Quaint small but mighty Pilates studio in north Capitol Hill right next to the 49 bus stop. This studio practices traditional mat and reformer Pilates and specializes in small class formats. The front desk staff and all the instructors are very nice and patient, and will walk around the room to correct form. The equipment was clean and in good condition. There is only one single stall bathroom but there usually isn't a long wait for it. It is clean and well-stocked. There are also some storage space to put your bags and shoes, but no lockers, although it is a small enough space that you can still keep your eyes on your belongings during your class.
They currently have free community classes on Thursday evenings in February!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Emily R.Seattle, WA01Oct 9, 2023
I am a ClassPass user and frequent Taylor's classes as much as I can. I have explored countless studios all over Seattle, Taylor has managed to create the most welcoming and encouraging space. The classes are challenging but she insures everyone feels seen and confident. You can count on her making group laugh a few times during the hour. Kindness goes a long way, I think anyone who takes her class will agree it's a safe space along with an intense workout.

One of the only studios in Seattle that practices REAL and CLASSICAL Pilates! It's no wonder clients I've spoken with have been coming here for almost 20 years! It acquired new ownership in 2018 and WOW its incredible what Kim has done with this studio. All new equipment and it's the cleanest studio I've ever been in. There is no shortage of props. Joseph Pilates would be so proud of this place! When you walk in, you're greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. There is also a little shop for you to purchase locally sourced products and everything you could need for Pilates to take home!

I pay for private hourlong sessions, and it's worth every penny. As a beginner, it's nice to have a private instructor watching to make sure I'm working out properly. My instructor is very capable and patient. Sometimes, he'll explain an exercise move, and it'll make no sense to me; so, he'll think of completely different ways of explaining the same concept until I understand.
I also love that I can go into class and say "I'm really sore from soccer", and they'll incorporate exercises that stretch me out and balance out the tightness in my calves.
I've now taken classes with two separate instructors. Each bring his/her own unique twist to pilates, but both did a fantastic job of motivating me to work hard.Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Shannon D.Seattle, WA115Nov 26, 2008
I've been going to Pilates on 10th for about two years, and I always look forward to going to a mat class or a private lesson. Their new studio space is beautiful and very serene, and allows for a lot more and varied classes. All of the instructors are knowledgeable and caring, and they are attentive to the specific needs of everyone's unique body.
I would recommend trying it out if you are recovering from an injury, if you want to vary your work-out routine, and/or if you want to strengthen and stretch your body in a low-impact, peaceful way. I do pilates to supplement my running habit, and to let go of the stress of my workday. And I am completely hooked!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Giri S.Seattle, WA1333Oct 4, 2008
Great new 10th ave pilates studio. All new equipment, soothing environment, but still hip enough to play cool music on satellite radio. Very friendly staff including front desk.
Ask for Gordon if you are interested in private sessions...he is an amazing instructor who knows anatomy and will fine tune your movements.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maud L.Seattle, WA949Oct 29, 2019

Walk tall, grasshopper.
I have nothing but fabulous things to say about Pilates on 10th. I met the owner Amie, and another instructor, Susan, outside of the studio last year. I always admired how graceful they were. I came to the conclusion that this was because of their posture, they way they hold themselves - and (personal opinion), I think it is direct relation to pilates. Which is why I decided to try out the mat classes at Pilates on 10th.
Lets start with location: Awesome. Super easy to find, and just a hop skip and a jump from I-5. Or, if you choose to take the scenic route, a very entertaining drive through Capital Hill (as almost all drives through this neighborhood are). Plus, there is *free* parking around back. Bonus.
Studio: Large, open, clean, inviting. I especially like the touch of (lavender?) that they use in the cleaning solution for the mats.
Instructors: Knowledgable, friendly, and quick to help out with pefecting the positions in order to do the exercises correctly - even in a group class!
I have been taking a mix of the beginner and intermediate mat classes with Susan for a little over a month now. I'm hooked! In general, I work out a lot (all different forms - seriously, name it, I've done it), but I still find it amazing how the day after a class with Sensei Susan my body is completely sore (the good kind). Pilates not only helps you to engage your core (pull those 4 corners together!) and elongate your spine, but it's an awesome leg/back/ab/booty-burning workout. Mega bonus.

Pilates on 10th has been my source for Pilates mat classes for about a month. 10 classes and 4 teachers later, I am ready to write a 5-star review.
One of the best parts of this studio is the versatility in teaching styles it offers. I have 3 different teachers a week for the Intermediate/Advanced class. They know who you are the second time you learn from them, they are all skilled teachers, and each one has a unique style. Sara is fun and hilarious, Echo is always complimentary and encouraging, etc. You won't feel "stuck" with one personality or routine at this studio. I love that. The other bonus? Small class sizes and individualized attention! That's unlike any other mat class I've attended.
Unlimited month mat classes are the best deal for me because I go up to 12 times a month (for the price of 5). Those who frequent less often will want to look at 5 or 10 packages that cut you a deal per class.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Brandon L.Seattle, WA27Apr 26, 2012
Amy runs a great studio. Her policies are fair and she is always very responsive to inquiries and requests.
I have private hour long classes, and have been very happy with them. Like others have mentioned, the instructors can tailor a work-out to your particular needs. I do see gradual improvement in strength, which is my main goal. Quality of the instruction is high. Time passes quite quickly when you get into it. My instructor is always very mindful of how I'm feeling every time and adjusts focus as necessary. When my back is not feeling quite right, she introduces exercises that decreases the discomfort.
The facility is equipped with really nice equipment, and the environment is great.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
