Foot in the Door

This weekend marked our first venture to the Jared Dines recording studio in Roy, Washington. We had a ton of fun getting to know the studio, as well as the awesome staff there. We also have been lucky enough to get Caught Alive Media there to help us get good photos and videos of the recording process, and we hope to share their work with you as we get it.

We’re also happy to announce we will be playing Colossal Fest on January 4th, right before our friends in one of our favorite local bands, Truth Under Attack, at El Corazon. We’ll be on at 10:30, but bands will be on as early as 4:30, so come join us for an awesome Saturday full of local music in downtown Seattle.

We hope everybody has a great holiday season! We’ll be keeping you updated while we keep working through the end of 2013. We’ve got a lot of plans for the upcoming year, and we hope you’ll be just as excited as we announce them.

(And here’s another of our early demos for our new release!)

Demo’s, Records, and the South

We did it! Well, part of it. After a month or so of hammering them out, we now have a selection of 7 demos, ready to become the scratch tracks and basis for our upcoming recordings, which we start recording THIS WEEKEND. We’re super excited, and will be keeping you up to date both on here, facebook, and on twitter – but fringeshift.com will have exclusive downloads our other pages won’t, so come back soon!
Until then, here’s a rough demo from our new song, Eventually! None of the recorded takes on this will be used in the final recordings – it’s purely for mental organization of what we’re going to do in the studio, as well as to provide a scratch track for recording over – but we thought you guys might like to hear what we’ve been up to. Enjoy!

This is awkward… We haven’t seen each other for… well, it’s been a while now, I guess. How’re things going? That’s good, I’m glad. So, um, thanks stopping by while you’re in the area – it was good to see you.
Oh yeah, and a CD release. Boom.

Raindrops on Roses, and Jamming in Basements…

Hello!

We’ve been keeping ourselves very busy and just wanted to share a little of what we’re up to. We just finished recording vocals for two more songs set for our EP – Around, and the as of yet unnamed “piano song.” We hope to have that ready for everybody as soon as possible!

Last Friday me and Gio got the cool experience of playing in the basement of Mr. John Thornburg, our friend fellow musician in the band Jar. Both Jar and Gio and I (with the help of Russ Thornburg filling in on bass while Matt was stuck at work) put on a small set, which we broadcasted live on Jar’s livestream account. We hope to make this sort of thing more common, more planned, and more exciting in the months to come, so watch out real soon for our next broadcasting date! It’s free to watch in, and you get to chat with us in between songs. You can see some excerpts from last Friday here.

As we begin to go through KTUB’s  artist development program, we will be writing a lot more music in the coming months, as well as playing significantly fewer shows (but only temporarily!). We hope this will allow us to focus some more on writing and recording the coolest stuff we can possibly play for you guys, and we’ll make sure to share with you along the way. Make sure to come check out our shows in late November and December, as the first several months of 2013 we will be MIA.

Hope to see you soon, and as always, let us know what you think in the comments!

Lovelovelove,

…To a Deluxe Apartment in the Sky

Hello everybody! It’s been a crazy month, with a ton of exciting things happening. First off, we’re almost done recording our 8 track EP, which we will be releasing as soon as possible at our shows, and online, right here on our website. More info as it comes!

Secondly, we’re honored to be named one of the winning bands for KTUB’s One Song, One Chance competition! We will be working closely with Matt Bacnis and all the wonderful staff of KTUB closely over the next several months, as well as the other bands who were named winners at the finals last weekend.

We’ve been writing some new stuff as well, some of which will be appearing on our EP, and some you’ll have to come to our shows to hear ; ] We made a quick, rough recording of us playing one of the songs that will be on the EP, called Around. Hope you guys like it – might post lyrics for it later!

Have a Happy Halloween!

Hey guys it’s Matt here! Just wanted to let ya’ll know what was happening in the Fringe Shift world. Last weekend we played at The Redmond Firehouse! It was a really good show. We played with People Bomb, Suggestion Box, and Inthepouch. Everyone played an awesome show. We’re currently gearing up to lay down some bass tracks for the upcoming EP! The drums are being mixed as we speak and Guitar and Vocals will be recorded very soon. Our next show has been scheduled for September 29th with JAR, so we all know it’s going to be mind blowing. Check back here for more updates! Peace!

Rambling On

We’ve been up to a ton of stuff recently!

Writing new material, playing lots of shows, and last weekend we started recording with the help of our friend and talented recording engineer, Jeff Brown.

We’ll be putting out a new 8 track EP with these recordings, and we’re really looking forward to them. Not only will this be our first time recording some of our newest songs, we’ll also finally be getting recordings of some of our older songs with Matt and Gio.

And so far, it sounds killer, so we’re expecting these to turn out pretty awesome. We’ll be releasing lots of little previews of songs, artwork, etc. over the next month, so keep an eye out.

We’ve also recently gotten some brand new tang top style shirts, which we hand printed with love. Pick one up at the next show (this Friday!), they’ll be $9.

And as a thanks for coming by the website, here’s a live recording of Around from the acoustic set we played a few weeks back – enjoy! (Download it if you like it!)

Howdy, ya’ll.

We’ve got a handful of shows on the calendar right now for the next couple months, and we hope to see you there! This 27th (coming up soon!) we’re playing a battle of the bands at Studio 7 in Seattle. We will personally bring tickets to your doorstep if you’d like to come – they’re $7 for quite a few bands playing. Check it all out on our Calendar page.

We’ll also be playing a touchy feely acoustic show at Soul Food Books in Redmond on July 13th, which we haven’t done in a long time, as well as a bunch of shows in between.

Hope to see you soon, and as always, let us know what your thinking about in comments or emails!
