  Summary

  Computer decided to update to this new software version...... Had to uninstall this am due to inability to save a document I received without starting a (paid) account. Not what I want.....I want to be able to open and save a document. Period. Going back to Version 11 if possible...also if I get Adobe 11, I will be changing my computer settings to never allow auto updates. Quite unhappy this moment....I have a ton of work to do today and this has put me behind 2 hours already as I have to save a legal document before I can continue. Thanks Adobe.....NOT.....

  ridiculous design - it is as if they never tried the program before releasing it - horrible display feature - Also make sure you do NOT allow your computer to do auto updates (disable), or it will keep trying to install the hunk of junk repeatedly even though you are using Adobe XI which worked very well for display, opening a pdf, adding text, signatures, etc.

  This is the first time I've ever submitted an online review. I created an account specifically for this. This is the worst PDF program I've EVER dealt with. It CONSTANTLY crashes; I'm creating this because I lost 30 min of my typed med school lecture notes. User functions are an absolute minimum. You can't even save an individual PDF pages, nor paste pictures from outside sources. Absolutely peice of sht program.

• Opens nothing: Failed to connect to a DDE server

  None - does not open the program or a PDF. This version does not even deserve one star!

  I downloaded Adobe Reader DC from the adobe.com which installed it on my Windows 10 desktop PC. It will not open the program or a PDF. Best solution I found on the various forums was to change the security setting in the Adobe Reader preferences. But how can I do that when the program doesn't even open?

  Summary

  I'm tired of wasting my time troubleshooting something that should be no trouble at all. Good-bye Adobe Reader. Hello, Foxit Reader!

  None, except ability to read PDF documents

  (1) Complicated interface, e.g. after you click on the Save icon (which normally means to save as the current file), it asks you where you want to save it, thus forcing you to duplicate the effort of locating the file you are already using (2) I used the "Fill in and sign" features to fill out two forms. In both cases Adobe Reader then refused to either print the completed forms or save them. I actually had to fill out both of them by hand, and then scan them (so I would have a permanent record), thus wasting even more of my time.

  Summary

  My experience with Adobe (Flash player as well as Reader, and Adobe Acrobat) is that it takes very little pride in the quality of its products.

• Worst version of acrobat since Windows 3.1

  It's free and fast enough (running a SSD so everything's fast). Adobe is probably working on fixing it?

  This is the most unstable piece of software on my computer right now - it crashes frequently so saving is more important than ever. The update made the saving process cumbersome by introducing a new (buggy) UI instead of using the standard windows GUI. It always directs you to save to the cloud first and doesn't remember your saving preferences. Viewing preferences are also not saved so I have to close side panels and navigation panels each time I open a document - very annoying. Does NOT autosave, does crash to desktop frequently when running multiple open documents.

  I've lost all sorts of data due to crashes which is lowering my productivity.

  Has a lot of features. Seems to start up rather quickly

  It is very, very ,very bloated. As large as 3D video games were in the late '90s, early 2000s. Has processes running in the background to quick start the program because it is so large.

  Summary

  Adobe Reader DC is an 80MB download, and results in a installed size of about 380MB! This is huge! As big as, say the video games Half-life 1 + Opposing force + Blue Shift! For users that don't need many features, besides being able to read the PDF, highlight, insert text anywhere in the PDF, fill in fields, sign and copy text from the PDF, Adobe Reader DC is highly, highly bloated. I can do the same thing with Fox-it Reader 2.2, which is a few years old but is only 6MB, installed! The current version of fox-it is a 40MB install file, so it's bloated too. Adobe and Foxit should make light versions of their PDF readers for people that don't need many of the features the full program has. Or have these features as plugins, so during the installation process, users can choose what features they want, and which they don't.

  Functionally, a big downgrade from XI. XI was good, fairly quick, fairly flexible (except for not being able to underline without giving up a third of your page real-estate), did most of what you need to. DC, if you're lucky, might open your file after a bit of a wait. that's it, all other functionality is hit or miss.
