Events
Join Tualatin Soil and Water Conservation District and Alayne Blickle from Horses for Clean Water for this free in-person workshop on sustainable equine management! Whether you’re new to horse keeping or have years of experience, this course will help you learn ways to simplify your horse keeping checklist while managing your property in a way that benefits the entire ecosystem. That means less time cursing your wheelbarrow and more time doing the things you enjoy with your horse, all year long.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
“No one is providing any resources like this here in the midwest. Since I found Horses For Clean Water, I have created an all weather dry lot; created water berms and a french drain to capture and direct water run off; implemented a track system to increase the activity level on a small horse property; use slow feeders—hay bags and porta grazers; [and] I am a natural hoof care practitioner, so I aide my farrier in trimming and managing my horses hooves…. Thank you again for taking your resources online, great job!”

"I was in your workshop this weekend and just wanted to let you know how incredibly useful it was! I am new to the world of conservation districts and we work so much with horse owners that face challenging obstacles in living in harmony with their horses and the land. I got so much from your workshop that I can apply on the ground here in Columbia County. Thank you for taking the time on such a glorious day to come sit inside and share your knowledge with us."
- Kendra, Yakima, WA

“I enjoyed the webinar last night. I’m going to try a mini hedgerow using some old water tanks that I have. I’m also going to contact my conservation district to see if they have any owl box programs. Again, thanks for the great info.”

"I wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed your Spring into Pastures & Paddocks workshop on Saturday. We have been working on our 40 acres in North Central Washington since 1995, and picked up some really good NEW pointers to try out. We both appreciated how the materials were presented and your style. I was particularly interested in the Track Paddock concept."
- Gretchen, Leavenworth, WA

"We have been building out our farm and using much of what we learned from the HCW articles and your farm tour. We have focused the last 9 months on pasture drainage, grading, soil testing/amending, and seeding. We have an area we’ve designated for all weather paddocks and have it ready to go!“
- Cathy
“I'm the 4-H agent for Grays Harbor County. I think we talked a bit at the Safergrass workshop. I wish that I could get our 4-H members out to great clinics like yours, but for now I'll just have to carry the message!"
