella and banana. He also ordered a cappuccino and I ordered their hot chocolate.
We talked some more and then food came. Hot chocolate looked yummy and it tasted good too! Their food presentation just amazes me. Crepe was good too... date was impressed. He suggested going there next time since I'm in my "no rice" zone. I said sure...
The bill came and I said I got it...he again said, "no still my treat" - thanks! It felt great to be taken care of for once!
This place is becoming my favorite!Feb 22, 2010Previous reviewI love this place! I can't believe my sis didn't take me to this place sooner!
We went here after climbing this past Saturday and it was mid afternoonish so it wasn't as packed (I can just imagine how it is during breakfast time!) We got seated right away and since I was starving, I opted for the "complete" with a double mocha. My sis ordered a cheese plate with soup.
Food came quickly and I devoured it! It was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating, even if I knew we were having steak at 8 pm! Oh my gosh, I'm still salivating over how good my "complete" was!
Total for our meal together was $40! Can't beat that! Will definitely come back here... I highly recommend this place! - Jun 27, 2009

#88 on the 7x7 List: Buckwheat crepe and a French cider
-Tasty? The savory buckwheat crepe has a nice texture and the dry French cider makes an unlikely yet interesting accompaniment
-Service: Friendly
-Ambiance: Rustic; plenty of bar-seating
-Worth the trip/try? This place seems fun to hang out with a bunch of friends for drinks and crepesHelpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 3427572289Jan 11, 2009
After reading about Paris, I've been on the hunt for an authentic crepe place in the bay area. This place comes highly recommended by friends and Yelp!
We had the following:
- Complete/egg, mushroom (this was an addition), ham & cheese (this was drenched with a savory mushroom sauce and was a delight to eat! You have a choice of how you want your eggs cooked - sunnyside up or scrambled.)
- Saumon Fume/ Smoked Salmon (with scallions & homemade creme fraiche) - This was good too!
- La Delice banana & ice cream & nutella - anything with nutella must be delicious!!
Overall, I loved everything here! Food was great - cooked fresh and served while it's hot. It is located in the Mission so parking might be a problem if you don't come at the right time.
This is definitely a must try! Too bad it's in the city or I'd come here every Sunday for brunch.
Now - back to my hunt for the best creperie in the South Bay!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 2, 2010
I really liked the casual decor and atmosphere of this place. Plus the awning caught my eye as we were driving by, before I even knew this was the place we were planning on going! The square crepes looked really cool but it turns out they just make big round ones and fold them into squares.
My friend and I decided to sit at the bar to watch the chef cook the crepes. This was really nice as we got to see a lot of the different flavors being made. We'd take pictures and the chef would pose for us, we'd ask questions, and he'd let us try some of the sauces.
The seafood definitely didn't look fresh as reflected in some other reviews. We'd just come from a dessert spot so we went with a savory crepe, and settled on the ratatouille with mushroom sauce as that seemed a unanimously popular choice.
Ratatouille w/ Mushroom Sauce - the vegetables were NOT fresh. As with the seafood, they'd been sitting in containers all day. They must've cooked a giant batch in the morning and used it throughout the day. The vegetables were definitely soggy and old. Only one corner of our crepe had a slight crisp - it was actually more soggy but that may be because of the extra mushroom sauce, which they pour over the whole thing. About the sauce - pretty good flavor, but it has this icky sour aftertaste.
Have to say, the sausage crepe looked good. They cook an egg sunny side up egg in it and there's lots of meat, cooked fresh. IF I ever come back, I guess I'll go with that one.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 14, 2011
So many crepes to choose from! Next time I'm in the area I'd consider going back and trying another type.
As for the Nutella/banana crepe that I ordered, it would have been better if there was more Nutella. It was a bit plain.
I am sure that had I selected another option I'd have found one I adored.
The presentation of the crepes was pretty cool. The ones that contain rum were set on fire!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 6, 2010
I love waking up in the morning and seeing sunlight peeking through my slate gray curtains.
It was Sunday. That only meant one thing.
Brunch at Ti Couz with a digalicous Yelpette.
I found parking 2 blocks from here. As I was walking down 16th st, I took in the sights (dude hitting another person's bumper 'coz he can't parallel park for shit), sounds (*honk*) and smells (pee mixed with nearby Indian resto's curry scent) of the Mission district. Thank goodness the inside is a homey and inviting place.
The menu lets you build your own crepe and there are a LOT of possibilities. You start with a base and add toppings. Sweet, savory, fruit-filled, with ice cream or without, chocolate sauce, WHITE chocolate sauce, etc. It took me awhile to make up my mind but I settled on a banana filled crepe with nutella topping and chantilly cream. My friend had the ham, scrambled eggs and cheese crepe.
Made with buckwheat, these have a slightly grainier texture but when serve right off the grill, it evokes that perfect mouth-feel of a comfort food. (what?! nutella is comfort food!) My bananas weren't mushed up which I liked, and my friend's crepe was pretty tasty as well. I enjoyed my organic apple cider; it was crisp and slightly sweet. I just thought it was weird that it was served cold, rather than the warm version that I'm used to. I felt slightly guilty having such a sweet indulgent treat for breakfast but I needed to cross it off my Big Eat SF list:
#88 Buckwheat crepe and french cider at Ti Couz
Expect to spend $8-$11 per crepe depending on what's your base/toppings and other extra trimmings. Still reasonable price for brunch. I wished that our waiter checked up on us more often, although I was too busy relishing every single bite to even care.
A few minor details: you need to ask for water and they don't do take out. Ti Couz is taking steps in preserving resources (it says on their menu that it takes 2 cups of water to sanitize their glasses) and invites you to enjoy their crepes freshly made. Why shouldn't you? it's the only way to do so.Helpful 49Thanks 0Love this 48Oh no 0
