Exhibition

An exhibition of the Pakhtoon Schools Live Project was held on 28th October 2010, following the highly informative lecture by professor Ihsan Ali from the Abdul Wali Khan University of Mardan in Pakistan. Th exhibition presented the research, design development and design ideas.

Pakhtoon Schools Reception and Exhibition

Vice Chancellor Ihsan Ali from the University of Mardan is visiting the University of Sheffield on 28th and 29th October to deliver a lecture and to take part in a symposium on the development of a school prototype for the Pakhtoon region. Details of the lecture and reception are below.

Project Review

The live project team led a design review of work to date, presenting background research findings and preliminary sketch design schemes for a proposed school prototype. The team have two weeks to develop proposals before the exhibition and symposium, focusing on how to develop and realise the school design.

Live Project Starts…

The Pukhtoon Schools Project is now part of the Live Projects programme at the Sheffield School of Architecture. A group of 10 post-graduate architecture students will be working over the next 6 weeks to develop strategic design proposals for a prototype school in the Pukhtoon Region. Their work will encompass a range of research methods working in close collaboration with the client team.

Pukhtoon Region Flood

Although too early to determine the impact of the flooding on schools in the Pukhtoonkwa region of Pakistan, it is clear that there is now an even greater need for humanitarian help and an imperative to develop safe places for young people to learn.
