Bluefin Tuna Fishing Going Strong

Giant bluefin tuna fishing on Tuna Hunter continues through the fall, for as long as weather allows and the bluefin are in our Cape Ann waters.

Yet another recent trip yielded three tagged giant bluefin. A few days before, our charter went home with a porbeagle shark and tagged a giant bluefin in the same afternoon.

Cannot beat this experience for anglers or any age. We are quite sure this guy, and his family, are still smiling …

Giant bluefin – over 73 inches – are tag and release. Bluefin under 73 inches may be retained by the charter – one 47 to 73, two 27 to 47 inches. (Regulations may change!)

1st Gloucester Bluefin on Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters

This shared charter aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters in June landed the 1st Bluefin tuna in Gloucester for the 2017 season.

Congratulations to Mindy and Doarsha, as they joined up on a shared tuna charter to battle this guy to the boat. This giant Bluefin opens the season – and many more big fish and great angling battles to come. Bluefin are feeding on bunker and mackerel, fattening up for future charters.

Spring haddock fishing is underway – anglers are pulling in plenty of haddock and even a halibut here and there. Tuna Hunter is now fishing every day, heading to favorite bottom fishing spots on Stellwagen Bank and Jeffreys Ledge.

Striped Bass are migrating into Cape Ann waters now – there are schoolies in the rivers, and sizeable stripers follow them up the coast. Striped bass fishing charters will be in full swing by Memorial Day.

And don’t forget that bluefin tuna season opens June 1st. Tuna Hunter is ready to go. There are plenty of sand eels and other bait on the fishing grounds ~ lief abounds, which bodes well for great early season giant bluefin tuna fishing.

Good Boots ~ Ready for Fishing Season

We are excited for fishing season ~ May 1 is right around the corner.

Tuna Hunter’s winter and spring chores are coming together nicely, and we can’t wait to be in the water, into a nice school of haddock, 6 rods bent over with everyone reeling in doubles.

As we review last year’s photos and dream of upcoming trips, we realize we have the best dressed clients out there.

As of May 1st Tuna Hunter is fishing every day – for haddock, pollock, cusk. Striped bass will be migrating into our waters in late May. June 1st opens bluefin tuna fishing.

Almost Here ~ Spring and Spring Fishing!

Never mind the snow – Spring is here! That means spring haddock fishing is right around the corner.

Tuna Hunter opens the 2016 fishing season wit hhaddock fishing starting May 1st.

We are hard at work now spiffing up Tuna Hunter for the coming season. We look forward to being on the water hauling in haddock.
