Heavy Rigid licence information

Students looking to attain their Heavy Rigid open or Heavy Rigid restricted (B) licence will learn with a qualified instructor in either a Hino FD for their HR(B) licence, or a Isuzu FZV tip vehicle for the open HR category. Whichever licence option you choose, you will be well equipped to safely and confidently drive the streets of Brisbane and Australia.

KMS Driving School utilises the unique Hino FD truck with a liftable lazy axle. On your HR(B) licence test day we keep the lazy axle lowered which achieves a HR with a synchromesh restriction (B). The Hino has a standard six speed gear box, making earning a Heavy Rigid restricted (B) licence easier with KMS than with other Brisbane truck schools that use eight and ten speed gear boxes.

Medium Rigid licence training

For MR truck lessons we utilize the same Hino FD truck as the HR(B) license. This training vehicle has a liftable lazy axle and a six speed Synchromesh gear box. When you choose to get your MR truck licence with KMS in Brisbane, we will keep the axel lifted for you on the day of your test, with having only two axels touching the ground a MR license in achieved.

With the truck being a little over eight metres long and 2.5 metres wide, you are assured of learning in a vehicle much like other common MR/HR (B) trucks thus giving you a true feel for the vehicle.
