SORRY…FOUR WINDS NO LONGER EXISTS AS AN ORGANISATION

FOUR WINDS
Edinburgh

1998 – 2014

Established in 1998 Four Winds  was an environmental education and craft based charity.

The original backbone of the organisation was the utilisation of waste wood arising as a result of the annual City of Edinburgh Dutch Elm Disease Control Programme.

Operating within an idyllic and secluded setting in Inverleith Park Four Winds Inspiration Centre  hosted an annual programme of on-site crafts and herbal classes including wood and stone carving, willow weaving, basket making, leather work, rustic furniture making, and creating  mosaics until the loss of the  site in 2010.

From 2002 – 2009, working in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, Forestry Commission Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage, Four Winds was the host and event organiser of the 2 day, environmental festival Edinburgh Treefest and Woodmarket.

Solely responsible for the concept and ongoing management of the event, Four Winds developed the popular, family focused festival from an exciting idea into a much anticipated highlight on the city’s summer event calendar – with more than 100 stands and attractions and welcoming in the region of 15,000 visitors over the weekend.

Many thanks to The City of Edinburgh Council for their support!
