This week we had our 6th meeting with Comp Sci High. After lunch we learned ...about each other's cultures through cooking. We made Senegalese Jollof Rice, Challah, and Mangu. Students enjoyed hearing about the meaning of these cultural foods and spending time with their friends from Comp Sci High.
This program was generously funded by the Nagel Gen-3 Fund.

Today we welcomed an Israeli powerhouse - combat medic and Miss Israel 2021 ...@noacochva. Noa joined us for our daily Tefilot for Israel on the steps and spoke to our 4th, 5th, and 7th grade students - encouraging them to speak their truth and stand up even when it's hard. Thank you, Noa! #AmYisraelChai
Rabbi Nadel's Breishit class went on a journey to Gan Eden today, or the ...closest representation of it in the area. As part of their final, they went on a trip to the Untermyer Gardens. Here they are pictured between the "Cherubs" with four rivers splitting behind them. While there the class shared a picnic in the garden and each individual shared personal "Lech Lecha" moments, significant moments in their respective spiritual journeys leading up to this moment. #onlyatthehive #sarhsclassof2024

Last Thursday, SAR High School participated in the annual Envision Shakespeare ...competition, which is run by our very own Nancy Edelman, along with Rebecca Lopkin, artistic director of Envision Theater. Our team, coached by Allison Miller, prepared the famous scene from The Merchant of Venice in which Shylock learns of his daughter's betrayal and vows to take revenge on Antonio, asking "Hath not a Jew eyes?" and reminding the audience of his humanity. They also heard director Jessica Schechter discuss her experiences as an observant Jew with a career in the arts, and participated in acting workshops with renowned performers. Congratulations to Nate (grade 11) on winning the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Shylock, and to Yehuda (grade 12) on winning the Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of Tubal.
The SAR Varsity Baseball team travelled to Boston for the Ezra Schwartz ...Memorial Baseball Tournament this past weekend. After playing five intense games, the team won the championship and returned home with a trophy. But even better than the feeling of victory was the warm welcome and gracious hospitality extended by their hosts and the sense of camaraderie they felt with the members of the other teams. Congrats to all of the players! #onlyatthehive #letsgosting
