Northwest DirtBags Baseball

Hi everyone,

Over the weekend the Northwest DirtBags won another tournament!!!!!! Out of the last 24 games they have only lost 1! Unfortunately I am super busy this week and have no time to post a lot photos from the BPA Western Worlds Warm UP tournament. The tournament was great, except with a minor problem, of an angry umpire leading to our coach, Ken Johnson, getting thrown out of the game and the championship game. The coach was thrown out of the game for sticking up for his team and their fans, after the umpire made a disrupting presentation on how no one should be calling the game beside him and his partner. Johnson was very calm in the situation, just asking if the umpire would just tell him and he would take care of it rather than wasting time from the baseball game. After asking nicely however, the umpire threw Johnson out of the game. In the photo below, Coach Ken Johnson is thrown out of the Northwest DirtBags baseball game.

This past weekend (July 16th through the 18th) the Northwest DirtBags were in Yakima, Washington. The Northwest DirtBags took part in the 2010 Summer Sizzler baseball tournament, taking home first place. In the championship game the Northwest DirtBags played the Gunners and battled it out ’til the end, with an ending score of 9 to 1. As of now the Northwest DirtBags are 24 wins and 6 loses for their season. Next weekend the Northwest DirtBags will be in Fife, Washington, July 23rd through the 25th, striving for the championship of the BPA Western Worlds Warm UP tournament. As always thanks for viewing. Over the weekend (July 9th through the 11th) the Northwest DirtBags Baseball team was in Lacey, Washington. In Lacey the DirtBags took home first place in the tournament. From the starting of the first game to the ending of the last, the DirtBags played some great baseball! In the championship game the boys competed in an 11 inning game, finally ending in victory 8-7. During the tournament, there were several homeruns for the DirtBags, Leif Krapas being one of the players had three. The Northwest DirtBags Baseball Team’s next tournament is in Yakima, Washington, July 16th through the 18th. As always thanks for viewing. Over the weekend (July 2nd through the 4th) the Northwest DirtBags played in the Triple Crown Classic Tacoma/Pierce tournament in Tacoma, Washington. The boys played some great baseball up until the last game deciding who moves on to the championships, unfortunately the Northwest DirtBags lost the game and received 3rd place out of 22 teams in the tournament. On June 23rd though the 27th, the Northwest DirtBags Baseball team came out and won the Best of the West Classic baseball tournament in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. In the newspaper there was an article on the championship game; 

Cubs fall to Northwest in title game

COEUR D’ALENE – A comeback fell one run short as the Lewis-Clark Cubs lost 7-6 to the Northwest Dirtbags in the championship game of the Coeur d’Alene Elite Series baseball tournament Sunday.
Reece Qualey of the Cubs led off the bottom of the seventh inning with his fourth double of the game, but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.
“Two perfect throws,” L-C coach Justin Miller said of the Dirtbags’ defense on the play. “I probably shouldn’t have sent him, but if they had 99 more chances I don’t think they’d get him.”
The Cubs (14-8) committed four errors and gave up four unearned runs, falling behind 7-1 before rallying. They wound up 3-2 in the six-team tournament.
The Dirtbags are a regional select team whose roster includes Pete Bakker of Lewiston, who drove in four runs.
Allen Willey went the distance for the Cubs, throwing 118 pitches. “It was his fourth loss of the year, and we should have won them all,” Miller said.

 The weekend of June 18th through the 20th I was in Pasco, Washington photographing the Northwest Dirtbags Baseball team. The Dirtbags placed second in the Sliver Bracket in the Triple Crown Classic Tournament! The boys played very well, but unfortunately due to time limited game, the championship game had to end early. The next Tournament for the Northwest Dirtbags Baseball team is the Best of the West Classic, which will be June 23rd to the 27th, located at Coeur d’Alene High School, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Over this summer I will be traveling with the Northwest DirtBags Baseball team and photographing tournaments and games. So far in this season they have had two tournaments, these photos are from the first tournament in Puyallup, Washington. Photographing baseball is slightly new to me, by how I have only photographed a couple of games of the Coeur d’Alene High Schools baseball games. In the summer league with Northwest DirtBags Baseball I hope to learn more about Sports Photography, capture some amazing photos that shows the intensity of the games, and be able to have the viewers of the photos feel as if they are actually there at the game.
