Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt noted Tuesday that Brissett has had an "exceptional spring" while showing "great command of the offense," Mike Reiss of ESPN reports.

While Drake Maye, who the team selected third overall in April's draft, has made a favorable impression on New England's coaching staff to date, Van Pelt reiterated that at this time, Brissett remains the starter as next week's mandatory minicamp approaches. Though Maye is destined to rise to the top of the depth chart down the road, Van Pelt has stressed that there's no timetable for that eventuality, noting that "it's a process. It's a marathon. We're going to take our time and do it the right way." In the meantime, Brissett figures to continue to handle the bulk of first-team practice reps followed by Maye, with Bailey Zappe and rookie Joe Milton also in the Patriots' signal-caller mix.

Darnold took every first-team rep during mandatory minicamp, with Alec Lewis of The Athletic reporting that the veteran quarterback's "consistency stood out for three days" while J.J. McCarthy missed more throws.

Lewis says McCarthy's inconsistency is to be expected and adds that "overarching quarterback observations are largely unimportant at this stage" of the offseason. The rookie will have a chance to win the starting job this summer, so it'll be more of a story if he's still lagging far behind Darnold in early-to-mid August after a few weeks of training camp. Lewis also notes that McCarthy had his best day yet Thursday, the final day of minicamp, perhaps giving him something to build on when the Vikings hold their final round of OTAs on June 10-13.

Hurts said the offense he's learning under new coordinator Kellen Moore is "probably 95 percent" new, Brooks Kubena of The Athletic reports.

Hurts will work with his fifth playcaller in as many pro seasons, having gone from Doug Pederson to Nick Sirianni to Shane Steichen to Brian Johnson to Moore. It sounds like this will be the biggest change to the Eagles' offense since 2021, when Sirianni replaced Pederson as the head coach and the team drafted WR DeVonta Smith in the first round. The unit will have two new starters this season, with RB Saquon Barkley signed to replace D'Andre Swift (Bears) and the right guard job up for grabs with Cam Jurgens shifting over to center to replace a retired Jason Kelce. The new offense figures to entail a lot more pre-snap motion, something the Eagles used on a league-low 10.9 percent of plays last season (the Chargers ranked eighth under Moore at 25.9 percent).

The Seahawks are slated to sign Walker to a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Walker gives Seattle a necessary third quarterback on the depth chart in advance of training camp. He'll now have an opportunity to compete for the No. 3 job behind Geno Smith and Sam Howell. Walker is among the league's more experienced depth options, as he suited up for 21 regular-season games from 2020-23.

Richardson took a rest day at practice Thursday due to shoulder soreness, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Coach Shane Steichen said "there's nothing to worry about," per Boyd, and that Richardson would be in line to play were the Colts preparing for a game-scenario this weekend. Steichen added that Richardson had his shoulder checked Thursday morning, and it was confirmed that the quarterback is only dealing with soreness in his surgically repaired right shoulder. Richardson has been participating in 11-on-11 drills and throwing throughout OTAs, and some soreness as he ramps up his practice activities is to be expected. He remains on track to be full strength for the start of training camp late July.

Patriots offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Tuesday that Maye has made a good early impression during voluntary workouts,Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Van Pelt's comments came before Tuesday's session, when Maye took snaps as the No. 2 quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett after having previously been third in the pecking order. Meanwhile, Van Pelt reiterated that Brissett is viewed as the team's top signal-caller at this stage, adding that there's no timetable for when Maye -- the No. 3 overall pick in April's draft -- might ascend to the top of the depth chart.

Mitchell remains the clear No. 2 running back for San Francisco, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.

Lombardi notes that the Niners have a history of trading backup running backs (Matt Breida, Jeff Wilson) when they're happy with their depth at the position. That could be an option this summer, though it's not necessarily likely, with Mitchell in the final year of his contract and a pair of rookies (fourth-round pick Isaac Guerendo, UDFA Cody Schrader) getting work at minicamp. The 49ers also have returning veteran Jordan Mason, but he's mostly played special teams and has never managed to move above Mitchell on the depth chart when Mitchell's been healthy. The long-term plan probably entails Guerendo taking over as the No. 2 RB behind Christian McCaffrey, but Mitchell looks on track to handle the role again this season.

Vikings DT Harrison Phillips said Thursday that he'd "buy stock in Chandler if I could," Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.

It sounds like Chandler made a strong impression at spring practices, perhaps increasing his chances to have a key role off the bench behind new starting running back Aaron Jones. Chandler mostly played special teams throughout the first half of last season, but he eventually became the No. 2 running back and later started the final four weeks, averaging 11.8 carries for 52.4 yards (4.5 YPC) and 2.0 catches for 14.5 yards over the final eight games of the season (with three TDs). That makes him a clear favorite for the No. 2 RB job ahead of Myles Gaskin and DeWayne McBride, though it isn't clear how many snaps and touches the role will entail. Jones' history of injuries -- namely five MCL sprains since entering the NFL -- suggests Chandler has a good chance to make starts this season if the Vikings don't add a more experienced backup before Week 1.

Williams (foot) is participating in on-field workouts Thursday.

Williams missed most of OTAs due to a foot injury, but he's returned to the field for the final day of voluntary activities and appears to be handling on-field drills without limitations. Coach Sean McVay continuously downplayed the severity of Williams' injury, and it looks like the starting running back will indeed be ready to go for the start of mandatory minicamp June 10. The Rams could still opt to cap Williams' workload at practice if there are any concerns about his recovery, but it looks like he could be in position to handle the majority of first-team reps during minicamp, with rookie third-round pick Blake Corum, Boston Scott, Ronnie Rivers and Zach Evans working behind him.

The Chiefs waived Hall on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Kansas City has decided to part ways with Hall after signing him to a reserve/future contract back in January. The 23-year-old running back out of Georgia Tech has yet to make his NFL debut, but he spent time with the Giants', Cardinals', and Browns' practice squads during his lone season in the league.

Knight (shoulder) has been a limited participant in Lions' OTAs, Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press reports.

Knight sustained a torn labrum and missed the Lions' final 12 games in 2023, but he's been cleared for seven-on-seven and light team work as of last week. The 23-year-old running back has also been ramping up his workload in hopes of returning for Detroit's mandatory minicamp. Once Knight is back at full health, he's expected to compete for a depth spot in the Lions' backfield ahead of the 2024 season.

Gibbs has missed spring practices due to a soft tissue injury, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Lions expect Gibbs to be ready for the start of training camp in late July, though coach Dan Campbell noted that the running back's absence this spring is a missed opportunity for growth. Gibbs nonetheless figures to be a huge part of Detroit's offense this season, with the big question being whether he'll take away some of the work that went to backfield mate David Montgomery last year.

White (knee) reverted to the Jaguars' injured reserve list Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The undrafted wide receiver out of East Carolina suffered a torn ACL during Monday's practice, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he's reverted back to Jacksonville's IR. Given the timing of his injury, White will presumably miss the entire 2024 campaign.

The Patriots signed Jackson on Thursday.

The Rutgers product has found a home in New England after he was dropped by the Falcons just two days ago. Jackson went undrafted this past April and will now compete for a depth role in the Patriots' wide receiver room as the offseason progresses.

Sutton said Thursday he will attend Denver's mandatory minicamp after having skipped voluntary OTAs, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.

Sutton trained privately and away from the team during OTAs, but he'll be present for the start of mandatory offseason activities next week. The wideout still appears to desire a new contract, as only $2 million is guaranteed of the roughly $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, which ties him with the Broncos for the next two season. Following the trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Browns earlier this offseason, Sutton is positioned as the clear top target for whoever starts at QB this season, making him an especially key factor for Denver's offense. Behind Sutton on the depth chart are Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) and Troy Franklin.

New England waived Luther on Thursday.

Luther agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Patriots back in January, but the team has now decided to part ways with the 24-year-old wideout. The Gardner-Webb product will look elsewhere as he tries to make his NFL debut after going undrafted in 2023.

Pierce (foot) is not practicing Thursday, the final day of mandatory minicamp, as a precautionary measure, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Pierce hasn't practice this week after his foot was stepped on in a previous practice, but it doesn't appear that there's any worry about his status for training camp. The 2022 second-round pick is competing with rookie second-rounder Adonai Mitchell for No. 3 receiver reps behind Michael Pittman (knee) and Josh Downs, so missing any amount of time could portent a hit to Pierce's stock. In two seasons with the Colts, Pierce has averaged a mediocre 554 yards and two touchdowns, but he could've been held back by questionable quarterback play.

Coach Sean McVay suggested Tuesday that Kupp was never truly healthy last season but is now back at full strength, Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire reports.

McVay compared Kupp's 2023 to QB Matthew Stafford's 2022, with the implication being that both players not only missed games but also played through injuries when they were active. Kupp has told reporters he's 100 percent healthy for the offseason program, unlike in recent years at the same juncture. Last year, he was coming back from season-ending ankle surgery in 2022 and then ended up suffering a summer hamstring injury that cost him the first four games of 2023. Kupp didn't lose any games to injuries thereafter, but he did make an early exit from the team's Week 11 contest and ultimately averaged his least receiving yards per game (61.4) since his rookie year. While a rebound could be coming, Kupp is on the cusp of his 31st birthday and now has to share an offense with 2023 rookie sensation Puka Nacua. It's thus unclear if Kupp will regain his peak form and target volume, though just one of those two things happening would probably be enough to make him a good fantasy pick.

Latu (knee) has suffered no setbacks in his recovery and is expected to be ready for training camp, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Latu suffered a meniscus injury during a preseason game last year and missed the entirety of his rookie campaign. A third-round selection in the 2023 Draft, Latu will likely be competing with veteran Eric Saubert for the 49ers' No. 3 spot on the team's depth chart at tight end behind George Kittle (groin) and the newly acquired Logan Thomas.

Barner (hamstring) practiced with the team Monday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

The tight end sat out of rookie minicamp and missed OTAs at the end of May due to the injury. Now that he's back, the fourth-round pick can try to earn a role on a depth chart that also includes veterans Noah Fant and Pharaoh Brown.

The 49ers are slated to sign Thomas to a contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

A quarterback in college, Thomas has come into his own as a tight end the past four seasons with Washington, hauling in 72 passes in 2020 and 55 last year. Overall, he averaged 9.2 YPC and 6.1 YPT and scored 14 touchdowns on 274 targets in 52 games during that span. With San Francisco, Thomas will provide a veteran presence in its TE room behind starter George Kittle.

The Giants expect Waller to announce his retirement within the next week or so, ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan reports.

The team anticipates an announcement before mandatory minicamp June 11-13, with sources close to Waller suggesting he's leaning toward retirement. He said Friday that a decision is coming soon, and he's been busy off the field working on his music career and finalizing a divorce. Waller missed five or more games each of the past three seasons and thus finished with no more than 665 yards or three TDs in any of them. He had back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons in 2019-20 with the Raiders, peaking at 107-1,196-9 in 2020. If Waller has a late change of heart and decides to play another season, he'll be part of a New York offense that signed three guards in free agency and drafted WR Malik Nabers sixth overall, though the QB situation remains as shaky as ever with Daniel Jones recovering from an ACL tear and Drew Lock taking first-team reps this spring. Daniel Bellinger, Jack Stoll and Chris Manhertz give the Giants capable blockers at tight end, while incoming fourth-round pick Theo Johnson has the speed (4.57 40) and size (6-foot-6, 259) to develop into a receiving threat. Waller will turn 32 in September, five days after the Giants' season opener against Minnesota.

Uzomah (knee) was seen participating at the Eagles' organized training activities Friday, Dave Zangaro of nbcsportsphiladelphia.com reports.

Uzomah's 2023 campaign came to an early end after suffering a knee injury in December and subsequently being placed on the Jets' injured reserve. He was ultimately released by New York before later landing in Philadelphia. His participation at OTAs indicates his health is back up to par. The veteran is expected to compete for the Eagles' No. 2 tight end role behind Dallas Goedert.

Hendershot has been easing back into action following offseason ankle surgery, Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Hendershot underwent ankle surgery following the close of the 2023 season and isn't yet back up to full speed. He's expected to fill a depth role at tight end for Dallas in the coming campaign.

Havrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Havrisik had just joined Cleveland on May 20, but with fellow kickers Dustin Hopkins and Cade York under contract as well, the Arizona product was seemingly expendable. He'll now have to seek out a new opportunity

Ahmed signed a contract with the Commanders on Tuesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Ahmed made one NFL appearance with the Packers in 2022 and was last with Birmingham of the UFL, where he made 10 of his 13 attempted field goals. He is currently the one kicker on the Commanders roster after the team released Brandon McManus on Sunday.

McManus was released by the Commanders on Sunday.

McManus signed a one-year deal to join Washington in March, with his release occurring a week after reports that McManus was the subject of a civil lawsuit, per NFL.com. The Commanders don't currently have another kicker on their roster, which may change as soon as Monday.

Coach Kevin Stefanski relayed earlier this week that Hopkins has recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained last December, Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.com reports.

The injury sidelined Hopkins for the Browns' last two regular-season games, as well as the team's playoff loss to the Texans. Per Petrak, Hopkins wasn't initially present for this week's voluntary OTAs, but once the kicker returns to the mix, he'll be set to lead a kicking corps that also includes Cade York and Lucas Havrisik.

Gano (knee) participated in OTAs on Tuesday, per the Giants' official site.

Gano played in the first eight games of 2023 before landing on the IR in November due to a left knee injury that required season-ending surgery. He was back on the field doing kicking drills during OTAs on Tuesday. Gano finished the 2023 season having gone 11-for-17 on field-goal attempts while making all eight of his extra-point tries.

Havrisik was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Havrisik signed a reserve/future contract with Cleveland in January after the Rams waived him. He was expected to at least have the opportunity to compete with Dustin Hopkins (hamstring) and Cade York for the team's kicker job in 2024, but instead, he'll become a free agent once again.

Johnson (knee) is participating in the Chiefs' organized team activities, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

Johnson has apparently recovered from a torn ACL that caused him to miss the entire 2023 season. The 2022 seventh-round pick will now try to earn a depth role in the secondary for the defending Super Bowl champs.

Thompson, who was reported to be in stable condition Thursday after suffering a seizure and going into cardiac arrest during a special-teams meeting, is awake and responsive Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Thompson's prognosis is positive, per Pelissero, and Adam Teicher of ESPN reported Thursday that doctors are 'optimistic' about his recovery. The Chiefs returned to practice Friday to conclude voluntary OTAs.

Coach Dan Quinn said Thursday the Commanders are providing Davis (shoulder) an opportunity to compete for edge-rusher snaps this offseason, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

Quinn said "we're trying to really push [Davis] specifically on the versatility," and that "you'll see him working some with the defensive line, you'll see him working with [pass rush specialist] Ryan Kerrigan on the side." Davis is entering a contract season after having his fifth-year option declined, and the additions of Bobby Wagner and Frankie Luvu raise questions about the extent of his role. Also contributing as a pass rusher on at least a rotational basis would help boost Davis' fantasy ceiling in IDP formats. He underwent season-ending shoulder surgery back in December, but it appears that Davis has already resumed taking reps at spring practices.

Campbell (undisclosed) was spotted participating in the Titans' minicamp session Wednesday, per the The Tennessean.

Campbell was dealing with an undisclosed injury that forced him to miss the Titans' final 10 games in 2023, but it now seems as if he's past the issue. The 24-year-old linebacker played 67 total snaps (62 on special teams) and recorded three total tackles across four games last year, and he's expected to compete for a similar role this offseason.

The Jets waived Johnson (undisclosed) with a failure to disclose physical condition designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Johnson inked a deal with the Jets after going undrafted earlier in the offseason, but the team has now decided to part ways with the former South Carolina defensive end. The nature and severity of the 25-year-old's injury is currently unknown.

Hawkins (wrist) was spotted participating during San Francisco's minicamp sessions.

The 26-year-old safety out of San Diego State seems to be past the wrist injury that he sustained towards the end of the 49ers' 2023 campaign. Hawkins appeared in one game last season, recording four total tackles and nabbing one interception. He's expected to compete for a depth role in San Francisco's secondary as the offseason continues.
