2218: Right folks, that's your lot. All-in-all not a bad night of European football. Barring Fulham's defeat in Poland it was mainly smiles all-round for the British boys. On Saturday it's back to the bread and butter of the league. Join Sam Sheringham early doors on Saturday for our football text commentary before Chris Bevan takes over for the business end. I'll see thee.

Half time
STOKE 3-0 MACCABI TEL-AVIV
Michael Da Silva's FT snapshot:
Stoke sit pretty at the top of Group E and are hot favourites to progress after another assured display. You wouldn't think they are Europa League rookies.

2215: Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp: "It was always going to be a tough night. They're a good side. They went to Barcelona and won [in 2009] They're not a bad outfit. I think six or seven of them were in that team. I thought it was a good performance. We had to hang on a little at the end but I was pleased with us."

2211: There were 24,000 people in attendance at White Hart Lane, just over 12,000 below capacity. It goes to show just how little the Europa League can compete for audience attention alongside the behemoths of the Champions League and Premier League. Still, try telling that to the Birmingham fans who travelled to Brugge.

2208: Stoke striker Kenwyne Jones: "Tonight we knew what we needed to do to was impose ourselves on the game. I don't think Cameron Jerome deserved a sending off and we feel bad for him but we had already done the work in the first half."

Twitter
Chris Threadgold on Twitter: "Great start to life in the Europa League for Stoke! Well Done Pulis for bringing Stoke this far"

Full time
FULL-TIME Tottenham 1-0 Rubin Kazan
Jamie Lillywhite reports: "One magical moment from Roman Pavlyuchenko was enough to give Spurs victory over a dangerous Russian side, who posed far more threat going forward and squandered a series of golden chances. Harry Redknapp fielded an experimental side who perhaps did not click into gear quite as often as he would have liked, but the Tottenham boss will be relieved his team have moved to the top of the table without picking up any more injuries."

2204: As previously mentioned, Stoke top Group E by two points following their win, with Dinamo Kiev second on five points. With seven points now to their name, Tottenham lead Group A by two points from PAOK Salonika, who beat Shamrock Rovers 2-1 tonight. Shamrock are bottom of the group without a point from three games.

Twitter
Phil Beck on Twitter: "Tom Carroll looks like he'll be a top, top player. Very calm and assured on the ball, great game tonight. What a prospect."

2157: FULL-TIME Stoke 3-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv

2156: The game at the Britannia has been essentially over for some time and neither team look keen to press for any further goals. As such, it is a low-key injury-time period and Stoke can walk away a happy bunch, leaders of their group.

2154: FULL-TIME Tottenham 1-0 Rubin Kazan

2154: Those three minutes have passed at White Hart Lane largely event-free as Tottenham hold on.

2151: We're going have four minutes added time at the Britannia and three at White Hart Lane.

2150: EUROPA LEAGUE LATEST
Cracking comeback by Athletic Bilbao, who have pulled back to 2-2 against SV Salzburg after trailing 2-0, while Sporting Lisbon are now 2-0 up against Vorskla Poltava and, in Greece, PAOK Salonika are holding on to their 2-1 lead over Shamrock Rovers.

2147: Kenwyne Jones could and probably should have added to his own, and Stoke's goal tally for the night. He is unleashed on goal superbly by Wilson Palacios' pass but is unable to find an accurate enough finish, his tamish effort saved by Guy Haimov.

2145: Younes Kaboul demonstrates the point I was just making as Sebastien Bassong gives away possession to allow Obefami Martins a shooting opportunity. Just as the Nigerian pulls the trigger though, Kaboul slides in to block. The Russians have had more more chances here than the home side, but Spurs have the all-important goal.

2142: Rubin Kazan still looking a menace on the counter attack at White Hart Lane. Harry's substitutions appear to have had a positive impact, particularly Younes Kaboul's introduction as the defence looks more solid. One concern is that Roman Pavlyuchenko appears to have picked up an ankle knock but with three subs on, the Russian's gonna have to grit his teeth and see it out.

2140: Stoke looking to spark things into life with an attacking substitution that sees Jonathan Walters replace Robert Huth. One thing is for certain, Walters will cover some ground in the 15 minutes he has been given.

2137: Not much happening at the Britannia at present. Stoke know they have the game won while Maccabi Tel-Aviv are merely looking to avoid conceding any further goals. It's not a recipe for edge-of-your-seat football.

2134: Tottenham inches from a second goal as Aaron Lennon skips past a static defender and crosses to the back post where Jermain Defoe is waiting to head goalwards. However, his effort strikes the outside of the post. This is Lennon's last action of the game as he and Sandro are replaced by Younes Kaboul and Luka Modric come on. Jake Livermore is now playing in midfield. The Modric move is the most interesting. Harry Redknapp clearly wants more from his side going forward.

2129: Shamrock Rovers are level for just 15 minutes in Greece as Vieirinha smashes in a spectacular 20-yard strike for PAOK Salonika.

Twitter
MarnieQX on Twitter: "Never mind Spurs, two years ago Rubin Kazan were slaying Barcelona in Russia. Now they are battling in the Europa League."

2127: Good news from Belgium where Birmingham defender Pablo Ibanez only suffered concussion after a nasty clash of heads in the 2-1 victory over Club Brugge. Blues manager Chris Hughton said: "Pablo was a real concern for us so we're very happy it was just concussion and he's okay. We feared the worst, as you always do with incidents like that when it is always a real concern. But fortunately, it usually works out okay and thankfully it did today."

2124: Stoke almost make it 4-0 when superb work from Ryan Shotton results in a pinpoint cross to Kenwyne Jones, but the big striker can only direct his header wide of the far post.

2123: Rubin Kazan have turned to a familiar face in their attempts to get an equaliser at White Hart Lane. Former Newcastle and Birmingham loan striker Obafemi Martins joins the action.

2121: It's 10-a-side at the Britannia, and in slightly comical fashion. Yoav Ziv, the man who has slammed by the Stoke fans for his part in Cameron Jerome's sending off, turns the boos to cheers by receiving marching orders of his own. He is clearly ruffled when Ryan Shotton stands on his foot during a tackle on the touchline and takes his frustration out with an air kick at the linesman, only for his boot to come off and hit the official. The player apologises immediately but the damage is done and it's an early bath for the defender.

2118: RED CARD Maccabi Tel-Avin's Yoav Ziv.

2117: Heurelho Gomes is again called into action as Aleksandr Ryazantsev unleashes a drive from 20 yards which the Brazilian palms away. He's proving a key figure in this match the Spurs number one, which is not the most positive sign for a home side.

2113: Rubin Kazan threatening early in the second half and Heurelho Gomes is called upon to palm away a cross from Gokdeniz Karadeniz which flicks off the head of Sandro. Elsewhere, Shamrock Rovers have equalised at PAOK Salonika. Karl Sheppard with the goal.

2111: A 15 minute break has done little to dilute the Stoke fans loathing for Yoav Ziv, who receives a severe booing every time he touches the ball for his part in Cameron Jerome's dismissal.

2108: And we also have another half game of football underway at the Britannia as the home side kicks off.

2106: Rubin Kazan get the second half underway at White Hart Lane... a noticeably under-capacity White Hart Lane it must be said. Be interesting to see what the attendance is tonight.

2103: While we've got a moment I'll give you a brief run down of how the earlier results leave the respective groups. Birmingham's win means they now top Group H, level on six points with Club Brugge. Fulham are second in Group K on four points, three behind leaders FC Twente and a point ahead of both Wisla Krakow and Odense. Celtic take their points tally to two points, the same as Rennes, and are third in Group I, two points behind Atletico Madrid and five behind Udinese.

Half time
TOTTENHAM 1-0 RUBIN KAZAN
Jamie Lillywhite's HT snapshot: "A moment of brilliance from Roman Pavlyuchenko has given Spurs a half-time advantage, but their experimental side have found things far from easy against a spirited Russian side, who continually threatened on the break and squandered several clear cut opportunities."

Half time
STOKE 3-0 MACCABI TEL-AVIV
Michael Da Silva's HT snapshot:
"Three goals, a red card and an on-field bust-up between two Maccabi players; this one certainly isn't dull. Stoke will play the second half without Cameron Jerome but the home side have been utterly dominant."

Twitter
brookskowski on Twitter: "More than Champion's League success, seeing Birmingham and Stoke winning in Europe is testament to the strength of the EPL "

2054: Stoke should have been leaving the crowd to delighted cheers, but instead the players depart to a chorus of boos, aimed primarily at referee Anastassios Kakos, who sent off Cameron Jerome in the closing moments of the half. The result seems assured, but the red card has soured the atmosphere.

2051: HALF-TIME Stoke 3-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv

2050: HALF-TIME Tottenham 1-0 Rubin Kazan

2050: Roman Pavlyuchenko almost scores another memorable goal, cutting in from the left and forcing a fine diving save from Sergei Ryzhikov. It's the last chance of the half.

Red card
Stoke red card: Having earlier being handed an uneccessary booking for dissent, Cameron Jerome is shown a second yellow for an elbow on Yoav Ziv. Technically it was, but it seems a tad harsh for what was not the most violent of contact. The striker will be furious with himself as he could have filled his boots tonight.

2047: RED CARD Stoke's Cameron Jerome.

Twitter
JonFoxPitt on Twitter: "According to #bcfc live text, Chris Wood scored the winner "from King's cross". That's a hell of a shot from that distance!"

Full time
FULL-TIME Wisla Krakow 1-0 Fulham
Alistair Magowan reports: "Moussa Dembele's sending off had a critical bearing on Fulham's first group-stage defeat. It was harsh and did little to boost the reputation of Wisla's Gervasio Nunez. Heard of him? You have now."

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Stoke goal: Maccabi have their goalkeeper to blame again, as Stoke make it three. Racing some 20 yards out of his goal, Guy Haimov is beaten to the ball by Cameron Jerome, who squares the ball to Ryan Shotton, who slots the ball into the empty net for his first European goal. Stoke are on the rampage.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Tottenham goal: A foul on Danny Rose gives Spurs a free-kick on the edge of the area. After a bit of debate between the Tottenham players over who should strike it, Roman Pavlyuchenko takes the honours and smashes it against the underside of the crossbar and in. Doff your cap son, that was a belter. The referee actually helped him out a bit by moving the ball back a bit and into a more adventageous shooting position.

2038: GOALFLASH Tottenham 1-0 Rubin Kazan (Roman Pavlyuchenko)

2037: GOALFLASH Stoke 3-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Ryan Shotton)

2035: Half a chance for Maccabi Tel-Avivb as Moussa Kanate finds himself with a shooting opportunity from an angle. He dawdles though and a Stoke defender is able to get back to block. In addition to wasting the chance, Kanate gets an ear-full from team-mate Elran Atar for not passing to him.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Stoke goal: Too easy for Stoke. Way too easy. Matthew Etherington swings over a freekick and Cameron Jerome rises to beat the flailing visitors keeper Guy Haimov and head home. If Maccabi Tel-Avib had heard Stoke were handy in the air, they're getting a practical lesson now. The Potters look like scoring with every attack.

2029: GOALFLASH Stoke 2-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Cameron Jerome)

2025: First chance for Spurs and it's Jermain Defoe with it. The diminutive striker finds space in the box to fire a rasping drive yards past the far post. Signs of life in the, admittedly second-string, home attack.

2023: I'm surprised Stoke have found it so easy to take the lead, what with Maccabi playing an extra man. Apologies again for another error. The Israeli side are playing 4-3-3, not 4-4-3, unless their keeper gets very adventurous.

2021: Rubin Kazan threaten again against Tottenham as Heurelho Gomez is forced into a good save to palm away Gokdeniz Karadeniz's close-range header. Meanwhile, Paok Salonika have taken the lead against Irish side Shamrock Rovers through a rasping 30-yard strike from Costin Lazar.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Stoke goal: Kenwyne Jones marks his return to the Stoke team with a goal. Taking advantage of static Maccabi Tel-Aviv marking at a corner, Jones rises high and makes no mistake with his header.

2017: GOALFLASH Stoke 1-0 Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Kenwyne Jones)

2016: Correction. We have a shot at the Lane. Well, more of a cross from Gokdeniz Karadeniz which deflects behind. From the resulting corner, Roman Sharonov heads wide.

2014: No action to speak of as yet at White Hart Lane. Both teams feeling each out but largely in the middle of the field as opposed to either end.

2012: Despite Stoke's rare status as favourites, Maccabi Tel-Aviv have started the stronger at a very noisy Britannia stadium. The visitors, playing a bold 4-3-3 formation, are knocking the ball about with some assurance in the early stages.

Full time
FULL-TIME Club Bruges 1-2 Birmingham
Jonathan Smith reports: "Birmingham are thoroughly enjoying their European adventure as 5,500 travelling fans see them clinch a second successive win on their travels. Chris Wood scored the winner in the 100th minute after a nasty head injury to Blues defender Pablo Ibanez, who was stretchered off."

Full time
FULL-TIME Rennes 1-1 Celtic
Andy Campbell reports: "Celtic recover from that Cha Du-Ri own goal to claim a point in France. Joe Ledley's header levelled the scores on 70 minutes and Charlie Mulgrew almost put the visitors soon after with a curling free-kick. Rennes also had their chances and Yousouff Hadji and Jonathan Pitroipa were both denied by some fine Fraser Forster goalkeeping."

Twitter
sanj06 on Twitter: "Well done to Bham City. Great job, doing the Championship proud, from a West Ham fan."

2006: Meanwhile, back in this country we're underway in both the 2005 BST kick-offs between Tottenham and Rubin Kazan and Stoke and Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

2005: FULL-TIME Wisla Krakow 1-0 Fulham

2003: Courtesy of that floodlight failure at half time we're still playing in Poland and Fulham are pressing for an equaliser. However, the home side are holding on, and...

2002: FULL-TIME Club Brugge 1-2 Birmingham

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Birmingham goal: Just as I was saying it looks like a draw in Belgium, up pops Chris Wood to fire home a low strike into the roof of the net from Marlon King's cross. What a superb end to what has been a rollercoaster night for the Blues. They now look nailed on to become the first English team to win away at Club Brugge. To confirm that...

Red card
Wisla Krakow red card: A second red card in Poland, this time fully deserved as Osman Chavez clatters into Andy Johnson and gets a second yellow. Shocking attempted tackle.

1958: GOALFLASH Club Brugge 1-2 Birmingham (Chris Wood)

1957: RED CARD Wisla Krakow's Osman Chavez.

1956: Fulham looking to press for an equaliser, but their man less is a real handicap for them and Wisla are repelling what the London side can throw at them. It appears to be heading for a draw in Bruges.

TOTTENHAM v RUBIN KAZAN TEAM NEWS
Jamie Lillywhite reports:
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has made no secret of the fact that the Europa League is not his top priority this term and his policy of including inexperienced youngsters in the competition continues. Despite a surprising formation, Redknapp will hope he has enough firepower on show to defeat the Russian side, who currently lead Group A on goal difference having, like Spurs, won one and drawn one. Also like the Londoners they are currently sixth in their home league.

TOTTENHAM v RUBIN KAZAN (GROUP A, 2005 BST)
Jamie Lillywhite reports: "The Spurs starting XI contains only one recognised centre-half, Sebastien Bassong, with 21-year-old midfielder Jake Livermore expected to partner him at the heart of the defence. Aaron Lennon returns from groin trouble in a midfield featuring 19-year-old Tom Carroll and fit-again Brazilian Sandro, with Giovani dos Santos on the other flank. Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko lead the attack. Playmaker Luka Modric and central defender Younes Kaboul are among the substitutes."

1952: EUROPA LEAGUE LATEST
Plenty of goals and plenty of red cards. Nine-man Steaua Bucharest are being punished for their indiscipline, being 5-0 down away at Maccabi Haifa. Elsewhere, 10-man Metalist Kharkov and Twente are both enjoying 4-1 wins at Malmo and Odense respectively, while Anderlecht are 2-0 up at Sturm Graz, who have had a man sent off. Lewis Holtby and Klaas Jan Huntelaar are both on target for Schalke in their 3-0 drubbing of AEK Larnaca.

1950: The game is back underway in Belgium after Pablo Ibanez is lifted from the pitch on a stretcher. There will be 10 minutes of added time as a result of that injury. This means that with the floodlight failure in Poland, this game should finish around the same time as Wisla Krakow v Fulham, which is still 1-0 to the home side.

1948: FULL-TIME Rennes 1-1 Celtic

1945: Rennes almost nick it at the death in France when the Celtic defence hesitate and Kader Mangane nips in, but his shot is saved by Fraser Forster. With that...

1945: It really does look bad for Pablo Ibanez. Guirane N'daw is in tears following the injury to his team-mate. They medics have still yet to lift the defender from the pitch. Awful to see this on what should be a superb night for Birmingham and Ibanez.

1942: Nasty looking clash of heads in Bruges involving Birmingham's Pablo Ibanez and home player Joseph Akpala. The stretcher is on and it doesn't look good for the City man. Akpala is on his feet and moving gingerly, but the Spaniard is receiving extensive treatment.

1939: Pretty even in Bruges with neither side showing enough penetration to take control of the match. Chris Burke remains Birmingham's main outlet, but his crosses have found largely keeper's gloves this half. Still time yet though for either side to snatch an all-important winner.

1936: Celtic keeper Fraser Forster is called upon and he is not found wanting when Youssouf Hadji finds time to unleash a spectacular over-head kick in the box. The young keeper superbly palms the goalbound effort over the bar. Celtic need to re-focus again here if they are to secure at least a point here.

1934: Chris Hughton makes a double substitution for Birmingham with Chris Wood and Marlon King coming off the bench. Club Brugge starting to dominate but, so far, the Birmingham defence is holding firm.

STOKE v MACCABI TEL-AVIV
Michael Da Silva reports:
"Stoke make seven changes from the side that beat Fulham 2-0 on Saturday, with Kenwyne Jones making his first start in a month. Thomas Sorensen, Robert Huth, Ryan Shotton, Dean Whitehead, Salif Diao and Cameron Jerome also make the starting line-up, with Peter Crouch and Rory Delap named among the substitutes. Maccabi Tel-Aviv leave their main goal threat, Roberto Colautti, on the bench as they search for their first win in four."

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Wisla Krakow goal: The resistance of 10-man Fulham is broken. David Briton picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and is allowed to move within shooting distance before letting rip from 20 yards and beating Mark Schwarzer. Tough ask for Martin Jol's boys now.

1929: GOALFLASH Wisla Krakow 1-0 Fulham (David Biton)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Celtic goal: It's a superb equaliser for Celtic and they are right back in this contest. Charlie Mulgrew's free-kick from the right is swung over and Joe Ledley rises to steer the ball into the net with the back of his head. Just what Neil Lennon's side needed.

1925: GOALFLASH Rennes 1-1 Celtic (Joe Ledley)

1923: Celtic threaten and it's their South Korean contingent who combine. Cha Du-Ri sees a snap-shot saved, with Ki Sung-Yong following up, but his effort is fired wide. Meanwhile, Wisla Krakow threaten in Poland with Cezary Wilk drawing a good finger-tip save from Mark Schwarzer from 30 yards.

1920: Penalty shout for Fulham. A corner from the left is swung over and in the box Junior Diaz bundles Brede Hangeland to the ground. I've seen them given.

STOKE v MACCABI TEL-AVIV
Michael Da Silva reports:
"How will Maccabi Tel-Aviv handle a cold October night in Stoke? We're about to find out as the Group E leaders face the Israeli side at the Britannia Stadium. Tony Pulis knows a win - which would put Stoke on seven points - would be a giant step to the knockout phase."

1918: Birmingham with a superb chance to take the lead in Belgium. Chris Burke continues to forge chances for his team, this time crossing for Nikola Zigic who is stood on the penalty spot, but the big forward heads limply wide.

1915: Finally, we're underway in Poland. Take a bow generator fixing person, whoever you are.

Twitter
George_Rinaldi on Twitter: "Woke up at the moment Dembele was off. Thought it must have been bad. After seeing the incident, I thought I was still dreaming."

1913: Great chance for Rennes to, you would assume, put the game beyond Celtic. Kader Mangane is through on goal at an angle with just Fraser Forster to beat but he blazes his effort wide. Meanwhile, in Poland, the Wisla players are out on the pitch.... closely followed by the Fulham lads. Kick-off imminent.

Tottenham v Rubin Kazan line-ups
Tottenham:
Gomes, Walker, Livermore, Bassong, Rose, Lennon, Sandro, Carroll, Giovani, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe. Subs: Cudicini, Kaboul, Modric, Falque, Townsend, Assou-Ekotto, Kane.
Rubin Kazan: Ryzhikov, Bocchetti, Sharonov, Cesar Navas, Kuzmin, Natkho, Noboa, Karadeniz, Ryazantsev, Kasaev, Haedo Valdez. Subs: Arlauskis, Martins, Kaleshin, Alexei Eremenko, Kverkvelia, Orazsakhedov.
Referee: Manuel de Sousa (Portugal)

1910: Still no sign of play in Poland. At the moment, little action to speak of in France and Belgium as well. Celtic appear intent on keeping it tight for the time-being, while the break appears to have done Brugge some good after taking a battering at the end of the first half.

Stoke v Maccabi Tel-Aviv line-ups
Stoke:
Sorensen, Huth, Shawcross, Upson, Wilson, Shotton, Whitehead, Diao, Etherington, Jones, Jerome. Subs: Nash, Whelan, Walters, Delap, Crouch, Wilkinson, Palacios.
Maccabi Tel-Aviv: Haimov, Pavicevic, Saban, Yeyni, Ziv, Puncec, Dahan, Israelevich, Medunjanin, Konate, Atar. Subs: Levy, Dabbur, Micha, Kahat, Lugasi, Colautti, Vered.
Referee: Anastassios Kakos (Greece)

1905: Lot's a people milling around - none of them players - in Poland though. That may be largely because we've lost lighting at one end of the stadium. Looks like we're in for a delay.

1903: Meanwhile, in Belgium, Birmingham kick off the second half.

1900: And that whole other half is underway right now in France, with Celtic kicking us off.

Twitter
Horrendoussss on Twitter: "Lennon's half time talk - 'What Cha Du-Ri-eally need is a goal to get back in this!'"

1859: Who'd be a football fan eh? Or, to be more specific at this juncture, who'd be a Fulham or Celtic fan? You head off into Europe to follow your team only to see them either shoot themselves in the foot or have a referee do it for them. All I can say is keep the faith guys, the next 45 minutes is a whole new half.

Half time
Rennes 1-0 Celtic
Andy Campbell's HT snapshot: "Celtic looked to be in a strong position until a bizarre own goal gave Rennes the lead, which they have kept until the break. Rennes look decent enough but didn't expect to get that opener."

1853: A fascinating set of first-halfs draw to a close and there are plenty of talking points. Celtic appear determined to commit Europa League suicide but still have a chance to make amends, Fulham have been dealt a harsh, harsh blow with the dismissal of Moussa Dembele and are up against it in Krakow. Birmingham, on the other hand, may not be winning but have shown plenty of endeavour in an impressive first 45 minutes in Brugge.

Half time
Wisla Krakow 0-0 Fulham
Alistair Magowan's HT snapshot:
"Strangely, Wisla have looked less threatening since Moussa Dembele's sending off, but Fulham will have a tougher job keeping Ivica Iliev under wraps in the second period. Will Martin Jol make changes?"

Half time
Club Brugge 1-1 Birmingham
Jonathan Smith's HT snapshot: "After a horrible start, Birmingham are deservedly level at Club Brugge. The Belgians are struggling to cope with the Blues' width and pace spearheaded by the giant Nikola Zigic, who can unsettle the most composed defender when he's in the mood."

1846: HALF-TIME Club Brugge 1-1 Birmingham

1845: HALF-TIME Wisla Krakow 0-0 Fulham

1845: HALF-TIME Rennes 1-0 Celtic

1843: Couple of chances for Birmingham. Adam Rooney races on to a long ball but blasts it high and wide before Chris Burke cuts inside but his effort is saved by Colin Coosemans. The Blues are on top right now but they could do with a goal before half-time to make the most of this period of dominance. It's all about scoring when you're on top.

Handbags
1840: It's getting a bit heated in Poland. Orlando Sa reacts to a tackle on him by pushing out at Cezary Wilk. The referee is there to calm matters down but Fulham need to be careful as the official has already shown his willingness to act. The last thing they need is another man in the stands.

1837: Birmingham close to a second and it's almost David Murphy again. Terrible tackle from former Tottenham midfielder Jonathan Blondel earns the Blues a free-kick 25 yards out but the left-back's curling effort is well saved by Colin Coosemans. It's all Birmingham now.

Twitter
omaarhabib on Twitter: "Disaster after disaster for the Celtic defence."

Red card
Fulham red card: Ridiculous sending off for Fulham. Moussa Dembele is brushed by Wisla's Gervasio Nunez, but the Belgian pushes the Argentine on the shoulder and unbelievably receives a red card as the Wisla midfielder falls to the floor clutching his face. Shameful.

1835: RED CARD Fulham's Moussa Dembele

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Rennes goal: It's an absolute gift from Celtic. They've hardly been in this game so far so the last thing they needed was an error of this magnitude. A complete communication breakdown between goalkeeper Fraser Forster and defender Cha Du-Ri sees the latter place an attempted back-pass straight past the former and into the corner of the net. A genuine piece of school-boy defending.

1830: GOALFLASH Rennes 1-0 Celtic (Cha Du-Ri own goal)

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Birmingham goal: The Blues are back in it. Chris Burke's cross from the right didn't appear the most dangerous but Murphy made it so by arriving from nowhere with a superb back-post shot to bring his side level.

1828: GOALFLASH Club Brugge 1-1 Birmingham (David Murphy)

1827: Fulham with a decent opportunity in Poland. Dickson Etuhu is released by Moussa Dembele but his shot is too close to the keeper from the right-hand side.

1826: A great chance for Anthony Stokes for Celtic. He skips inside a defender and has just the keeper to beat from 15 yards but his shot is palmed over the bar by Benoit Costil. They've been under it for near half-an-hour so it's good to see them show some attacking intent. A goal would have been even better though.

1825: EUROPA LEAGUE LATEST
Former West Ham men dictating the play tonight. Victor Obinna has laid in Dmitri Sychev as the Russian striker tucks home to give Lokomotiv Moscow the lead against AEK Athens. Israeli Yaniv Katan, who had a spell at Upton Park in 2006, provides the assist for Wiam Amasha as Maccabi Haifa go ahead against Steaua Bucharest. Elsewhere, Twente have gone 1-0 up at Odense and Maribor are in front against Braga.

1824: Another chance for Wisla from that man Ivica Iliev again. After good build-up play, the Serb lets rip from 20 yards and Mark Schwarzer does well to save to his left. Decent effort.

1822: Apologies for the little slip earlier when I accidentally gave Keith Fahey a Hollywood career instead of a solid Championship one with the Blues. I must have Lost on the brain. Or maybe Lawnmower Man.

1818: Plenty of noise in the Stadion Miejski in Krakow as the Polish side continue to look the part against Fulham. The locals doing their best to unsettle Martin Jol's boys. It's working pretty well so far. The game remains goalless though.

1815: Birmingham have struggled to settle following Brugge early goal in Belgium, but they have just had their first chance when a corner is rolled back to Keith Fahey, who blasts it over the bar. It's not close, but it gives the Blues something to build on.

Someone has struck the woodwork
1812: Another chance for Krakow and it is the man who was booked, Ivica Iliev, with a drive from 22 yards which strikes the bar courtesy of a deflection. Fulham living dangerously.

1811: Early chance for Fulham, who are quick to test the Wisla keeper, but Damien Duff's effort from the edge of the box is batted away. And a correction for that early booking for the Polish side, it was Ivica Iliev whose name was taken not Andraz Kirm. Apologies.

1809: Just a little heads up to let those of you keen to follow the Celtic match in more detail you can do so courtesy of a live text commentary from BBC Scotland's Andy Campbell.

Goooooooaaaaaaaaal
Brugge goal: It's a disastrous start for Chris Hughton's men as Nabil Dirar crosses for Joseph Akpala to flick the ball into the corner of the net from eight yards out. Still very early days but the Blues will need to recover their composure.

1804: GOALFLASH Club Brugge 1-0 Birmingham (Joseph Akpala)

Yellow card
1803 BST: Early booking for Krakow's Andraz Kirm for a high challenge on Brede Hangeland. Tasty start. And a painful one for the big Fulham centre-back.

1801: And Birmingham completes the trio.

1800: We are underway in Poland... and in France.

Twitter
Ned Thomas on Twitter: "Last two nights have been thoroughly entertaining, hope for more of the same tonight! I fancy four of the five to win"

1758: We've got teams taking to the field folks. We're moments away from kick-off in Belgium, Poland and France.

There is a veritable feast of Europa League action being served up tonight, with Lokomotiv Moscow taking on AEK Athens in the 1700 BST kick off. It is 0-0 in that game at half time. 1800 BST starts include a tantalising clash between Udinese and Atletico Madrid but the bulk of the action takes places at 2005 BST with Dynamo Kiev entertaining Besiktas of Turkey, Lazio travelling to Switzerland to face Zurich and French Ligue 1 leaders PSG away at Slovan Bratislava.

RENNES v CELTIC (GROUP I, 1800 BST)
Andy Campbell reports: "At the Route de Lorient, Celtic are preparing for their third Group I match against Rennes. Both sides have just a single point in the section and will trying to get their first win this evening. Celtic boss Neil Lennon has said himself that a win is a must if his troops are to realistically qualify from the group. If they are to get that all-important win though they will have to reverse a dire away record in Europe which has seen them fail to pick up a victory on the road since August 2009."

CLUB BRUGGE v BIRMINGHAM (GROUP H, 1800 BST)
Jonathan Smith reports: "Birmingham go into the game against Group H leaders Club Brugge on the back of a morale-boosting victory over big-spending Leicester in the Championship and after a win away to Maribor last time out in the Europa League. But no English club has ever won at the Jan Breydelstadion in this competition."

WISLA KRAKOW v FULHAM (GROUP K, 1800 BST)
Alistair Magowan reports: "Fulham's trip to Poland will be their 20th game of the season and a victory over a Wisla Krakov side, who have yet to register a point in Group K, will put Martin Jol's team in the driving seat with half the group's games played. Bobby Zamora and Clint Dempsey have both been rested so goalscoring duties fall on the shoulders of Andy Johnson, who visits the land of his grandfather."

Twitter
Billy MacEwan on Twitter: "Celtic need a win tonight, big ask though."

RENNES v CELTIC TEAM NEWS
Andy Campbell reports:
Celtic manager Neil Lennon makes a couple of changes from Saturday's dramatic 3-3 draw with Kilmarnock with Glenn Loovens and Victor Wanyama coming in for defender Daniel Majstorovic and striker Gary Hooper.

CLUB BRUGGE v BIRMINGHAM TEAM NEWS
Jonathan Smith reports:
Serbian striker Nikola Zigic makes his first Europa League start for Birmingham alongside Adam Rooney up front. Goalkeeper Colin Doyle is left out after his calamitous error against Maribor last month and is replaced by Boaz Myhill.

WISLA KRAKOW v FULHAM TEAM NEWS
Alistair Magowan reports:
"Fulham make six changes to the side which lost to Stoke on Saturday. Clint Dempsey and Bobby Zamora are rested, while Danny Murphy has a knee injury. So Marcel Gercov makes his debut alongside Dickson Etuhu in midfield, and Orlando Sa partners Andy Johnson in attack."

1741: Right, you've got the basic gist of the evening's activities, now we just need you to get involved with all your thought-provoking opinions and great banter. But what's that you say? How do I do this? Well, here's how: you can Tweet the commentary via the hashtag #BBCFootball or text in via 81111 (UK).

1741: Once those three games are all wrapped up, we turn our attentions to these shores where the top two sides in Group A, Tottenham and Rubin Kazan, face off at White Hart Lane and Stoke host Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel-Aviv, both of which are 2005 BST starts. It's an evening that promises much, like the last episode of Lost. Let's hope it's not a complete and utter let down. Like the last episode of Lost.

1738: Birmingham's game in Belgium is one of three 1800 BST kickoffs featuring British teams. The other two being Celtic travelling to Rennes looking for only a second European away win in 32 games and a first win on French soil since 1966, and Fulham's trip to play Polish side Wisla Krakow, who in contrast to Bruges have never beaten an English side.

1734: Of the six British sides in action tonight, Birmingham face arguably the toughest task as they travel to Club Brugge, who are unbeaten in 14 games in all competitions and currently top Group H with two wins out of two. Oh, and they've never lost at home to an English side. However, Blues boss Chris Hughton played in a Tottenham side that knocked the Belgians out of the Uefa Cup in the 1984/85 season though. If you believe in omens... you might want to find a better one.

1730: Now then. Well, it's been a pretty fine week so far for our boys in Europe with four wins out of four in the Champions League. Sure, one or two teams had to pull it out of the bag at the death (Manchester City and Arsenal, we're looking at you), but you can't sniff at a 100% record. However, if we're going to extend that tonight it's going to take a seriously monumental effort from our lads in the Europa League.
