QATAR Airways- Screening at Diamond Hotel

Feb 28, 2010

Weeee! I passed! And I'm for Final Interview tomorrow!

I hope this will be my time. I know I'm not a perfect person and I have my flaws, but I know God still has a better plan for me. If I've disobeyed him at times, I still believe in him and I know that his plan would show me the right way.

Up to now, I still can't believe I've come this far! I think a thousand applicants were there yesterday to try their luck. Only a hundred I think became short listed. And I'm one of them!

I'm in the morning batch, we were about 48-50. First, they played an AVP about Qatar/Doha. Then the recruiters introduced themselves and talked bout some things bout being a cabin crew and being in Doha. After that, we had the English Proficiency Exam. I can't remember how many items it was but it's composed of reading comprehension, vocabulary, time reading and essay. While answering the exam, they were also calling us one by one to test our reach. We should reach atleast 212cm (tip toes is fine). Then as we finished everything, they asked us to wait outside as they evaluate our exam. By the time we got back, only 15 of us were asked to stay for the next stage. The next stage was a group discussion, we were divided into 2 groups. They gave us scenarios and cases that we need to discuss with one another at a limited time, we also had one writer and a time keeper.  After that, someone has to speak for the group, may it be a volunteer or a person called by the recruiter. After which, we were asked again to stay a while outside so that they can evaluate us further. To my surprise, I was again called to attend the next stage which is the final interview! Wow! I can't belive it really! We were about 9 applicants (in the morning batch) who are invited for the Final Interview!. Yey!

This is the booklet they gave us during the assessment
and yes! I'm girl number 1. haha!

Note: Just do your very best with the Exam and be participative with the discussion. And once you are called by the recruiter to answer specific questions, make sure that it applies to you being a Cabin Crew. "Always do the right thing!"

Wish me luck for the Final Inetrview!

Qatar's Open Day

FEB 27 2010 QATAR OPEN DAY

We arrived at diamond hotel at about 6:45-7:00am
I thought it wont be a big hassle since just about 50 people were there when we arrived. After a few minutes, we entered the ballroom hall? of diamond hotel. I think, we're about 60-70 that moment. Waited for a while and saw people still coming in.

This is my friend and me in the red inner blouse

After that, the recuiters came already and gave some instructions to us. It was written in the white board in front. Wherein it says that this day is just CV submission and only shortlisted applicants will be notified through telephone call for the assessment the next day. Also written there are the proper attire and necessary preparations for the assessment of shortlisted applicants.
Then they started calling applicants one by one and by row. So those in front are first to be called. Me and my friend were in the third row of the first column (there were about 3 columns).

Okay, when it was my turn, i gave the girl my resume and a full body pic. After that, she asked:

Why do you use _____ as your email add? Sheesh! I was not confident with my answer. Then she asked if I also applied with other airlines, I said yes, just about this month(with Emirates). She asked how far i've reached? I said i've reached the final stage of the screening but unfortunately I didn't make it to the final interview. Then she said, "oh, who knows it might be a good thing". Okay? what does that mean? And then, that's it!
We just need to wait for the call, they'll be calling shortlisted applicants only today.

So there, I hope my phone rings. Cross Fingers!
Goodluck to other applicants! =))

Do I have what it takes?

sigh sigh sigh...

I've been trying my luck with several Airlines, unfortunately so signs yet.
I hope tomorrow will be a good one. CV submission for Qatar Airways.
Wish to be shortlisted...

Aspiring FA's, hope to see you there. I want friends here! hellooo! =))

still trying my luck...

Just got rejected. I had my screening with the Emirates recruiters last Feb. 13. I've went through 3 stages but I didn't pass the final stage. It was really disappointing coz I've reached so far with my application and yet it was not enough. But i'll still try my luck after 6 months. For now, i'll try my luck with Qatar Airways. Try and Try!

Feb 27, 2010 -Qatar Airways Open Day
- we'll try our luck! I'll be going there with my friend.

My Very First!

Hi! I'm new here, and i hope to gain friends soon.
Just like the others, I'm also one Filipina who wants to fly high.
I just graduated last march 2009 with a Bachelors Degree in Communication Arts and Advertising.
To be honest, I really don't know where to go after grad. haha. Luckily, a friend told me about a job opening in their company. I got hired immediately, it was just a small company but they were really generous with their employees. And I think that's the reason why they got bankrupted. Yeah! Now, I'm currently unemployed! sheesh! And now trying my luck in some airlines (local or international) as a cabin crew. =)

Yeah, indeed this is my dream job now. Really! A friend of mine invited me to apply with different airlines such as pacific jet, oman airlines, emirates and qatar. I still don't know what will happen in my application with pacific jet and oman airlines, we just gave them our resumes and they said they will just inform us regarding our application. We also applied for emirates and qatar but the lady at IPAMS (agency) said that we're already late for our application with emirates (just a few days) but she said we can check Qatar's website for the upcoming screening. Fortunately, the day after, Ms. Rocel of IPAMS invited me and my friend for a pre-assessment with Emirates Airlines. Wow, they gave us another chance! Ms. Rocel said siningit lang daw kami since sa Feb 13 pa naman daw ung screening with the Emirates Recruiters. Well, thanks!

We had our pre assessment at IPAMS office, we had some activities like self introduction and group discussion. She said that those who will pass the assessment will recieve an email from her. And yes! I got an email stating that I passed the assessment! She gave some instructions for the screening with the Emirates Recruiters.

Feb 13, 2010 we're about 56 applicants (shortlisted). First, they showed us a video presentation about Emirates and Dubai, it was really inspiring, I even got teary eyed while watching the presentation cause I know this is the job I want. Everything about the airline is everything I want. Really!

Stage 1: Group Discussion
-I passed! (I wasn't expecting it! But yey!)

Stage 2: English Proficiency Exam
-I passed! (oh my gosh, do I really have what it takes? I'm so overwhelmed!)

Stage 3: Group Discussion but with Higher Criteria (from 56 applicants, we were cut down to I think 20 plus?)
-I didn't pass. =(

I felt really sad that time because I know it was the last and final stage but unfortunately I didn't make it. And now, I'm really determined to continue what i've started. Hope my friend and I will go really far. Aja!

P.S.
I apologize for this post, I'm so drained (past 12 md) and I'm kinda lazy to explain all I've went through since days already passed and I've shared my story to a lot of friends and fam. I'm just posting this for the sake of writing my very first blog and offcourse I want to share my first experience with the dream airline because i know it wouldn't be the last. I'll still try my luck next time. That's all for now. bye! =)

by the way, i'll be going to Qatar's open day on feb 27. Hope to be shortlisted. wish me luck!
