About Fort Ticonderoga
Welcoming visitors since 1909, Fort Ticonderoga is a major cultural destination, museum, historic site, and center for learning. As a multi-day destination and the premier place to learn more about North America’s military heritage, Fort Ticonderoga engages more than 75,000 visitors each year with an economic impact of more than $12 million annually. Presenting vibrant programs, historic interpretation, boat cruises, tours, demonstrations, and exhibits, Fort Ticonderoga and is open for daily visitation May through October and special programs during Winter Quarters, November through April. Fort Ticonderoga is owned by The Fort Ticonderoga Association, a 501c3 non-profit educational organization, and is supported in part through generous donations and with some general operating support made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts.

As part of our Memorial Day commemoration this weekend May 25-26, Fort Ticonderoga will offer two special memorial services on Sunday:
At 11am, join the procession of a Continental Army soldier’s funeral and see him laid to his final resting place. Pay respect to the numerous soldiers who did not receive a proper burial at Ticonderoga in 1777 and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice they made to secure our liberty today.
At 12pm atop Mount Defiance (at 72 Defiance Street), join Fort Ticonderoga and the Ticonderoga American Legion as we renew our American flag on Mount Defiance, as a salute to all those who have fallen in the service of this nation. From this breathtaking vista, remember their sacrifice with a 21-gun salute.

Fort Ticonderoga has recently announced several important preservation projects underway. These projects, totaling more than $2 million, are in the spotlight this May, which is dedicated to #NationalPreservationMonth and celebrates the nation`s heritage through historic places.
Today, we are highlighting the Thompson-Pell Research Center. The Thompson-Pell Research Center serves as the museum`s research facility and collections storage. Thanks to a recent grant award, Fort Ticonderoga will be able to install an upgraded HVAC system. The newly installed system will ensure the appropriate climate control needed to preserve the hundreds of thousands of objects in our collections held within the building including textiles, documents, weapons, art, archaeological items, and more! This project is made possible in part by a grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conversation Smart Growth Grant.

This weekend May 25-26, Fort Ticonderoga will pay tribute to the men and women who lost their lives during the American Revolution.
Join a hive of activity as citizens-turned-soldiers reinforced extensive lines of defenses across the Ticonderoga peninsula and beyond to prepare for a renewed British invasion.
Throughout the weekend, witness the labor of liberty as Fort Ticonderoga staff portraying Continental Army soldiers bring to life this defining story through military drill, weapon demonstrations, historic trades, hauling timber with oxen and raising huts for shelter. Enjoy narrated boat cruises on Lake Champlain, guided tours within the fort and museum exhibition spaces, ongoing historic trade programs, thrilling weapons demonstrations, fife and drum performances, and more!

Today, Fort Ticonderoga celebrates #NationalMaritimeDay with a new 2024 historic boat building program and narrated boat tours aboard the 60 ft Carillon Boat on Lake Champlain. The maritime trades program is available daily Tuesday-Sunday throughout the season. The Carillon Boat tours will begin on May 24th and run through October.
Fort Ticonderoga’s maritime program is a learning laboratory for students of all ages and visitors to this year will be able to participate in daily programs including historic boat building to better understand the great fleets of the Seven Years’ War and the Revolutionary War on Lake Champlain.
Students and scouts can experience rowing on Lake Champlain, aboard a bateau, the flat-bottomed wooden boat used by soldiers in the 18th century. This unparalleled experience teaches teamwork and discipline, along with maritime history.
Ticonderoga’s strategic location connected it to the world throughout its history through a network of historic rivers and lakes. Visitors can explore the waters of Lake Champlain on board the classic 1920s-styled tour boat, Carillon, and discover the naval stories that surround Ticonderoga, and the archaeological discoveries beneath the lake.

Discover what lies beneath Lake Champlain! The Carillon returns to Fort Ticonderoga with boat tours beginning on May 24th. The 75-minute narrated boat cruises cover some of the most archaeologically rich waters in North America while surrounded by breathtaking lake views, commanding mountains, and the majestic fort.
From shipwrecks to a massive bridge that the Americans built in 1777, Lake Champlain holds defining stories of America’s past. Fort Ticonderoga’s layers of history carry right from the land onto the water. The Carillon boat tours help ignite visitors’ imaginations as they explore this internationally strategic stretch of water and has quickly become one of the most popular attractions as part of the Fort Ticonderoga experience.
Boat tours will run Tuesday-Sunday May 24- October 18. The 60-foot boat is available for daily tours, field trips, History Happy Hour cruises, and private charters. A selection of regional beer and cider, wine, soft drinks, water, and snacks are available for purchase on board. Tickets for the boat cruise are available online at www.fortticonderoga.org or can be purchased on-site, as available. Tours are available rain or shine.
