• On Nov. 3 at around 10:30 p.m., a male Emory student parked his vehicle at the Starvine Parking Deck and returned on Nov. 4 to find his wallet was missing; however, there were no signs of forced entry. The individual checked the account of his credit card and found two fraudulent charges. Information was turned over to an investigator.

• On Nov. 1 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., a male subject met with the Emory Police Department (EPD) who said he was studying in the dental school building and left his EmoryCard on the table. When he returned, his card was missing. At the time of the report, there had been no charges to his account.

• Staff at the Woodruff Health Sciences Administration Building called EPD stating that there was an Indian male asking pedestrians for money on Nov. 2 at around 3 p.m. Officers made contact with the individual and found that he had a California address as well as a warrant. Officers confirmed that he was wanted, but the jurisdiction that wanted him would not extradite him due to his geographic location. The individual was escorted off campus and was last seen boarding a MARTA bus on Clifton Road.

• EPD received a call on Nov. 1 at around 3 p.m. from Parking Services stating that they had placed two boots on a 2009 silver Toyota because of a parking violation. The vehicle and the boots were not at the location when they returned to check on it. The boots are presumed stolen and valued at $600 a piece.

• Between 12:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 10, damage was spotted in a Clifton Tower elevator. There was a plastic light cover broken as well as other damages to cords in the elevator. The damage is estimated to be around $100.

• On Nov. 9 between 6:20 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., a female Emory student who had been in the women’s locker room in the Woodruff P.E. Center said someone had stolen her watch from her backpack. The watch is gold and has a leather band; it is valued at $80.

• A theft occurred on Wednesday Nov. 9 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in the weight room of the Woodruff P.E. Center. A male Emory student left his bag there and when he returned he found the bag to be missing. The bag contained his wallet with credit and debit cards as well as his Android phone. There are no suspects at this time and it was turned over to an investigator.

• The Emory Police Department (EPD) received a call from an Emory staff member on Nov. 9 stating that there was a male subject walking through the Rollins School of Public Health building on the seventh floor. The subject was attempting to sell books, but he left before officers arrived and could not be located. Information was turned over to an investigator.

• On Nov. 8 at around 6 a.m., EPD found a white female sleeping in a room in the Burlington Road Building. She claimed she was waiting to meet a graduate student. This is the same woman who is thought to be homeless and has been spotted on campus on numerous occasions. Because of prior incidents, Emory Police officers issued her a permanent trespass, which she signed and said she understood. However, the next day she was found at the Goizueta Business School and was refusing to leave. She was arrested and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

• On Oct. 23 at around 3:40 a.m., the Emory Police Department (EPD) received a complaint that a subject with “security” on his shirt was flagging down vehicles in front of Dooley’s Depot. Officers located the individual who said he was a security guard for an event taking place that day on campus. He appeared intoxicated and admitted to drinking but said his wife was coming to pick him up. Officers confirmed this was the case, and the man was permitted to wait for his wife.

• On Oct. 23 at around 2:30 a.m., officers received a call about five students on the Starvine Bridge. Three of the five students were intoxicated and one had regurgitated his food on the bus prior to arrival. The students stated that they had been drinking “punch” all night and returned to Harris and Longstreet-Means Halls. No medical attention was needed. Campus Life was contacted.

• At around 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, officers received a report of people trapped in a parking deck elevator. They were able to establish voice contact with the trapped individuals and the fire department was called to the location. However, upon their arrival, the elevator was working and none of the trapped people were there.

• EPD was contacted by an anonymous subject on Oct. 21 at around 3 a.m. saying that there were six to eight individuals on the roof of Trimble Hall. When the officers arrived no one suspected of being on the roof was there any longer.

• On Oct. 19 at around 3:30 p.m., a female Emory student said that she had left her phone case, which contained her Emory ID, on a table in the Dobbs University Center (DUC). When she returned to the location, both items were missing.

• On Oct. 24 at around 4 p.m., officers responded to the Emory Conference Center where a white female had been causing problems. The American Bankers Association Coordinator stated that she had been hanging around and eating their food. This is the third incident involving this female subject. She is often seen wearing royal blue scrub pants and a black sweater. She is 58 years old and has blonde hair. Officers encourage people to call them if this subject is seen on campus.

• On Oct. 26 around 2:22 a.m., officers contacted an Emory male student on the fourth floor of Evans Hall. He was described as inebriated and had a strong odor of alcohol. DeKalb Metro Police and EMS arrived to the location and transported him to Emory Hospital. Information was turned over to a Campus Life Professional.

• Officers received a complaint from the vice president of student activities at the Goizueta Business School. Student stated that between Oct. 13 and Oct. 20 $800 was stolen from their cash box. The cash box was not damaged and there was no forced entry into the room. Information was turned over to an investigator.

• Officers received a call from a white female Emory student on Oct. 24 around 11 p.m. stating that her laptop had been stolen in the Woodruff Library. The laptop was a silver Apple MacBook and is valued at $1200. The student said that she left her laptop on the 8th floor in a cubicle and upon returning the laptop was gone. Information was turned over to an investigator.

• Officers found an abandoned standard Emory golf cart behind the Kappa Sigma house on Oct. 24. The golf cart had a flat wheel, broken headlights and the forward/reverse switch was broken. Officers notified facilities management, but no suspects were turned over to an investigator. Cost of repair is unknown at this point.

• Officers responded to a call from Harris Hall about an odor of marijuana coming from the fourth floor on Oct. 23 around 11 p.m. Upon arrival the odor had dissipated and no subjects were found guilty.

• Around 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 21, officers received a report of persons trapped in a parking deck elevator. They were able to establish voice contact with the trapped persons and the fire department was called to the location. But, on arrival. the elevator was working and none of the trapped persons were there.

• The Emory Police Department (EPD) received a complaint from an unidentified subject on Oct. 16 around 3:30 a.m. who said there was a large number of people in a verbal argument at 8 Eagle Row. The individual suggested that a fight could break out. Officers arrived and confronted the presidents of Sigma Chi and Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) fraternities who said that they were mediating the altercation.
The Sigma Chi president told officers that members of AEPi had gone into their fraternity house and trashed the chapter room. In response, the president of AEPi said that there was a prior incident at Maggie’s and that they had returned to resolve the argument. Officers did not see any injuries or property damage and left. Information was turned over to Campus Life.

• On Oct. 15 at 10:06 p.m., officers received a call about a fire in the Quadrangle. The complaint came from a staff member who said she observed two white male subjects start a fire underneath a tree. She said she believed they may have been drinking. When she approached, both subjects ran, and when the officers arrived the fire was out and the individuals were not found.

• Officers responded on Oct. 15 at 8:49 p.m. to a fire alarm at 22 Eagle Row. Officers spoke with the president of the fraternity who said they were testing a smoke machine for a party later that night which caused the alarm to go off; officers left the scene without further investigation.

• On Oct. 15 at 2:46 a.m., officers responded to Harris Hall where a male Emory student said he had been drinking at Sigma Chi. He was having problems breathing but appeared stable. He was left with a friend and the situation was turned over to Campus Life.

• Two male students were trapped in a study room in the Woodruff Library on Oct. 18 between 10:30 p.m. and 12:30 am. The lock on the door was malfunctioning and a locksmith was called to free the students from the room.

• On Oct. 18 between 12:50 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., a male Emory student left his HTC Droid Sensation cell phone on a table in the hallway of the second floor of the Callaway Center. The student then noticed it was missing upon returning from class. The cell phone is valued at $500.

• On Oct. 17 between 10:45 p.m. and 10:51 p.m., officers made contact with a male subject who was found in the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts using a telephone after hours and refusing to leave. The subject was also attempting to gain entry into the building and claimed he was waiting for his daughter who was performing in the building. Officers checked the information and found that there was an active warrant for the subject. Officers could not verify that he had a permanent address or that he was waiting for his daughter, and he was charged with criminal trespass and was transferred to jail.

• The Emory Police Department (EPD) responded to a complaint at Cannon Chapel on Oct. 17 around 6 p.m. regarding a female subject not affiliated with the University who was disrupting activities at the Jewish Sukkot event on the plaza near the Chapel. She became agitated when asked to leave and officers escorted her to the nearest MARTA station.

• On Oct. 17 at 11:30 a.m., an Emory employee stated that he left his department-issued laptop outside on a bench located near the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine on the corner of Clifton Road and Haygood Drive. The subject went to park his car and upon returning, his laptop was gone. The laptop is black and is valued at $1,000.

• On Oct. 10 at 3:45 a.m., Emergency Medical Services responded to a call made by four subjects — one Emory student and three visiting students — who appeared drunk and had a strong odor of alcohol. One subject appeared to be injured and had lacerations on his body. Two of the four were transported to Emory University Hospital for further evaluation; both were visiting students. The subjects stated that they had been at Maggie’s and were drinking alcoholic beverages at that location.

• A 2006 blue Toyota four-runner’s driver-side window was smashed and items were taken from the vehicle on Oct. 8 between 4 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The owner is an Emory student who said that a black subwoofer, TomTom GPS and an iPod cable were stolen. The total value of those items is estimated at $160.

• A 2008 silver Lexus was parked at the Woodruff Residential Center parking lot on Oct. 8 between Noon and 12:45 pm. Two iPhone 4S smartphones, a Garmin GPS and a cooler were stolen from the vehicle. The two individuals were visitors to the school walking the trails of Lullwater Park. The total amount lost, including the damaged window, is valued at $2,280.

• Officers discovered a white female who appeared to be homeless sleeping in the courtyard of the Goizueta Business School on Oct. 8 at 4:20 p.m. She had several bags that included her personal items and she claimed to be waiting for Woodruff Library to open. She was allowed to leave the scene without further questioning.

• A male Emory student’s black Apple iPhone 3G was taken at the Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC) on Oct. 11 sometime between 7:20 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. The subject stated that he left the phone on a table and went to order a sandwich. On his return he found his phone was missing. Officers on scene interviewed an individual in the area but there was no evidence to determine if the person was involved. The case was turned over to an investigator, and the iPhone is valued at $301.

• In the Woodruff PE Center on the fourth floor persons wrote “Phi Delta Theta” in black marker on windows sometime between Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. until Oct. 11 at 11:30 a.m.; the graffiti was easily removed.

• On Oct. 8 at around 10 a.m. a female Emory student left her wallet on the third floor of the Goizueta Business School and returned on Oct. 10 and could not locate her wallet. She was contacted by a Target store within the area with a $400 charge on her credit card. Her card was also used at other locations near Emory. Items taken included a driver’s license, credit cards, her EmoryCard and $21 cash. The case was turned over to a detective.

• A 2003 grey Jetta Volkswagen was parked in the wrong direction at the rear of Cox Hall at the loading dock on Oct. 11 around 1 p.m. The car was impeding a garbage truck from picking up trash, and officers on scene could not locate the owner. The officers contacted a towing company and the vehicle was impounded.
