Today in the Czech Republic is the public holiday of Svátek Práce/První Máj! 🌸In the days before the fall of communism in the Czech Republic, May Day parades were organized that passed through the city. Attendance at May Day celebrations were often unwritten and supervisors and teachers were ordered to control the attendance of their subordinates and students. This day is also associated with couples in love kissing under a flowering tree, most commonly under one of the blooming cherry trees of Petřín hill. The origin of May kissing is said to be connected to a poem by Karel Hynek Mácha. [Wikipedia.org- První máj & Svátek práce]
