Simon Cozens

Simon Cozens is a London-based editor who has been cutting shorts and feature films since 1995. His extensive credits include Editing big budget action movies such as The Last Legion starring Colin Firth and Ben Kingsley. He also worked as an Assitant Editor on Academy Award-winning features Saving Private Ryan and The Remains of the Day.

After a childhood spent in the South West of England watching as many films as possible, Simon studied at the Film School Faculty of University of Westminster and graduated in 1989 with a BA in Film and Photographic Art.

In 1990 he won a job at a TV production company as an assistant editor, before moving into feature films a year later and spending the following decade gaining invaluable experience working as an Assistant Editor on films by world reknowned directors such as Steven Spielberg, Tony Scott, Brian De Palma, Terry Gilliam, Luc Besson and James Ivory. During this time assisted Academy Award-winning editors Jim Clarke, Martin Walsh, Paul Hirsch and Michael Kahn.

He started editing shorts and low budget features in 1995 during breaks from his assisting work and by 2002 he was working alone.

Still a huge film buff, Simon has now worked on a range of mainstream films as an editor, including $65m Action-Adventure film The Last Legion for Dino De Laurentiis and Weinstein Company, the teen-girl film Wild Child for Working Title and Universal and independent films such as the black-comedy/drama Niagara Motel and sci-fi thriller The Kovak Box.

He is also happy to bring his features experience to other projects. Recently he edited some Commercials and a 60 minute film installation for the Stanley Picker Gallery in London called End Of Love.

A major music fan, he has a huge and very eclectic music library and can always suggest the perfect soundtrack for a project.

After spending time living and working in LA (where he is a member of Hollywood’s Editors Guild), New York and Canada, he is now based in London where he spends his spare time with his baby daughter and riding his motorbike.
