Sedona Vortexes

A vortex is a place, usually on or near an interesting rock formation, where people have reported feeling inspired by a beneficial source of energy. If you're skeptical, that's okay - looking for vortexes (vortices?) is still a fun excuse for a hike.

Guided vortex tours are available in Sedona, and some of them can take you to a few of the more out-of-the-way places; but if you'd like to try some vortex hunting on your own, the list below will get you started. (Note that a parking pass is required at all of these locations.)

 

Where the Vortexes Are

On the "mini mesa" to the northeast of the main mesa (or in the saddle between it and the main mesa)

Near the Kachina Woman rock formation (especially at the knoll right in front of her, at the end of the Vista Trail)
north side of bell rock Bell Rock
Anywhere on Bell Rock (best climbed from the north)
spaceship rock Spaceship Rock
At the base, facing Courthouse Butte
east side of cathedral rock Cathedral Rock
(1) In the gaps between the spires;
(2) along the Templeton Trail between Cathedral Rock and Red Rock Crossing
