Solid Thai option in West Town. Big dining room where you're always sure to get a seat, plus they do take out/delivery. They actually have 3 locations within the city.
BYOB! ...which is always a plus.
There menu is huge so you're sure to find something for everyone there.
Their crab rangoon ($4.95) is crispy and quite tasty.
The Angel Wings ($6.75) are pretty interesting. Little chicken wings but they have been hollowed out so they are basically boneless, then filled with ground chicken, glass noodles and veggies. I thought this was a pretty cool appetizer and they were tasty to boot.
Pad See Eiw is $9.25 which seems reasonable but then $2 more to add any type of protein which is kind of pushing it. It was a good dish though not overly big or anything to justify the price. We both did enjoy it though and it tasted A-OK.
Attentive and friendly service, just all around a good Thai joint.Helpful 28Thanks 0Love this 22Oh no 0 - Ameer S.Chicago, IL253335140Feb 15, 2018
Highlights of this review: BYOB, $7.75 lunch deal, quality is on par for Thai in the US.
I live pretty close to this place, and never really gave it much attention as it looked like any other American-ized Thai spot that an arrogant guy who lived in thailand, such as myself, generally avoids, but decided to give it a try today since I saw their lunch special was only $7.75!! It includes soup, an appetizer (today it's an egg roll), and a main (mostly Thai, but some Japanese such as katsu and usual Chinese like kung pao and sesame chicken). The Thai options are mostly stir fries, curries, and rice noodle dishes.
I got the red curry with chicken. Once you get over the fact that it's an Americanized version, which you can't really blame them for, it's actually pretty delicious.
They have sushi on their menu and a sushi glass compartment set up in the restaurant, but I'm pretty sure that's not an actual offering anymore or it's just done in the kitchen.
Just a few other people were here, and the service wasn't an issue at all. The servers were Thai and very nice.
Overall 4 stars, because though it wasn't exceptional or unique, you can't blame them for doing the Americanized-Thai-food-economic-lunch-special ordeal and doing it well (aka meeting mediocre quality expectations) . It's a place where you don't come to get surprised or blown away. It's like reviewing a Burger King and expecting the whopper to be mind blowingly different from others, and reviewing them as such.
For my real Thai fix, you'll find me at JJ Thai (Best Thai in west town, easily, and that's being modest).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Holly N.Des Plaines, IL419173352Mar 17, 2018
Arrived here about an hour before they closed (I know I know I'm a horrible person for that one) but it's really hard to find a Thai restaurant these days that serves sticky rice with mango - other than key lime pie it's my FAVORITE. So sue me!!!
There was one other couple dining here...it was dead. The server took our order promptly. I had chicken satay (I prefer beef but it wasn't on the menu) and steamed rice. I had Thai ice tea of course that was delicious , so I ordered a refill. This stuff is amazing at any restaurant really and if you have never had a Thai ice tea you are missing out, my friend. Dinner was quickly served. It was pretty good. No complaints really but I'm not giving 5 stars because nothing really struck me as amazing. 4 stars rather than 3 because they had sticky rice with mango!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rosalind R.La Grange, IL0522Jun 22, 2017
Great, original traditional Thai food!
The restaurant is very clean and the service is excellent.
I'll definitely frequent this place, good for takeout as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - EDILSA E.Chicago, IL431914Jan 7, 2018
This place is really what started my love for Thai but lately the quantity, customer service, and overall appearance of the place is literally going to "shit." Portions are smaller than ever. Chicken satay pieces are smaller, noodles in the chicken noodle soup are a lot less. When it came time to visit the restroom it's colder than outside, toilet has the cover off so how in the hell am I going to flush? Water was freezing on the hot side and the sink overfills easily. My son and I were the only ones inside the restaurant and I had to ask several times for more water and napkins (which is like gold). I'm just disappointed with the place lately. Hope they improve.

We got food for delivery from here once via UberEats. The pad thai portion seemed a little small. My green curry was pretty tasty, but definitely not the most authentic Thai food I have had. The panang curry was good, too. The Vietnamese spring rolls were yuuuuuge. The dipping sauce was not that great though.
Overall, if I am hoping to smash some comfort Thai food, I wouldn't pick this place just because the portions aren't smash worthy.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Leigh K.Chicago, IL23350854Jan 9, 2009
One of my current faves. This is my 400th Yelp review and I'm glad it got to be about Manee Thai #2. It was fate that I had not yelped it yet. Generally you think of places with #2 in the name to be not so great, but MT#2 is great. I have only gotten delivery from here, but nearly everything I've gotten has been stellar. The duck dishes they have are good. You must try the thai spring rolls. They are cut into what looks like a maki roll and filled with things I like in sushi anyways: cream cheese and avocado, as well as eggs and bean sprouts. I have ordered this every single time and not gotten sick of it yet. Their fried rice is some of the best I have ever had. I've gotten it with chicken and tofu and both are tasty. The last couple of times we have ordered the pad see eiw and asked for it crispy. They will do it and oh my god, it's great.
The pin noodle duck is my least fave of the three duck dishes I have tried here, but the only two things I have tried that I would not order again: chive dumplings and forever tofu. They did not hit the spot. The only real reason Manee Thai #2 gives me a sad face is that I feel really wasteful ordering delivery from here. Everything comes in earth sad face styrofoam and plastic containers.
The delivery time is always pretty good for me, but I am pretty close to them, so maybe that's why. I think the very most it ever took was an hour and that was during a blizzard.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - Cely R.Chicago, IL5960911497Dec 26, 2014

I can say, without hesitation, that this is the worst delivery that I've ever had in my life.
I'll start with the positives, since I was always taught to try to be constructive. Positive number one: its easy to order delivery online and they came within their time estimate. Positive number two: the soup was just fine.
Now that I'm done with that...the duck. It was horrendous. It was breaded and deep fried. It came with hot & sour sauce from a can. It had no redeeming qualities. I threw it away after three bites.
I also ordered fried bananas with ice cream. They sent me two mandolin-slices of banana. Like 1/8 of a banana. It costs about $5.
But here's where they really swung for the fences: mango with sweet sticky rice. Manee delivered to my house, in a clear container, ROTTED mango. Yup, rotten. Clearly rotten. I called. They admitted that it was rotten. Which makes it super weird that they sent it anyway. Way to show excellent judgment.
I can't even begin to express how much this place is the worst ever. So don't be surprised if you decide to get something to eat there anyway and then it turns out that it's the worst ever.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 22, 2016Updated review
Picked up "cashew chicken" omg the flavor is amazing. There wasn't as much as normally comes in take out - which is a bummer - but the flavor is so good. Lots of chicken, lots of sliced water chestnuts, julienned carrots that I think are steamed and cashews. Unfortunately the restaurant was pretty empty - it's a shame - the sushi looked so good too. It's byob. You should go here or order. I recommend.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Dec 19, 2010Previous reviewIt did take over an hour for delivery but the egg rolls were very good (and free!) and the two dishes we got - red curry and spicy basil chicken were very good. We would definately order from here again.
