Another weird thing I’m noticing about the difficulty balancing of FF1 is the gil (currency). Originally it was the most important resource and you grind for it as much as for levelling up, but by the mid point you’ll have way more than you’ll possibly ever know what to do with
one of the biggest takeaways from civil war for almost the entire marvel universe was "we can never let this happen again, because too many people suffered because of it", and a lot of the big players on both sides of the conflict have at some point dealt with things like time travel or precognition that raises very similar questions, almost invariably believing in free will and opting to fight for that.
it literally doesn't even feel like it's something worth fighting over - or that some of these characters would even fight at all (looking at the thing especially) - and some of the major plot beats feel really out of place.
it's a cool concept but it really feels too much like it was just being made into a big event for the sake of it and to partially ride on the coattails of the civil war movie which i think is just massively to its detriment
